vi. Indirect Costs Limitation: If the sponsor places a limit, or excludes the amount of indirect costs that can be requested, check “Yes.” Otherwise, check “No.” vii. Total Amount of Mandatory Committed Cost-Sharing: The total amount of the project’s costs that is not paid by the sponsor. Include all applicable direct and indirect costs. viii. Breakdown of Cost-Sharing: Each line should reflect the amount going to cost-share, the FRS account number that it is being charged to, and the initials of the person authorized to expend on that account (e.g., Dean, Department Chair). Only include cost-sharing in this section if sponsor agency explicitly requires or mandates a percentage of cost-share, or match on your proposed project. c. Faculty to be Paid by Project Year: This section should be completed only by MSU faculty being compensated or receiving release time for work on the project and should not include other project personnel. i.

Project Year: For each faculty member, Indicate the year of the project, i.e., 1, 2, 3.

ii. Proposal Role: Indicate if project member is the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator (CoPI). iii. Summer Stipend/# of Months: Indicate the number of months committed to the proposed project during the summer. iv. Summer Stipend/Grant $: Specify the amount to be paid for the summer months worked in the previous column. Faculty can be paid for two months in the summer at a rate of 10% of their base salary per month. v. RT Fall and RT Spring: Release Time: 1. Effort (%): Indicate the percentage of release time for the semester. One course of release time is equivalent to 12.5% effort. 2. Grant ($): Release time from courses is compensated by the grant at full salary rates. Generally, one class during the academic year is equal to 12.5% of salary. 3. Effort (%): Indicate the amount of release time for the semester. 4. Cost Share ($): Release time from courses that is not paid for by the sponsor is costshared at full salary rates. Generally, one class during the academic year is equal to 12.5% of salary. d. Special Considerations: If the project involves the use of Human Subjects and/or Animals, check the appropriate fields and proceed to MSU’s Compliance Office for additional information regarding required further approval processes.
