2012 SEASON IN REVIEW * Andrew Heaney was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on March 19 and May 7. He was the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week on May 8, the CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Pitcher of the Week on May 9, a CollegeBaseball360.com Primetime Performer of the Week on April 17 and May 8 and earned a spot in the College Baseball Hall of Fame National All-Star Lineup on March 20 and May 8. * Trey Whaley garnered Big 12 Newcomer of the Week accolades on April 30. • Second baseman Robbie Rea tied a Big 12 record with 16 total bases in a game against Alabama A&M. In that game, Rea became just the 10th player in OSU history to hit three home runs in a game. He also collected nine RBIs in the contest, one shy of the OSU and Big 12 records. • Rea was OSU’s leading hitter in 2012, and he ranked among the Big 12’s best also, finishing in the top 10 in the league in hits (72), doubles (18). His .324 batting average ranked 11th. • Pitcher Chase Stevens struck out 10-straight batters in a game against Bowling Green State. • Third baseman Mark Ginther started all 172 games of his final three seasons at the hot corner and finished his OSU career ranked among the top 10 on the school’s all-time list in at-bats (4th with 808) and doubles (8th with 50).

••• Among OSU’s team statistical highlights in 2012 were: • The Cowboys set a school record with a .980 fielding percentage. That also led the Big 12 and ranked third nationally. • OSU’s pitching staff posted some impressive numbers. The Cowboys led the Big 12 in batting average against (.232), runs allowed (208) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.75). They were second in ERA (3.08), strikeouts (497) and complete games (7). ••• • OSU had six players selected in the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. At least six Cowboys have been drafted in each of the last seven years, and OSU is averaging almost eight draftees per year during that span.
