Sparks, 69.

This school year our principal is Marko Ristic, our PE teacher. We are very pleased about his new function although we miss him on our classes because he is one of our favorite teachers. He is very busy these days, so we had to make an appointment appointment in order to get the interview interview. Here’s what he has told us. SPARKS:: For the beginning, tell us something about yourself because there are people who know you less. PRINCIPAL : My name is Marko Ristic, I finished the primary school ”Ucitelj Tasa” and the secondary school “Nikola Tesla”, and later, the university in Nis. I have been working for ten years in this school. I’m interested in many other things all connected with sport in order to help children to get to know each other through various sports activities. SPARKS:: This function is a new and interesting experience for you, how do you fell about it? PRINCIPAL: At this very moment I’m really enthusiastic. On the one hand everything is familiar to me-pupils, pupils, colleagues, stuff, and on the other hand there is a new phase of my work in front of me. I feel and I know that my colleagues and I hav havee both the wish and the strength to make our school better and more beautiful and successful . SPARKS:: Has your relationship with your colleagues changed ?Now you are the one who sets tasks, aren’t you? PRINCIPAL: I have to admit that our relationship has changed but for the better. It is easier for me because I know them well, I know their work, I know their needs and in that way I can help them in the best possible way . Of course, it’s vice versa-they versa they know and support me and we enjoy working together. SPARKS: Is there anything that you would change? PRINCIPAL: I want our children to be more sociable, to have better results on an entrance examination, to have a pleasant surrounding, the garden and the schoolyard, all in all my aim is to have happy andd successful pupils. SPARKS:: Do you miss your PE classes? PRINCIPAL:: I’m glad you asked. Yes, I miss my PE classes because I like children and I like working with children. However, I work with children even in this way, as a principal, I often meet and talk to them . SPARKS:: Do you have any advice for us? PRINCIPAL: L: Learn, be diligent, creative and do good things - this is the only way to reach happiness in life. Petra @ Teodora

Sparks, 69. BEFORE & NOW Grandma: Hello, Slobodan. What are you doing? Me: Hi, grandma. I’m writing an ee-mail to my friend from England. Grandma: An e-mail? mail? What’s that? Me: It’s an electronic message on the internet. Grandma: Oh, you kids of today! You only go on about the internet. We didn’t have such a thing when we were young. Grandpa(coming in): Hello, every everyone! I hear you are mentioning the time when we were young. Grandma: Oh, yes. Slobodan is writing… What’s the word again? Me: An e-mail, grandma. Grandma: Oh, an e-mail. Grandad : Oh, those kids now a days! They have everything: computers, mobile phones, lap tops, tablets… When we were children, we didn’t even have a TV. A family who had the radio was considered a rich family. Grandma: I remember when our neighbours bought the first TV set in our village. We used to gather round at their house every even evening and stay up till late. Me: Wow! What did you watch? Grandad: Well, there was only one channel, and it was usually the news. Me: Only one channel? It was boring! Grandad: Actually, it wasn’t boring at all. We enjoyed immensely. We talked, laughed, played games. Grandma: Boring? We didn’t know the word ,,boring”. Children in those days helped their parents and grandparents in the field, in the house and with the cattle. And we still had our school obligations. Me: Really? Did you work in the field when whe you were my age? Grandma and Grandad: Of course we did! Me: I think our age is better then your age. I can’t imagine the life without a computer, or the internet… Grandpa: Well, it’s true we didn’t have any of those things, but we didn’t need them beca because life was simpler. We didn’t ask for more. Grandma: We were poor, but were happy in those days. Me: I believe I wouldn’t change place with you, Grandad? Grandad: Well, to be honest, nest, neither would I, my son. Snowy Bar Jokes Cold Winter The Indians asked their Chief in Autumn if the Winter was going to be cold or not. Not really knowing an answer, the chief replies that the Winter was going to be cold with lots of snow and that the members of the village were to collect wood to be prepar prepared. Being a good leader, he then went to the next phone booth and called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is this winter to be cold?" The man on the phone responded, "This Winter is going to be quite cold indeed." So the Chief went back to speed up his people to collect even more wood to be prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again, "Is it going to be a very cold winter?" "Yes", the man replied, "it's going to be a very cold Winter." So the Chief goes back to his people and orders them to go and find every scrap of wood they can find. Two weeks later he calls the National Weather Service again: "Are you absolutely sure that the Winter is going to be very cold?" "Absolutely," the man replies, "the Indians are collecting wood like crazy!" New England Home My husband and I purchased an old home in Northern New York State from two elderly sisters. Winter was fast approaching and the years first snow came early and I was concerned about the house's lack of insulation. "If they could live here all those years, so can we!" my husband confidently declared. One November night the temperature plunged to below zero, and we woke up to find interior walls covered with frost. My husband called the sisters to ask how they had kept the house use warm. After a rather brief conversation, he hung up. "For the past 30 years," he muttered, "they've gone to Florida for the winter." She followed fo the plow for about forty-five five minutes. Finally the driver of the truck got out and asked her what she was doing. And she explained that her dad had told her if she ever got stuck in a snow storm, to follow a plow. A SCARY STORY One gentleman drove home. It was deep night. He came upon the tracks ... at that time there were no trains so that the railroad ramp was raised. At a time when the car crossed the rails, right out of nowhere, rapidly encountered a train! The man added gas, but too late ... He closed his eyes, expecting attack but ........ composition is passed through it and disappeared suddenly as he found it. He's still in shock, stood aside to calm down. Suddenly the windows wagon began to appear, on all sides, a bloody clue! They were the prints of children's hands! Shaking with fear, the man remembered that it was true at the time, a year before the train hit a bus returning from excursions! Petar Kuzmanović

The Legend of Jack Jack-o`-Lantern Custom of curving the pumpkins started on the Irish legend about blacksmith named Jack. One of the story about he tricked the Devil tells that Jack offered his soul to Him in exchange of one drink, and when Devil turned into a coin so Jack could pay for his drink, Jack put Devil in his pocket where Jack had a cross. Then Devil couldn't come back to his original form so they made another deal that for 10 years, devil would leave him alone. We may all hate Devil, but he made his promise come com true. 10 years later Devil returns for Jack soul. Then Jack asks him to collect some apples for him. Devil picked him an apple but in the meantime Jack drew a cross on the tree so devil couldn't take his soul. When Jack soul finally left his body God didn't di let him enter in the Paradise, and when he went to Hell Devil sent him to the dark ( he also didn't let him enter the Hell) and gave him coal so he would get rid of him. Jack had in his pocket a carrot which he curved and put coal in it. Since then Jacks soul is wondering in the dark without finding home all alone only caring his carrot in his pocket. That's how Jack-o'-Lantern Lantern became a Legend but also a symbol of a soul who is wondering between the worlds.

Sparks, 69. In History... Origin of this holiday is based on Ancient Celtic Holiday named ""Sathein"" dedicated to same named pagan godness (Božanstvo). Celt were celebrating their New year on November 1. Night before New Year they celebrated "Samhein". They beleived that on that day the Ghosts of the dead were returning to Earth only to make problems.Celt pagan priests were building big bonfires (lomače) where people gathered to burn animals, plants, crops and so on... During the celebration they wore costumes, usually made from animal skin and heads. Jovan Jovana Stojanović VII1 Visiting the American Cultural Centre in Nish There aren’t many places in our city where we can practice the use of English language and learn something more about the culture and everyday life of English speaking people, but every year ye we take our pupils to a special library where reading is just one of the activities they can grow on. The pupils have the opportunity to become the members of the American centre and use their books, rent and watch different genres of movies, play games, mes, computer and some social games as well, learn about history, science, rock music or whatever interests them. You can see on these photos how happy they are. That’s because they are playing games and reading magazines. But we like to think it’s also because because they are using English. Actually we know for sure that these children like to learn and would really like to explore all the modern methods which include active learning. We see it every day and as teachers feel helpless sometimes, since we are in no position to enable them adequate conditions for discovering their possibilities. Every time we visit the Centre we feel proud of our pupils because they show how motivated they are. And every time we get back to school they ask us when we’ll take them th there again. That’s what keeps us motivated and strong enough to carry on and be better teachers. That’s why we like this job. And finally that’s why we’ll take them back to the American Cultural Centre soon.
