Topics include: health and safety regulations, work-place professionalism, and basic and specialized cleaning.

Do you want to run your own esthetics business? Train for a career with endless possibilities in a professional spa environment, with industry-experienced instructors. CANNABIS TRAINING

Okanagan College is now offering cannabis training courses that provide unique insights into the emerging industry of medicinal and recreational marijuana. Learn about the regulatory policies and business opportunities in this unfolding market, investment strategies for individual investors and best practices in pest management for cannabis production. *Please note when registering for the following workshops/courses that there may be an age requirement of 19 years of age or older.

Cannabis Business Fundamentals This introductory course is designed for those who are interested in the rapidly growing cannabis industry. With the expanding interest in medicinal and recreational marijuana, there is an emerging industry and regulatory environment under development. This course will explore policy choices and the unfolding business opportunities within the cannabis space. Growing Your Own Cannabis Growing your own cannabis and being self-sufficient is possible. You will no longer be dependent on others, you can control the quality of the cannabis and you’ll also have a new and fun hobby. Growing cannabis indoors or outdoors presents a unique set of challenges and the sheer volume of information available on this subject can be overwhelming. This course provides key information for selecting seeds or clones, equipment requirements and the process of growing cannabis while adhering to the legal regulations. Pest Management for Cannabis Production This workshop is for persons growing cannabis plants indoors or outdoors and is designed for commercial growers of medicinal cannabis, persons growing cannabis for personal use or persons interested in working in this industry. The content will also be of interest to persons working in greenhouse production of flowers and vegetables. The workshop will guide students through a review of the main pest problems of this cannabis production and discuss management tools that are effective and meet the requirements of Health Canada. The morning will be a detailed focus on powdery mildew and spider mites, the two key pest problems of cannabis. We will examine all options for management, either for organic production or with conventional pesticides registered for this crop. Seed to Harvest – Cannabis Botany and Plant Science Learn about introductory cannabis botany and plant science, and how it applies to entry-level positions in the cannabis industry. Explore different varieties of cannabis and their unique characteristics and learn about growth mediums as well as the stages of cannabis plant lifecycles from seed to harvest. Red Cross Babysitting Help your child build valuable life skills in the Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course. Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for anybody who needs training for work requirements, or who wants more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace, at home or at play.
