Launch of the Postdoc Centre – 22 May 2014 Postdocs of Cambridge
PdOC is the University Society for all postdoc research staff in Cambridge. The Postdoc Centre and Website, www.opda.cam.ac.uk were launched on the 22nd May 2014 and this launches the first phase of a University of Cambridge long-term plan to create better facilities for the more than 3,500 postdoctoral researchers who live and work in the City. This new centre is designed to be a home away from home for the Postdoctoral community and in the coming months many new development and social activities will be announced and we look forward to meeting you all soon. The staff at the centre will include many volunteers, most of whom are partners of current postdocs, who will run the centre five days a week. Two other organisations that play a key role in postdoc life, the PdOC Society and the Newcomers and Visiting Scholars (NVS), will also be located at the centre. The facilities, which include seminar rooms, meeting rooms and a small library, will be freely available to the postdoc community seven days a week. Including a committee room, seating up to 20, a 35-seat seminar room and a 110sq m multipurpose space for up to 80 people. Committee Room
