Mafate le cœur de la randonnée

Tourmenté, chaotique ... Mafate incarne la face la plus étonnante du coeur habité du Parc national de la Réunion. Le cirque est classé au Patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco. La randonnée est l'unique moyen de pénétrer dans le cirque de Mafate, une singularité qui aura permis au cirque de devenir un sanctuaire naturel hors du temps. Pour les non-marcheurs, admirez ce cirque en hélicoptère ou en ULM, depuis le point de vue du Piton Maido ou celui de Cap Noir, pour avoir une très belle vue d'ensemble. Si la route ne pénètre pas à l'intérieur du cirque, les sentiers de randonnée y sont nombreux. MAFATE THE HEART OF HIKING Rugged and dramatic ... Mafate embodies the most amazing face of the inhabited heart of Réunion National Park. The cirque is classified as a Unesco World Heritage site. Hiking is the only way to penetrate the Mafate cirque, a singularity which will allow the cirque to become a natural sanctuary with the passing of time. Non-hikers can admire this cirque by helicopter or in a microlight aircraft, or from the viewpoints of the Piton Maido or Cap Noir, to have a very nice overview of the whole scene. While the road does not penetrate to the interior of the cirque, there are many hiking trails. Each islet offers you the possibility of accommodation and catering: cozy gîtes which will allow you to discover the life of the Mafatais and to live a unique experience (the gîtes are booked through the three tourist information offices of the West, reseller of the regional booking centre).

DER TALKESSEL MAFATE: DAS ZENTRUM DES WANDERWEGES Wild, wüst ... der Talkessel Cirque de Mafate bildet die erstaunlichste Seite des bewohnten Zentrums im Nationalpark La Réunion. Der Talkessel wurde von der UNESCO zum Weltnaturerbe erklärt. Der Wanderweg ist die einzige Möglichkeit, um in den Talkessel Mafate zu gelangen; damit kann er zu einem zeitlosen Naturschutzgebiet werden. Nicht-Wanderer können diesen Talkessel im Hubschrauber oder Ultraleichtflugzeug (ULM) vom Aussichtspunkt des Piton Maïdo oder des Cap Noir bewundern, von wo aus man eine wunderschöne Aussicht auf die Gesamtlandschaft hat. Auch wenn keine Straße in das Innere des Talkessels führt, gibt es darin doch zahlreiche Wanderwege. Jedes Bergdorf bietet Ihnen verschiedene Herbergen und Restaurants an: Gemütliche Unterkünfte, die Ihnen das Leben der MafateBewohner nahe bringen und Sie eine einzigartige Erfahrung machen lassen (die Unterkünfte können von drei TouristenInformationszentren im Westen aus reserviert werden, der Vertretung für das regionale Reservierungszentrum).

Quelques randonnées

P iton Rouge Au cours de cette randonnée, axée sur l’histoire de l’esclavage et en particulier sur la période du marronnage, vous découvrirez Piton Rouge et les traces du passage du Roi Phaonce sur ces terres inhospitalières. Piton Rouge est un site remarquable de part ses points de vue sur la côte ouest, mais surtout du fait de son histoire : des esclaves en fuite appelés « marrons » se réfugièrent très loin et très haut dans les grottes et sur les pentes du Maïdo. Vous en saurez plus par le biais des tablettes explicatives disposées au départ du sentier. Démarrez doucement, ce large sentier monte tout du long en pente douce dans une forêt recouverte de fougères.

Vous débouchez sur une grande étendue. De petits tamarins des hauts offrent de jolies fleurs jaunes. Le sol rocailleux vous emmène sur le site du Piton Rouge. Cet ancien volcan qui culmine à 2402m, est recouvert de scories et, aux alentours, des Dykes (murs de basalte ou cheminées volcaniques qui alimentent en magma le volcan) qui constituaient un endroit stratégique pour les esclaves qui pouvaient ainsi voir arriver les détachements de chasseurs.

PITON ROUGE Over the course of this hike, focused on the history of slavery and in particular on the Maroon settlements of runaway slaves, you will discover Piton Rouge and walk in the footsteps of the mythical Maroon King Phaonce in these inhospitable lands. Piton Rouge is a remarkable site in terms of its viewpoints on the west coast but especially because of its history: runaway slaves called "Maroons" took refuge in caves very high up and very isolated on the slopes of Maïdo. You will learn more by means of explanatory plaques positioned at the trailhead. Take your time; this long trail rises gradually right along the trail in a forest carpeted in ferns. You arrive onto a large expanse. Highland tamarinds display lovely yellow flowers. Rocky ground takes you to the Piton Rouge. This ancient volcano that is 2402m high is covered in scoria deposits and in the neighbourhood, are the Dykes (walls of basalt or volcanic chimneys being fueled with magma from the volcano) which constituted a strategic spot for the slaves who could see the detachments of hunters or pursuers arrive.

PITON ROUGE Auf dieser Wanderung auf den Spuren der Geschichte der Sklaverei und insbesondere der Sklavenflucht (Marronnage) entdecken Sie den Piton Rouge und die Spuren von König Phaonce, der sich an diesem unwirtlichen Ort aufgehalten hat. Der Piton Rouge ist einerseits ein bemerkenswerter Ort wegen seiner Aussicht auf die Westküste, andererseits aber insbesondere wegen der Geschichte der geflohenen Sklaven, die "Marrons" genannt wurden und sich sehr weit und sehr hoch in die Grotten und Hänge des Maïdo flüchteten. Sie erfahren mehr dazu aus den Erläuterungstafeln am Ausgangspunkt des Wanderwegs. Starten Sie langsam; dieser breite Pfad führt stetig bergauf in einen Wald voller Farne. Sie kommen zu einer großen Ebene. Kleine Höhentamarinden tragen hübsche kleine Blüten. Über den Felsboden gelangen Sie an den Piton Rouge. Dieser alte Vulkan auf 2402 m Höhe ist mit Schlacken und in der Umgebung mit Dykes (Basaltmauern bzw. Vulkanschlote, die den Vulkan mit Magma versorgen) bedeckt , was für die Sklaven strategisch wichtig war, da sie auf diese Weise sehen konnten, wenn die ausgesandten Jäger im Anmarsch waren.

Le Grand Bénare Toute la région du Grand Bénare rappelle l'épopée des Noirs marrons aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles. Les premiers colons s'étant installés dans l’Ouest, c'est dans les Hauts de cette région que s'enfuirent les premiers marrons. On trouve dans le Bourbon Pittoresque d'Eugène Dayot l'illustration de cette épopée "l'engagement au sommet du Bénare". "BÉNARE" est un nom donné à l'époque par les esclaves marrons : Bé : très ; naro : froid

Par Trois-Bassins, il faut monter pendant 2h du gîte des Tamarins jusqu'à la Glacière. Vous passerez de 1760m à 2500m d'altitude. Puis compter encore 2h jusqu'au Grand Bénare. C’est une randonnée chargée d’histoire avec de magnifiques vues sur le littoral.

THE GRAND BÉNARE The whole region of the Grand Bénare recalls the epic of the Maroon Blacks in the 17th and 18th centuries. The first colonies were established in the West and it is to these mountainous areas of the region that the first Maroon fled. We can see in the Bourbon Pittoresque book by Eugène Dayot the illustration of this epic "the engagement on the summit of Bénare". "BÉNARE" was a name given at the time by Maroon slaves: Bé: very; naro: cold By Trois-Bassins, it is necessary to climb for 2 hours from the Tamarins gîte up to the Glacière. Kélonia a réussi à s’imposer dans tout l’Océan Indien comme le grand centre d’observation, de recherche et de découverte de ces reptiles vulnérables et menacés. A travers un parcours muséographique très ludique, l’observatoire des tortues marines a pour mission de sensibiliser le public à l’environnement et à la protection des tortues. Il participe en parallèle à des programmes d’étude, de recherche et de conservation des tortues marines. Kélonia possède 4 des 5 espèces de tortues marines présentes dans l’océan Indien : la tortue verte, la tortue imbriquée, la tortue caouanne et la tortue olivâtre. Kélonia ist es gelungen, das größte Observatoriums-, Forschungs- und Erlebniszentrum für diese gefährdeten und bedrohten Reptilien im Indischen Ozean zu werden. Über einen sehr spielerischen Museumsparcours will das Observatorium für Meeresschildkröten die Öffentlichkeit für die Umwelt und den Schutz der Schildkröten sensibilisieren. Parallel dazu ist es an Studien-, Forschungs- und Erhaltungsprogrammen für Meeresschildkröten beteiligt. Kélonia besitzt vier der fünf Meeresschildkröten, die im Indischen Ozean zu finden sind: Die grüne Meeresschildkröte, die Karettschildkröte, die unechte Karettschildkröte und die OlivBastardschildkröte.

KÉLONIA Kélonia has succeeded in placing itself as THE centre in the entire Indian Ocean for observation, research and discovery of these vulnerable and threatened reptiles. Through an informative and very funfilled museographic exhibition, the observatory has as its mission to raise public awareness of sea (or marine) turtles and their protection, and environmental issues. It also participates in study programmes, research and preservation of sea turtles. Kelonia possesses 4 of the 5 species of sea turtles in the Indian ocean: the Green turtle, the Hawksbill turtle, the Loggerhead turtle and the Olive Ridley.

It is a discovery and a tour unique to Réunion. The Pointe au Sel at SaintLeu allows for the extraction of a salt of exceptional quality. This natural area of the western coastline has salt works where the salt is harvested by "paludiers" or salt-marsh workers and a salt museum. The whole thing helps you know the singular history of this site and of this condiment. A meeting with the past and with sauniers, the workers with traditional skills who carried the salt extracted from pans. After a visit to the site, the manufacturing processes of salt, the differences between finest "fleur de sel" sea-salt, coarse salt and ground salt will no longer hold any secrets for you. Les sites naturels remarquables

L a Pointe de trois bassins Situé à la sortie sud de la Saline-les-Bains, garezvous au niveau du parking de la Pointe de TroisBassins. Ce côté du littoral Ouest reste très naturel et très peu fréquenté: entre savane et petites criques pour lézarder au soleil sur les rochers, c’est le lieu idéal pour trouver un peu de tranquilité. La Pointe de Trois bassins est protégée par le conservatoire du littoral.

Vous pourrez vous balader et déguster de très bons hamburgers maison au Camion-Bar de la pointe : accueil chaleureux assuré ! Ou prévoir votre pique-nique pour vous allonger sous les arbres de l’arrière-plage.

L e souffleur

Le souffleur est une curiosité naturelle du littoral de Saint-Leu. La rencontre de la houle de l'Océan indien et de la côte rocheuse de l'île produisent l'apparition d'un jet d'embruns, violent, capable de monter jusqu'à plusieurs mètres de hauteur. C'est le caractère magmatique du littoral qui est à l'origine de ce phénomène. À cet endroit précis, la roche volcanique forme une grotte sous-marine qui s'achève par une ouverture en forme de petit entonnoir. L'eau s'engouffre dans la cavité. Elle met sous pression l'air présent dans la grotte. Ce dernier s'échappe par la petite ouverture finale, emportant avec lui les gouttes d'eau qui composent le jet. L'effet spectaculaire est garanti par forte houle !

DIE POINTE DE TROIS-BASSINS Sie befindet sich am südlichen Ende der Saline-les-Bains. Stellen Sie Ihr Auto am Parkplatz der Pointe de Trois-Bassins ab. Diese Seite der Westküste ist immer noch sehr naturbelassen und wenig besucht: Zwischen Savanne und kleinen Kanälchen kann man hier auf den Felsen die Sonne genießen und sich herrlich entspannen. Die Pointe de Trois-Bassins gehört zum Schutzgebiet der Küstenverwaltung. Sie können herumspazieren und köstliche hausgemachte Hamburger in der Camion Bar an der Pointe verzehren, wo sie herzlich empfangen werden, oder unter den Bäumen im Hinterland des Strandes picknicken.

THE POINTE DE TROIS BASSINS Located to the south exit of Salineles-Bains, you can park at the parking level of the Pointe-de-Trois-Bassins. This side of the western coastline remains very unspoiled and uncrowded: with grassy plains and small coves to laze on the rocks in the sun, it is the ideal place to find a bit of tranquillity. The Pointe-de Trois-Bassins is protected by the coastal conservatory. You can walk around and enjoy very good home-made burgers at Camion-Bar on the Point: warm welcome assured! Or don't forget to take your picnic so you can stretch out under the trees of the backbeach.

DER SOUFFLEUR Zufahrt: Südliche Ausfahrt von Saint-Leu

Der Souffleur ist eine Naturschauspiel an der Küste von Saint-Leu. Hier trifft die Brandung des Indischen Ozeans auf die Felsküste der Insel und erzeugt eine gewaltige Gischt, die bis auf mehrere Meter ansteigen kann. Das Phänomen beruht auf dem vulkanischen Ursprung der Küste. Genau hier bildet der Vulkanfelsen eine unterirdische Grotte, die an ihrem Ende eine kleine trichterförmige Öffnung aufweist. Das Wasser ergießt sich in die Höhle. Es übt auf die Luft in der Höhle einen Druck aus. Dieser entweicht durch die kleine Öffnung an ihrem Ende und reißt dabei die Wassertropfen mit, die den Wasserstrahl bilden. Bei starker Brandung führt das zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis!

The Souffleur or blowhole is a natural curiosity of the Saint-Leu coastline. The meeting of the swell of the Indian Ocean and the rocky coast of the island produce the appearance of a violent jet spray, able to reach up to several meters in height. The magmatic nature of the coastline is the origin of this phenomenon. At that specific location, the volcanic rock forms a sub-marine cave which is achieved by an opening in the shape of a small funnel. Water is sucked up into the cavity. It pressurises the air present in the cave. This air escapes through the small end opening, taking with it the drops of water that make up the jet. A dramatic effect is guaranteed by a heavy swell!

Pendant la saison des baleines, il ne se passe pas un jour sans que les baleines charment les spectateurs sur la côte ouest de la Réunion. Ah que la nature est belle... Pour être aux premières loges, vous pouvez : - Monter à bord d’un bateau : de nombreux prestataires vous proposent des départs depuis les ports de plaisance du Port, de SaintGilles et de Saint-Leu, certaines sociétés se sont spécialisées d’ailleurs dans des safaris baleines. Des locations de bateaux sont également possibles pour les personnes qui détiennent un permis ; - Vous pouvez également vous adresser aux clubs de plongée, qui proposent des sorties découverte et observation en Palmes / masques et tubas ; - Ou encore survoler l’océan à bord d’Ulm ou de parapente moteur, à bord desquels vous aurez une magnifique vue sur ces beautés de la nature. Not a day goes by, during this whale season, without spectators being absolutely charmed by the whales on the west coast of Réunion. Ah, Nature is just so beautiful ... To get up close to them, you can: - Board a boat as numerous operators offer trips from the marinas at Le Port, Saint-Gilles and Saint-Leu. Some companies specialise in whale-watching safaris. Those persons who have permits can also hire boats. - You can also address enquiries to diving clubs, which offer discovery outings with fins, masks and snorkel - Or you can even survey the ocean from the vantage point of an ultralight plane or a paraglider, with a wonderful view on these beauties of nature.

Zahlreiche Unternehmen bieten Fahrten ab den Yachthäfen von Le Port, SaintGilles und Saint-Leu an. Einige Gesellschaften haben sich überdies auf Walsafaris spezialisiert. Boote können auch gemietet werden, wenn man einen Bootsschein hat. - Sie können sich ebenfalls an die Tauchclubs wenden, die Erkundungs- und Beobachtungstouren mit Flossen, Tauchmaske und Schnorchel-Ausrüstung anbieten. - Oder Sie können den Ozean mit einem Ultraleichtflugzeug (ULM) oder Paragleitschirm überfliegen, von wo aus Sie eine herrliche Sicht auf diese Naturschönheiten haben.
