Few fields in medicine have been changing as dramatically as the field of Gynecology. With new developments in cancer prevention and prediction, we can look to a day when diseases which were once life threatening are of historical interest only. Most cancer of the cervix is now preventable through vaccination. The genetics of breast and ovarian cancer continue to be clarified. The management of menopause is as well studied as any issue in medicine. The amount of information available to empower women of all ages with knowledge is un-precedented. Perhaps the most dramatic changes are those involving the development of minimally invasive surgical instrumentation. We now have the ability to deal with a wide range of surgical problems as out-patients. Endometrial ablation techniques can all but eliminate menstrual flow. Sterilization can be performed with no incisions.
Urine control problems can often be treated with a 20 minute sling procedure. These technologies and more have minimized recovery, allowing women to return to their normal activities quickly.
New Gastroenterologist on the Raulerson Hospital Staff Albert R. Bravo, M.D. is proud to announce the opening of the Lake Okeechobee Digestive Disease Center in association with Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, Florida. Dr. Bravo was trained in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Miami and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. Bravo is board certified in both specialties and brings 14 years of experience in treating diseases of the digestive system to Raulerson Hospital. In addition, he has completed additional training in Hepatology and is well versed in the treatment of chronic liver diseases such as Hepatitis “C” and other disorders.

Dr. Bravo performs endoscopic procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy and will offer treatment to patients with conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder and biliary system. Dr. Bravo will be available to see patients in Okeechobee and the surrounding area starting October 1, 2008.
