Le Gala Talent, au profit de l’Opéra de Montréal et du programme de formation de l’Atelier lyrique, c’est notre grand rendez-vous annuel pour célébrer, en famille, la relève lyrique.
The Talent Gala, benefiting the Opéra de Montréal and its Atelier lyrique training program, is the moment when we come together, as a family, to celebrate the emerging generation of opera artists.
Cette année, face à une pandémie qui a mis le secteur culturel à rude épreuve, il a fallu faire preuve d’audace et d’innovation pour se retrouver autrement. Bienvenue à notre tout premier Gala Talent virtuel, où vous entendrez directement de chez vous les finalistes des auditions nationales de l’Atelier lyrique sélectionnés parmi plus de cent auditions à travers le pays.
This year, faced with a pandemic that has put an enormous strain on the cultural sector, we have had to find bold and innovative ways to congregate. Welcome to our very first virtual Talent Gala, during which—from the comfort of your home— you will hear the finalists of the Atelier lyrique’s national auditions, selected from among more than a hundred artists across the country.

Grâce à la générosité de Vanda, chaque finaliste ce soir repart avec une bourse de 1 000 $. En plus de son don extraordinaire de 1 000 000 $ en soutien aux jeunes artistes de l’Atelier lyrique, Madame Treiser soutient depuis 2015 les auditions nationales par un don pluriannuel de 100 000 $.
Thanks to Vanda’s generosity, every finalist leaves with a $1,000 bursary tonight. In addition to her $1,000,000 pledge to support young artists at the Atelier lyrique, Mrs. Treiser has been supporting the National Auditions since 2015 with a multi-year gift of $100,000.

LES FINALISTES THE FINALISTS MARTINA MYSKOHLID La mezzo-soprano canadienne Martina Myskohlid complète actuellement sa maîtrise à Yale University, aux États-Unis. Parmi ses rôles marquants figurent Paula dans Florencia en el Amazonas de Daniel Catán, Cherubino dans Le nozze di Figaro de Mozart, Despina dans Così fan tutte également de Mozart, Elmire dans Tartuffe de Mechem ainsi que Béatrice dans Béatrice et Bénédict de Berlioz. / Canadian mezzosoprano Martina Myskohlid is currently pursuing a Master of Music at Yale University in the United States. Opera highlights include the role of Paula in Daniel Catán’s Florencia en el Amazonas, Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Elmire in Mechem’s Tartuffe, and Béatrice in Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict.
ANDREW DERYNCK Andrew Derynck est un ténor originaire de Jeanettes Creek, en Ontario. Il a pris part au programme d’artistes émergents de l’Opéra de Calgary après avoir terminé ses études en chant à l’Université Wilfrid-Laurier de Waterloo. Parmi ses rôles marquants figurent Rodolfo dans La Bohème de Puccini, le rôle-titre dans Les contes d’Hoffmann d’Offenbach et a créé le rôle du Père dans Ghost Opera de Veronika Krausas. / Tenor Andrew Derynck hails from Jeanettes Creek, Ontario. He was a member of the Emerging Artists program at Calgary Opera after having completed his voice studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. Performance highlights include Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème, the title role in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, and the role of the Father in the world premiere of Veronika Krausas’ Ghost Opera.
MATTHEW LI Matthew Li est une basse originaire d’Ottawa, en Ontario, et il complète actuellement une maîtrise en interprétation à la Jacobs School of Music de l’Université de l’Indiana. Parmi ses rôles marquants figurent Sarastro dans Die Zauberflöte de Mozart, Masetto et Il Commendatore dans Don Giovanni, toujours de Mozart, Simone dans Gianni Schicchi de Puccini, ainsi que Henry Davis dans Street Scene de Kurt Weill. MARC-ANTOINE BRÛLÉ Titulaire d’un baccalauréat en chant de l’Université de Montréal, MarcAntoine Brûlé complète cette année une maîtrise au Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, au cours de laquelle il a interprété les rôles d’Eisenstein dans Die Fledermaus de Johann Strauss II et du Prince Charmant dans l’opéra Cendrillon de Jules Massenet. À l’Université de Montréal, il a interprété Pluton dans l’opéra bouffe Orphée aux enfers d’Offenbach. En août 2019, dans le cadre du Rendez-vous musical de Laterrière, Marc-Antoine a chanté la Sérénade pour ténor, cor et cordes de Benjamin Britten. / Possessing a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Université de Montréal, Marc-Antoine Brûlé is pursuing his Master’s this year at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he has performed the roles of Eisenstein in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus and Prince Charming in Massenet’s Cendrillon. At the Université de Montréal, he portrayed Pluto in Offenbach’s comic opera Orphée aux enfers. In August 2019, as part of the Rendez-vous musical de Laterrière, he sang Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings.

Parmi ses rôles marquants figurent le Comte Almaviva dans Le nozze di Figaro de Mozart, qu’il a interprété à l’Université de Toronto et avec Long Reach Opera, Abraham Caplan dans Street Scene de Kurt Weill, ainsi que Guglielmo dans Così fan tutte de Mozart. Nicholas a également participé à l’atelier du Canadian Art Song Project qui portait sur l’opéra Dawn always begins in the bones de Ana Sokolović. / Canadian Baritone Nicholas Higgs recently completed the first year of a Master’s of Music in Opera Performance at the University of Toronto. Last opera highlights include the Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with both UofT and Long Reach Opera, Abraham Caplan in Weill’s Street Scene, and Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. Nicholas also took part in the Canadian Art Song Project’s workshop and performance of Ana Sokolović’s Dawn always begins in the bones.
MISHAEL EUSEBIO Mishael Eusebio est un ténor originaire de Toronto, en Ontario. Il détient un baccalauréat en interprétation de la Juilliard School of Music de New York, et termine actuellement sa maîtrise au College-Conservatory of Music de Cincinnati. Cette saison, il interprétera Iago dans des extraits de Otello de Rossini, Nemorino dans L’elisir d’amore de Donizetti ainsi que de Brighella lors de l’Opera Gala du CCM, et il sera de nouveau soliste avec le Bach Ensemble of St. Thomas, composé de musiciens de l’Orchestre symphonique de Cincinnati. Parmi ses rôles marquants figurent Bardolfo dans Falstaff de Verdi et Vašek dans La Fiancée vendue de Smetana. / Mishael Eusebio is a tenor hailing from Toronto, Ontario. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance at The Juilliard School in New York and is now in his final year of graduate studies at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.
