O’FALLON CHAMBER CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF HELPING BUSINESSES

T

his is a special month for the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce. On September 15, 1953, our Chamber was officially incorporated. During our move last year, while purging the storage room, we found a box of historical documents, including our articles of incorporation and board minutes. As you can imagine, O’Fallon was a much different place 60 years ago. Looking through the minutes, there is no doubt that the leaders of our early Chamber were just as committed to the economic vitality of O’Fallon that we still work for. Interstate 70 was making its way through town and the big discussion at Chamber Board meetings was which neon sign

the Chamber should buy to direct travelers to stop in town. Speakers at membership meetings included Stanley Anonsen of Mallincrodt discussing their plans for their new site at Weldon Spring. Board members also lobbied on behalf of residents and businesses to increase public transportation, especially with the expected completion of a new bridge in St. Charles- which you may recognize as the Blanchette Bridge! Of course, through the last 60 years our O’Fallon Chamber has continued Continued on pg 6 to serve our members and

by hiring exception caregivers to create a transformation in their daily living. Finding the right caregivers is one of the most arduous aspect if their business. Many hours are expended in the hiring and orientation process. One important tool has been added over the last few years have been providing ongoing in house training for office and field staff. Web based training modules including test are also available to field staff to take at their convenience. Services are designed for individuals who want to maintain an independent lifestyle, but who need assistance with daily activities, whether from aging, surgery, illness, disability, or a loss of a spouse, partner or caregiver. Right at Home also provides respite to those caring for an aging parent or those who live a distance from an aging parent. Often, seniors are afraid to ask for help or to admit that they are slowing down because they do not wish to leave their homes or move into a facility. Our services include assistance with personal care, light housekeeping, medication reminders, meal preparation, transportation, shopping, errands and companionship. Progress West HealthCare Center announces name change Progress West HealthCare Center, St. Charles County’s only acute care hospital along I-64/40 in O’Fallon, is pleased to announce it has a new name: Progress West Hospital. The patientcentered mission, vision and values will remain the same, as will the highly-qualified physicians, nurses and team members. Progress West’s name change celebrates its mission and brings attention to the essential services it provides to our community. “Over the past year, we’ve been conducting extensive market research in St. Charles County,” says Barbara McLaurine, manager, marketing and communications. “Consumers and patients expressed their confusion regarding the term ‘healthcare center’ and voiced their understanding that ‘hospitals’ are fullservice, treat more serious needs, have

emergency departments, and are where you go for surgery or treatment. With this, we have made the decision to re-name Progress West HealthCare Center to Progress West Hospital. Being clear and straightforward about who we are and what we do is critical. Our community depends on hospitals for life-saving care when accidents occur, and we want to ensure patients in St. Charles County know Progress West is a hospital here to serve them.” “Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West are both part of BJC HealthCare,” says McLaurine. “We continue to work toward making medicine better in St. Charles County. We want to make it clear to consumers that quality BJC care is here in St. Charles County.” For a referral to a boardcertified primary care physician or specialist on staff at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital or Progress West Hospital, call 636.928.
