The saloon features a full bar along with family dining. The establishment, accompanied by friendly employees, is a favorite destination for locals and tourists. In the morning scrumptious breakfast entries can be found, with burgers and chicken strips during the afternoon. Culminating to the evening where local folks come out to dance to local music on Friday and Saturdays. HONORABLE MENTION: Republic Brewing Company, Republic.

Great burgers and other home-cooked, fresh foods are offered, along with a sweeping view of Grand Coulee Dam. Tacos, fish, daily specials, desserts and beverages round out the menu. “Great food always! Never disappointed!” wrote one customer on Facebook. “Would recommend this to everyone who hasn’t tried it.” The Melody also won in the Best Restaurant category. Bar/Tavern - South The Club Okanogan A favorite downtown lunch spot in Okanogan and a great place to meet friends and take in a game. The fare includes burgers, tacos, steaks and Friday prime rib, plus plenty of beer and daily drink specials to wash it down. The walls feature photos and jerseys from local sports teams and personalities. The Club also won in the Best Pub Grub category and took honorable mention in the Best Restaurant category.

Espresso/Coffee N Grandma’s Attic Omak “We serve Bluestar Coffee from Twisp; who won the America’s Best Espresso Awar at Seattle’s Coffee Fest 2012,” owners of Grandma’s Attic said. “When you enter our shop you will be delighted with all kinds of lovelies you can’t live without.” The store has been a top pick by Chronicle readers for several years in the past, too. Winery/Brewery - S Methow Brewing Co. Twisp Although it’s one of the smallest commercial breweries in the world, the beers are big on flavor. A dozen taps at the bar offer a variety of lagers and ales fresh from the brewery in the next room. The brewery’s restaurant, the Twisp River Pub, offers hand-crafted house beers and soda pop, plus guest beers, wine and other beverages, plus a full range of food from burgers to pasta. Sampler trays of beer are offered, along with bottles, half-gallon growlers and kegs.

Fishing - South Banks Lake Grand Coulee Dam Banks Lake, an impoundment for irrigation water in the Columbia Basin Project, is managed by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. The 27mile-long lake offers fishing and 23 islands, including basalt and granite outcroppings, shrub steppe and wetlands. The Department of Fish and Wildlife maintains public fishing parking areas with outhouses at the southwest corner of the lake and north of Million Dollar Mile, where Highway 155 goes through and over the basalt cliffs. There is a parking area, without an outhouse, on Highway 155 at the south side of Million Dollar Mile. At Osborne Bay, a few miles north of Steamboat Rock state Park, the department maintains a primitive road that provides access and parking around part of Osborne Bay east of the highway. Scenic Views - South Crown Point Vista Grand Coulee Crown Point was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1940s and is managed and maintained by Washington State Parks. It’s a couple miles west of Grand Coulee off Highway 174. The site features an open air shelter that is a large sun dial, with the sun shining through a hole in the roof to let a beam of light fall on one of the 12 roof support columns representing the hours on the face of a clock. It offers a great view of Grand Coulee Dam and, if you go early enough, a stellar vantage point to the annual Fourth of July fireworks show at the dam.

Skiing/Snowboard - S Loup Loup Ski Bowl Between Twisp and Okanogan The ski area, off Highway 20 between Okanogan and Twisp, is operated by the non-profit Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation on U.S. Forest Service land. The

area sits on 300 acres of diverse terrain and has plenty to offer both beginner and advanced skiers and snowboarders. There are 10 cut runs on Little Buck Mountain with a 1,240-foot vertical drop. Along with a quad chair, Poma lift and beginner rope tow, the area offers a terrain park, tubing hill, certified ski school, equipment rental shop, day lodge with rock fireplace and food concessions. Once the snow flies, the hill is open Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Stonerose Interpretive Center offers a unique experience for youngsters and adults hoping to add fossil specimens to their collections. The fossil center also serves as a research center for visiting academics. The organisms found at Stonerose lived nearly 50 million years ago in a time known as the Eocene Epoch. Voters weren’t specific on location in Conconully, but we suspect you could give your special someone a kiss while on the lake, in one of their restaurants, while enjoying a cold one or just enjoying the outdoors. HONORABLE MENTION: The Mirage Theater, Omak.

Place to canoodle - S North Dam Park Grand Coulee Voters again weren’t specific in the canoodling category, but we suspect North Dam Park has the same appeal as most parks for most romantics finding a time to sweep a special someone off their feet in that parks are often quiet and serene. The runner-up also has the advantage of quiet and serene, but we suspect the weird factor of making out in a cemetary was just too much to stomach for most people.

The beautiful tile, clean sinks and porcelain thrones at Magoo’s Restaurant were voted the Best Public Restroom North by Best Of voters.

Voters were a bit confused by the category for public restrooms, since most public restrooms are not intended only for customers. Voters may have favored the bathroom at Magoo’s, but their food is tough to beat as well...including some unbelievable breakfast dishes served up all day.

Public restroom - South Pateros Super Stop Pateros Cleanliness in the final touches shows the mark of a well-kept establishment and Pateros Super Stop is no exception. The convenience store located on the south end of Pateros is a popular spot in that it is part of Howard’s on the River, which includes the Lakeshore Inn and Rivers Restaurant.
