KICKZ x CHAMPION “NEVER NOT BALLIN” COLLECTION Omar Epps for KICKZ’ 25th Anniversary collection with Champion Honoring our influence on basketball, streetwear and sneaker culture since 1993, Champion and KICKZ co-created a dedicated #NeverNotBalllin capsule collection. For the face of the KICKZ x Champion Capsule Collection, we were looking for someone who embodied the grit and fire of 90s basketball and New York streetwear, someone who grew up in the 90s, lived the inner city life and paid his dues. Enter Omar Epps. Born and bred in Brooklyn, New York, Omar earned his acting chops alongside Tupac Shakur in the movie Juice and starred in the cult classic Love and Basketball, a must-see bball flick that made him a beloved figure in the basketball community. Omar truly represents the KICKZ #NEVERNOTBALLIN Lifestyle born in 1993. Same goes for the brand label we picked to partner up for this capsule collection – Champion. There is no other sportswear brand that is as synonymous with the golden era of 90s basketball fashion. As the official outfitter of all 27 teams of the NBA, Champion made NBA gear fashionable off-court. The big and colorful Knicks jacket, the baggy Lakers shorts as well as the original Dream Team jerseys. That was Champion gear made for the court but worn on the streets. Historic. Bold. Edgy. The impact Champion had on 90s street fashion can not be overstated. To this day many NBA enthusiasts and collectors still have their iconic Champion pieces from that era, emphasizing the importance and nostalgia of this decade in the sport of basketball and the major role Champion played in it. KICKZ created the official “Never Not Ballin” Anniversary capsule collection with classic Champion staples in mind, but elevated them with Polar Fleece. Complete headto toe outfits, designed in black and white, simple and understated yet on point in our message that with us basketball is always king and has been since 1993. For our 25th anniversary we are celebrating what we do and love best – bringing the world of basketball and street culture together to form something unique, emphasizing our authentic 90s roots in basketball and hip hop culture.
