WHO’S GONNA LOVE ME NOW Sunday 2 April 2017 Time: 15:50-17:50 Watershed Ticket price: VARIOUS

Shot over several years, this moving documentary is about the power of forgiveness and the overpowering call that home has on us, no matter how far we go. Saar is a gay man from an Orthodox family in Israel. After being kicked out of his conservative kibbutz aged just 23, Saar flees to London where he enjoys a gay lifestyle denied to him in Israel. He lives the dream, until he discovers that he’s HIV positive. When he breaks the news to his family, they struggle with their fears and prejudices. With the support and warmth of what he describes as his ‘surrogate family’ - the London Gay Men’s Chorus - he begins a reconciliation process with his biological family in Israel. Saar finds himself torn between these two very different worlds and must make a decision: should he return to Israel and embrace his family once more, or stay in London and live in exile forever? Saar and the rest of the London Gay Men’s Chorus provide a glorious soundtrack for this tender, honest and intimate film. This special preview screening is followed by a Satellite Q&A with the film’s directors and star Saar Maoz, and a performance by the London Gay Men’s Chorus, broadcast live from London’s Barbican Centre and hosted by Julian Clary. THIS EVENT IS HOSTED AT VARIOUS CINEMAS NATIONALLY SO PLEASE CHECK WEBSITE FOR YOUR NEAREST CINEMA

Kings Cross (Remix) uncovers the hidden histories of LGBT communities in London during the 1980s through memories of the Kings Cross area; an area that has undergone radical change since its day as a hub of LGBT communities, bars and culture. Woven together from the stories of people who experienced it first hand, Tom’s show celebrates a raucous, riotous time in the life of central London where sexuality was for exploring, HIV was causing tragedy, and rights were to be fought for.

ABOUT TOM / tommarshman.com Tom is a performance artist who transforms everyday accounts into theatre by weaving together stories worth telling. Pride and Joy: A guide for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans parents

Authors: Sarah & Rachel Hagger-Holt Publisher: Pinter & Martin Ltd Language: English ISBN-10: 1780664206 ISBN-13: 978-1780664200

Synopsis There have always been lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) parents. But now there is a ‘gayby boom’. Changes in social attitudes, the law and medical technology mean that more LGBT people are becoming parents, and living proud and open family lives. Yet there are still few role models. Pride and Joy is full of stories, advice and real-life experience from LGBT parents and their children. Sometimes funny, sometimes moving, sometimes surprising, every story sheds new light on what it’s like for LGBT people raising children in the UK and Ireland today. Pride and Joy is positive and practical. It covers everything from starting a family, dealing with schools, talking with children about different families, and maintaining an LGBT identity as a parent. This book is essential reading for anyone who wants to better understand issues facing LGBT families including parents or prospective parents; extended families and friends; and social workers, teachers and other professionals.

About the Author Sarah and Rachel Hagger-Holt are lesbian parents with two young children. Rachel is a clinical psychologist and Sarah works in charity communications. Together, they have previously written Living It Out: A survival guide for lesbian, gay and bisexual Christians, their friends, families and churches.

I Am Not Your Negro 12A

Venue: Watershed Date: Fri 7 - Thu 13 April Director: Raoul Peck Cast: Samuel L. Jackson, James Baldwin, Dick Cavett Length: 93 mins, Tickets: www.watershed.co.uk In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, Remember This House. The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends – Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time of Baldwin’s death in 1987, he left behind only thirty completed pages of his manuscript, which is narrated here by Samuel L Jackson. Now, in his incendiary new documentary (with readings by Samuel L. Jackson), master filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwin’s original words and a flood of rich archival material. I Am Not Your Negro is a journey into black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights movement to the present of #BlackLivesMatter. It is a film that questions black representation in Hollywood and beyond. And, ultimately, by confronting the deeper connections between the lives and assassination of these three leaders, Baldwin and Peck have produced a work that challenges the very definition of what America stands for. Presented by Come The Revolution in partnership with Bristol Festival of Ideas.

The Cranberries 16-19 March 2017 / www.bristoljazzandbluesfest.com

The Cranberries are pleased to announce that they are bringing a very special Greatest Hits Tour on the road this Summer. Best known for their now classic songs ‘Linger’, ‘Zombie’ and ‘Dreams’, The Cranberries will perform specially orchestrated versions of their many hits with each show on the tour featuring a string quartet. Formed in Limerick, Irish pop band The Cranberries emerged on the pre-Brit-pop UK indie scene in the early ’90s with their dreamy, Celtic-tinged melodic sound, led by vocalist Dolores O’Riordan. O’Riordan lent her distinctive vocals to songs like lush ballad ‘Linger’, which, after becoming an American hit in 1993, led the band to achieve mass success in the UK. The Cranberries quickly became international stars, with both their 1993 debut album, ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?’, and its 1994 follow-up, ‘No Need to Argue’, selling millions of copies and producing a string of hit singles, including ‘Dreams’ and ‘Zombie’. James Critchley Photographer / Stylist / Artist /

“Interpreting form & structure, stylist & photographer James Critchley’s work naturally captures the masculinity of his subject.”

A rising star in the portrait and physique photography world, James Critchley has already shot many of the worlds physique models. What sets his work apart is the combination of his physique photography with his other passion of landscape design which creates his unique style. His choice of stunning locations and physique models his work is reminiscent of Ansel Adams and Bruce Weber.

Where do you get your inspiration from ? Coming from a design background I have always been drawn to structure and form. This extended into my photography and into capturing the form and structure of the athletic physical form. Living in the Cotswolds, much of my nature series focuses on locations based in natural settings and way the natural setting accentuates the strong form of the model.

Culture

James Critchley Photographer / Stylist / Artist /

What kind of camera do you use? I use a Canon 5D with a variety of lenses in order to create a range of different photos. To me, it’s the lenses that create the magic. How much creative freedom do you have on an editorial shoot? I have had complete freedom in almost every shoot. I am very lucky that I get to choose my models, locations and style of photography How important are personal projects to you ? I would like to think that almost all of my muscle photography is personal to me. To start with, I had to ask the models to shoot for me with very little photographs to entice them. Now I have top fitness and muscle models from around the world asking me to shoot them and within those shoots, I choose where and how they will pose with very good results. So each shoot I do, I like to think is a personal project.

Culture:- James Critchley Photographer / Stylist / Artist /

How much preparation goes into a shoot? Often I set out a list of goals and ideas for each shoot and sometimes the models will bring their ideas with them. I have a fantastic assistant Alicia who will assist with lighting, camera equipment etc. and without her I couldn’t keep up with the fast pace of some of the shoots. How much do you do in post production? A LOT! My ratio of shooting to editing is surprising. I might spend 6 hours on a shoot but I can spend up to 6 days working up the photographs. I am very particular, and nothing leaves my studio without being edited to the highest standard. My ethos is to over deliver on images for my clients. Where the top fitness photographers might only release five photos from a shoot (some models have dieted for weeks for that shoot) I will happily work up at least 50 images for them, and give a massive variety of shots for them to choose from. Do you think a photographer needs a philosophy to do good work ? Yes I do. A very happy positive attitude helps enormously and that can get you through the most awkward of shoots. Keep things fun, always make the models laugh and that not only makes for photos full of emotion but also keeps the shoot upbeat and memorable.

Culture:- James Critchley Photographer / Stylist / Artist /

Among your works, which one is your favourite? Why? All of my photographs are like my children and I love them all. I have models who I have a lot of time for who have helped me get started before I was well known and I am particularly fond of their photos, so a massive thank you to Kenolivier, Charlie Garforth and Ry Williams whose support and loyalty has helped me get where I am today. Whose work has influenced you most? I am a big fan of photographer Pat Lee from the United States, whose ability to make a monstrous vascular bodybuilder look serene and alluring has always inspired me. British fitness photographer Jules Godfrey always manages to capture images where the light and look of the models is so beautiful. What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos? I used to get very nervous before a shoot and I now look forward to them. I wish I could tell the younger me to relax more and just enjoy the view. Describe your photographic style? How did you develop your style? My style is so varied and is still developing, like my chaotic mind every photo from a single shoot can look like a completely different photographers work. I have recently become a big fan of depth of field images where the subject is perfectly crisp but the surrounding landscape is almost like a watercolor painting. I always throw in a location with every physique shoot which now has helped me get recognized as one of the UK’s best location photographers.
