Sarah H. Bogard Director of Career Technology Indianapolis Public School System

arah H. Bogard is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional after 51 years in the Educational field. Sarah is the Director of Career Technology with the Indianapolis Public School System.

In her current role, Sarah specializes in Administration; Technology; Secondary Education; and Curriculum. Sarah earned her Ed.S. from Indiana University. Susan Madison Smith

Associate Professor of Safety and Health Education and Director of the OSHA Heartland Training Institute, Indiana University BLOOMINGTON, IN

S

usan Madison Smith is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Education. Susan is an Associate Professor of Safety and Health Education and Director of the OSHA Heartland Training Institute and Education Center at Indiana University. Indiana University is a major multi-campus public research institution, grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, and a world leader in professional, medical, and technological education. Indiana University’s mission is to provide broad access to undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education for students throughout Indiana, the United States, and the world, as well as outstanding academic and cultural programs and student services. In her current position, Susan specializes in safety and health, in addition to OSHA training. She teaches graduate courses in injury prevention, research and emergency preparedness, and her research focuses on improved emergency preparedness and the evacuation of high-risk groups. Susan holds a Level III Certification in Homeland Security and is a member of the National Safety Council and the International Emergency Society. Furthermore, Susan traveled to visit a doctoral student in the United Arab

Emirates (UAE) to learn more about the surveillance system used to record fatalities in the UAE and to determine if a difference exists between the causes of accidental death between citizens and non-citizens from countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Iran working in the UAE. Moreover, Susan authored an award-winning paper entitled Disaster Response: Community Mental Health Service Capacity in the United States, which was presented in 2008, and has had several additional journal articles published in 2009 for the International Journal of Emergency Management. Due to her successes, Susan was recognized with the honor of Cambridge Publishing’s 2008 Professional of the Year in Educational Public Health and Safety, and in her spare time enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her mother. Throughout the course of her education, Susan earned a Doctor of Education degree in Health Education with a specialization in Safety from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Science degree in Public Health focused on Environmental Management and Participatory Planning from the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major of Biology and Chemistry from Berry College.
