“This is a great day great day for ORU basketball and for me personally,” said head coach Scott Sutton upon Sean’s addition to the staff. “I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity that (ORU President) Dr. Mark Rutland has provided for me and Sean to work together, and for Sean to lend his expertise to our staff.” With a combined 1,049 wins, the Sutton’s are the most successful father-son basketball coaching combination in NCAA history. Sean Sutton is a 1992 graduate of Oklahoma State where he helped guide the Cowboys to the Sweet 16 in 1991 and 1992. He played two seasons (1987-89) at Kentucky where he was also coached by his father. Sutton helped the Cowboys to a 52-16 record in his two seasons as a player, earning honorable men-

Former Oklahoma State men’s basketball head coach Sean Sutton begins his third season at ORU and his second as an assistant coach after serving as the executive advisor during the 2010-11 season. The brother of head coach Scott Sutton, Sean Sutton owns over 15 years of college coaching experience. “This is an exciting time for me and my family,” said Sutton.“This is an opportunity for me to do what I love with a staff that I admire, and with my best friend, my brother Scott.” Sean Sutton coached Oklahoma State from 2006-08 and posted a 39-29 record in two seasons in Stillwater. He previously spent 13 seasons as an assistant to his father Eddie, who coached the Cowboys for 16 years. Sean Sutton also served as an assistant at Mississippi during the 1992-93 campaign.

I’m happy to be a part of the program. It feels like I’m back home.” Prior to his stint at Missouri State, Brown served an assistant at Arkansas-Ft. Smith, helping the Lions to 43-17 record in two seasons (2002-04). Immediately after graduating from ORU, Brown spent the 2001-02 season as freshman boys basketball coach and assistant varsity coach at Metro Christian Academy in Tulsa. In three seasons as a player for the Golden Eagles (1998-2001), Brown appeared in 77 games with 34 starts, including 26 as a senior under thenrookie head coach Scott Sutton. As a senior, Brown

Kyan Brown, who helped ORU to its first MidContinent Conference basketball championship in 1999, begins his fifth season on staff at ORU. Brown, who graduated from ORU in 2001, spent four years (2004-08) as an assistant coach at Missouri State under former Golden Eagles head coach Barry Hinson prior to returning to his alma mater. “We’re very pleased about Kyan returning to ORU,” said Sutton. “He’s worked his way through the college coaching ranks, from junior college, to Missouri State and now here. He did a great job for Barry, and his enthusiasm and passion for the game make him a great addition to our staff.” In his new position at ORU, Brown assists with all facets of recruiting, including arranging campus and in-home visits with prospects. He will also assist with various other day-to-day duties within the
