VOORWOORD FOREWORD Een ijskoude wind waait door Cultureel Nederland. Vooral voor de eigentijdse moderne dans ziet de toekomst er somber uit, met name in Amsterdam. Dansgroep Amsterdam geeft zich nog lang niet gewonnen en beraadt zich op de toekomst. Vanzelfsprekend houden wij u daarvan op de hoogte in onze nieuwsbrieven en op de website. Voorop staat de danskunst en onze passie die met u te delen in voorstellingen, locatieprojecten, workshops en evenementen. An icy wind is blowing through the cultural landscape of the Netherlands. The future looks especially sombre for contemporary modern dance, particularly in Amsterdam. Dansgroep Amsterdam will not give up, however, and is preparing for the future. Of course we will keep you informed of developments through our newsletters and on the website. The art of dance â&#x20AC;&#x201C; and our passion for sharing it with you in performances, site-specific projects, workshops and other events â&#x20AC;&#x201C; is at the top of our list. TRIP is a murderous yet fascinating fight to the finish on the theme of fanaticism, mob violence and hysteria, a ‘bubble’ of the hardness of the here and now. The piece is a nominee for the ‘Zwaan’ award for ‘most impressive dance production’. The jury commented, ‘TRIP en masse is an overwhelming dance performance which is at once hypnotic, fascinating and terrifying.’

Every year Dansgroep Amsterdam presents a programme in which emerging choreographers are given the opportunity to work with the companyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s experienced dancers. This way the choreographers can enrich their movement language and further develop their individual styles. The audience gets a glimpse into the future of modern dance. Three choreographers have been invited to VIEWTURE II: Jussi Nousiainen, Ivgi&Greben and Sjoerd Vreugdenhil. The stage set designed by Vreugdenhil connects the three works.

Dansgroep Amsterdam brengt jaarlijks een programma waarin nieuw choreografisch talent de kans krijgt om met de ijzersterke dansers van het ensemble te werken. Zo kunnen deze beginnende dansmakers hun bewegingstaal verrijken en een eigen stijl ontwikkelen. De bezoeker krijgt de gelegenheid een blik te werpen in de toekomst van de moderne dans. Voor VIEWTURE II zijn drie choreografen uitgenodigd: Jussi Nousiainen, Ivgi&Greben en Sjoerd Vreugdenhil. Het toneelbeeld van Vreugdenhil verbindt de drie werken met elkaar.

BAM! BAM! Krisztina de Châtel / Wilm a M arijnissen

Scenograaf en beeldend kunstenaar Wilma Marijnissen en choreografe Krisztina de Châtel hebben elkaar gevonden in een gezamenlijk doel om bijzondere locaties voor publiek toegankelijk te maken. Het resultaat is een samenwerking tussen de werknemers van BAM Wegen bv en dansstudenten van Codarts Rotterdam tegen een achtergrond van een bewegende kraan en betonmolens.

Set designer and visual artist Wilma Marijnissen and choreographer Krisztina de Châtel have found a common goal in making unusual sites accessible to audiences. The result is a collaboration between the employees of BAM Wegen BV and dance students of Codarts Rotterdam, set against a backdrop of a moving crane and cement mixers.

BAM is een coproductie van Dansgroep Amsterdam met Holland Dance Festival in samenwerking met Codarts Rotterdam en BAM Wegen bv. BAM is a co-production between Dansgroep Amsterdam and Holland Dance Festival in cooperation with Codarts Rotterdam and BAM Wegen BV.

Monumentale Timmerfabriek Dance in monumental building De monumentale Timmerfabriek in Vlissingen is decor en inspiratiebron voor een community arts project in Zeeland. Ruim vijftig Zeeuwse jongeren presenteren een choreografie van Krisztina de Ch창tel. Aansluitend speelt Dansgroep Amsterdam twee stukken: Language of the heart van Corneliu Ganea en Boerka van Krisztina de Ch창tel.

The Timmerfabriek in Vlissingen is both the inspiration and a monumental building that provides setting for a community arts project in the province of Zeeland. Over 50 local youths will perform a choreography by Krisztina de Ch창tel, followed by two works performed by Dansgroep Amsterdam: Language of the heart by Corneliu Ganea and Burka by Krisztina de Ch창tel.

Dit community art project wordt mogelijk gemaakt door Stichting DanZee in samenwerking met Scoop Zeeland en de Cultuurwerf Vlissingen .

Een ontmoeting tussen twee verschillende werelden. In een choreografie van Krisztina de Châtel gaan voetballers uit Arnhem de confrontatie aan met de dansers van Dansgroep Amsterdam. De dansers geven een reactie op elementen uit het spel en de training van de voetballers. Uiteindelijk smelten de twee disciplines samen tot één wereld.

Two worlds collide: football players from Arnhem face the dancers of Dansgroep Amsterdam in a choreography by Krisztina de Châtel. The dancers react to elements of the game and its training routine as the two disciplines ultimately crash into a single world.

Beijing, China Beijing, China Dansgroep Amsterdam opent de vierde editie van het Beijing Fringe Theater Festival in China. Gedurende twintig dagen spelen meer dan 100 voorstellingen in verschillende theaters verspreid over de stad. Dansgroep Amsterdam speelt drie voorstellingen in het indrukwekkende National Centre for the Performing Arts. Een combinatieprogramma met WALTZ van Krisztina de Ch창tel en TRIP en masse van White Horse. 12

Dansgroep Amsterdam will open the fourth edition of the Beijing Fringe Theater Festival in China. This 20-day festival offers more than 100 performances in theatres throughout the city. Dansgroep Amsterdam will perform three nights in the iconic National Centre for the Performing Arts. A combination programme of WALTZ by Krisztina de Ch창tel and TRIP en masse by White Horse.

Na het succes van Nomade (Krisztina de Châtel) in het van Gogh Museum speelt de voorstelling opnieuw tussen de werken van Picasso. Ditmaal in de Kunsthalle Bieleveld in Duitsland, in het kader van de expositie ‘Picasso 1905 in Parijs.’ Yoko Ono noemde Kunsthalle Bieleveld ooit het mooiste museum van de wereld.

Following its acclaimed premiere in Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum, Nomade will be revived among the works of Picasso in the Kunsthalle Bielefeld in Germany, as part of the special exhibition ‘Picasso 1905 in Paris.’ Yoko Ono once called the Kunsthalle Bieleveld the most beautiful museum in the world.

MOVING MEETINGS MOVING MEETINGS Dansgroep Amsterdam presenteert tijdens Moving Meetings op 6 oktober de voorstelling WALTZ van Krisztina de Châtel. Moving Meetings is een dynamisch tweedaags programma voor en over de dans, waarin de ontmoeting tussen makers, (internationale) programmeurs, marketeers en het publiek zelf centraal staat. Het vindt plaats voorafgaand aan de Nederlandse Dansdagen.

Dansgroep Amsterdam will perform WALTZ by Krisztina de Châtel at Moving Meetings on 6 October. Moving Meetings is a dynamic two-day programme for and about dance, with ‘meeting’ as its theme: between choreographers, Dutch and international presenters, marketers and the audiences themselves. It’s held as a lead-up to the Dutch Dance Festival (Nederlandse Dansdagen).

The ‘Zwanen’ – the dance awards in Holland – are presented on Saturday 8 October, during the Dutch Dance Festival in Maastricht. TRIP en masse by White Horse (Chris Leuenberger, Lea Martini en Julia Jadkowski), a Dansgroep Amsterdam production, is one of the nominees in the category ‘most impressive dance production’ of the season 2010/2011.

Gedreven door gedeelde herinneringen en creativiteit gaan twee vooraanstaande choreografen, Krisztina de Châtel en Ann Van den Broek, de dialoog aan in een gezamenlijke choreografie. Zij creëren vanuit hun verschillen én overeenkomsten een nieuwe wereld, reagerend op elkaars bewegingstaal.

Driven by shared memories and creativity, the two leading choreographers Krisztina de Châtel and Ann Van den Broek enter into a dialogue in this joint choreography. Responding to each other’s movement language, they create a new world that revolves around their differences and similarities.

De voorstelling gaat in première tijdens Julidans 2012 en gaat najaar 2012 op theatertour.

The performance will premiere during Julidans 2012 and will go on tour in the autumn of 2012.

The classic Föld will again be on show in the autumn of 2012 at various locations in Amsterdam. Krisztina de Châtel made Föld, Hungarian for earth, in 1985. Through its timeless and unique character, this performance continues to make a lasting impression on audiences and the media. De klassieker Föld is in het najaar 2012 opnieuw te zien op diverse locaties in Amsterdam. Krisztina de Châtel maakte Föld, Hongaars voor aarde, in 1985. Door zijn tijdloze en unieke karakter blijft de voorstelling grote indruk maken op publiek en pers. Voorafgaand aan de voorstelling presenteren niet-dansers en dansstudenten het resultaat van een workshop in en met de aarde van Föld.

Heeft u na de voorstelling vragen die u de dansers wilt stellen, wilt u graag uw ervaring over de voorstelling delen of bent u gewoon benieuwd naar wie de dansers zijn? Dansgroep Amsterdam biedt groepen mensen en leerlingen op aanvraag de mogelijkheid tot een nagesprek met de dansers.

Bezoek a an de studio / Visiting the studio U bent van harte welkom een kijkje achter de schermen te komen nemen en met een groep mensen een repetitie/training in de studio van Dansgroep Amsterdam te bezoeken. Na de repetitie is er gelegenheid met de dansers in gesprek te gaan.

Groups are also welcome to visit the studio to take a peek behind the scenes and watch a rehearsal class in the Dansgroep Amsterdam studio. Afterwards, youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll have an opportunity to talk with the dancers. 19

Workshop dans / Dance workshop Iedereen die kennis wil maken met moderne dans kan een dansworkshop volgen. Dansgroep Amsterdam geeft regelmatig workshops aan groepen mensen die ver van de danswereld af staan en geen danservaring hebben.

Ever fancied dancing yourself? You can with a danceworkshop. Dansgroep Amsterdam holds regularly workshops for groups of people far from the world of dance and who are totally new to it.

In samenwerking met Project Sally geeft Dansgroep Amsterdam ook workshops aan het basisonderwijs, studenten en amateurdansers. Voor komend seizoen biedt het gezelschap workshops aan in o.a. Arnhem (Dans a la Carte/Rezgui Company), Breda (Dansnest Breda), Eindhoven (Centrum voor de kunsten) en ’s Hertogenbosch (Amateurdans ’s Hertogenbosch).

In cooperation with Project Sally, Dansgroep Amsterdam also holds workshops for primary school students, students and amateur dancers. DANSERS dancers Het dansertableau voor het seizoen 2011/2012 bestaat uit acht vaste dansers en vier stagiaires. The ensemble of dancers for the 2011/2012 season is made up of eight company members and four trainee dancers.

Davide Cocchiara (1986, Italië/ Italy) Studeerde moderne dans, klassiek ballet en improvisatie aan de Movimento Danza in Italië. Hij ontving een beurs voor de Balleto di Torino en volgde een groot aantal workshops van bekende choreografen. Na zijn studie aan de Rotterdamse Dansacademie werkt hij voor o.a. Krisztina de Châtel en Noord Nederlandse Dans. Studied modern dance, classical ballet and improvisation at Movimento Danza in Italy. After receiving a study grant for the Balleto di Torino he took a great many workshops from well-known choreographers. After finishing his studies at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, he danced with Krisztina de Châtel, Noord Nederlandse Dans and others.

Jozefien Debaillie (1987, België/ Belgium) Volgde haar dansopleiding bij de Koninklijke Balletschool Antwerpen en studeerde daarna aan de Rotterdamse Dansacademie. Ze danste repertoire van o.a. Jiří Kylián en Nacho Duato, Toru Shimazaki en liep stage bij De Meekers en de Korzo productie van Marta Reig Torres. Na afronding van haar opleiding in 2008 werkte ze freelance bij o.a. Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel, De Meekers, Operadans, Les ballets du monde(USA) en Compania Primavera(PL). Began her dance training at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp, and continued at Codarts in Rotterdam. She danced repertoire by Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Toru Shimazaki and others and was a trainee with De Meekers and the Korzo production by Marta Reig Torres. After her training she freelanced also for Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel, De Meekers, Operadans, Les ballets du monde (USA) and Compania Primavera (PL).

Corneliu Ganea (1980, Roemenië/ Romania) Volgde klassiek en moderne dans bij verschillende scholen in Boekarest, Roemenië en Zürich, Zwitserland. Na vier jaar bij het Ballet Theater Augsburg in Duitsland gedanst te hebben was hij te zien bij Ballet Theater Munich, Galili Dance en Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel. Hij werkte een aantal jaar als freelance danser en choreograaf. Sinds januari 2011 is hij danser bij Dansgroep Amsterdam. Studied classical and modern dance at several schools in Bucharest, Romania and Zurich, Switzerland. After four years with the Ballet Theater Augsburg in Germany he performed with Ballet Theater Munich, Galili Dance and Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel. He worked for several years as a freelance dancer and choreographer. He has been with Dansgroep Amsterdam since January 2011.

Kelly Hirina (1978, Verenigde Staten/ United States) Studeerde aan de University of Michigan and Atlantic Acting School (NYC). De afgelopen tien jaar werkte zij als freelance danser en mimer in Amsterdam met verschillende choreografen en regisseurs, zoals Jakob Ahlbom, Suzy Blok, Dylan Newcomb, Jack Gallagher, Liat Waysbort, Boukje Schweigman en Theu Boermans. Sinds 2011 danst ze bij Dansgroep Amsterdam. Studied at the University of Michigan and Atlantic Acting School (NYC). For the last ten years she has freelanced as a dancer and mime in Amsterdam, working with various choreographers and directors including Jakob Ahlbom, Suzy Blok, Dylan Newcomb, Jack Gallagher, Liat Waysbort, Boukje Schweigman and Theu Boermans. She has been with Dansgroep Amsterdam since 2011.

Kiyan Khoshoie (1988, Zwitserland/ Switzerland) Kiyan (1988, Zwitserland) volgde zijn opleiding aan de Rotterdamse dansacademie. In 2009 en 2010 won hij een beurs voor jonge dansers in Zwitserland: Pour-cent culturel Migros. Tot 2011 danste hij bij IT Dansa en danste in werk van Alexander Ekman, Ohad Naharin, Rafael Bonachela and Jiří Kylián. In 2011 nam hij deel aan The international Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival in Stuttgart, Duitsland. Studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy. In 2009 and 2010 he won a scholarship for young dancers in Switzerland “Pour-cent culturel Migros”. He danced with IT Dansa in Barcelona. He performed work from Alexander Ekman, Ohad Naharin, Rafael Bonachela and Jiří Kylián. In 2011 he took part in The international Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival Stuttgart , Germany. 23

Yuval Lev (1986, Israël/ Israel) Begon op zijn 17e met klassieke en moderne danslessen. In datzelfde jaar ontving hij een Honory Dancer beurs van de Israelische Army Arts Committee. Began at 17 his classical and contemporary dance training and that same year received an Honorary Dancer scholarship from the Israeli Army Arts Committee. He continued his training at the Mateh Asher Dance Workshop. He danced for IT Dansa Jove Compania and for National Dance Company Wales. Amongst others he has performed works by Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Rafael Bonachela, Gustavo Ramirez and Stijn Celis.

Francesca Monti (1984, Italië/Italy) Is sinds 2009 danser bij Dansgroep Amsterdam. Tijdens haar opleiding aan de Rotterdamse Dansacademie liep ze stage bij Magpie Music Dance Company, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa en Glenn van der Hoff. Van 2006 tot 2008 danste ze bij Dansgroep Krisztina de Châtel. Has been a dancer with Dansgroep Amsterdam since 2009. While studying at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, she was a trainee with Magpie Music Dance Company, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Glenn van der Hoff. Natasha Rodina (1985, Rusland/Russia) Studeerde moderne dans aan de Nikolai Ogryzkov School of Contemporary Dance in Moskou en daarna aan de Rotterdamse Dansacademie. In 2004 danste ze voor Djazzex Productie en Korzo Producties (André Gingras). Van 2004 tot 2008 was ze danser bij NND/Galili Dance in Groningen. Sinds 2009 danst ze bij Dansgroep Amsterdam. Studied modern dance at the Nikolai Ogryzkov School of Contemporary Dance in Moscow, before starting at the Rotterdam Dance Academy. In 2004 she danced for Djazzex Productie and Korzo Producties (André Gingras). From 2004 to 2008 she was a dancer with NND/Galili Dance in Groningen. Ellen Houck (1988, België/Belgium) Stagiair/trainee Fontys Volgt de opleiding Theaterdans (richting danstheater/modern) aan de dansacademie van Fontys Hogeschool voor de kunsten. Daarnaast heeft ze diverse trainingen gevolgd bij o.a. Codarts in Rotterdam en Dance Factory Belgium. Currently in the Theatrical dance programme (specialising in dance theatre/modern) at the Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts dance academy. She has also taken various training courses with Codarts in Rotterdam, Dance Factory Belgium, and others.

Federica Rizzo (1989, Italië/Italy) Stagiair/trainee Codarts Begon op haar vierde met dansen bij Artedanza Padova in Italië. In 2008 ging ze naar de Rotterdamse Dansacademie waar ze in 2012 afstudeert. Began dancing at the age of fourth with Artedaza Padova in Italy. In 2008 she entered the Rotterdam Dance Academy, from where she will graduate in 2012.

Sasha Samion (1991, Canada/Canada) Stagiair/trainee Codarts Kreeg op haar derde haar eerste balletles. Van 2001 tot 2009 volgde ze professionele danstrainingen aan de National Ballet School in Toronto. Sinds 2010 studeert ze aan de Rotterdamse Dansacademie. Had her first ballet class at the age of three. She had her professional dance training at the National Ballet School in Toronto from 2001 until 2009. She has studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy since 2010.

Danilo Tesi (1983, Italië/Italy) stagiair/trainee Artez Heeft een Universitaire opleiding Psychologie afgerond en studeert nu dans aan de ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de kunsten. Hij danste in diverse voorstellingen zoals E van Ann Van den Broek en Twelve van Ed Wubbe. In 2011 danste hij als stagiair bij Anouk van Dijk. After completing a university degree in Psychology, he now studies at the ArtEZ School of Fine and Performing Arts. He has danced in various productions such as E by Ann Van den Broek and Twelve by Ed Wubbe. In 2011 he was a trainee dancer with Anouk van Dijk. 25

Dansgroep Amsterdam is the city of Amsterdam’s modern dance company. The company receives structural subsidy from the Netherlands Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) as part of its 2009-2012 arts plan.

Naast het ontwikkelen van nieuwe en actuele dansproducties en projecten, neemt Dansgroep Amsterdam succesvol repertoire in reprise voor nieuwe generaties publiek. Door te reflecteren op maatschappelijke thema’s maakt zij voorstellingen die tot in de haarvaten van de samenleving doordringen en jong en oud aanspreken.

Besides introducing new generations of audiences to its already acclaimed repertoire, Dansgroep Amsterdam develops new and topical dance productions and projects. Basing their work on socially relevant themes, the group designs performances that touch people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Dansgroep Amsterdam bewerkstelligt de internationale uitwisseling van danskunstenaars dankzij een groeiend netwerk wereldwijd. Hiermee geeft het gezelschap een impuls aan het Nederlands dansklimaat en brengt het buitenland in contact met Nederlandse cultuur.
