“KEEP IT IN THE O’” THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

ROUTE 364 PAGE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

e’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we love O’Fallon! Aside from the amazing people, parks and schools; we have tons of great, locally owned stores hidden all over the city. As Chamber members and proud residents of O’Fallon we at the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce encourage you or better yet, challenge you to shop local this holiday season. This year, do your holiday shopping at O’Fallon retailers. Find everything you need to shower your loved ones with presents, and keep your City strong! For that reason, we have created a list of 5 reasons to patronize small businesses for this year’s holiday shopping: Continued on pg 5

Route 94 to Gutermuth Clearing and grading work will continue from Route 94 to Gutermuth Road until early 2014. Crews are hauling dirt during daytime hours from Gutermuth to Motherhead. In early November, we will have a couple of weeks of daytime blasting of rock about half way between Gutermuth and Motherhead. Old Gutermuth Road was permanently closed on October 14. The road is now a dead end on either side of new Route 364. Motorists should use new Gutermuth Road to travel north-south.

SHOPPING

CONTINUED FROM COVER You Don’t Have to Travel Far By shopping local you don’t have to travel far, and contrary to popular belief North O’Fallon and South O’Fallon are not that far apart. All neighborhoods of our City have unique stores hidden in them and they are right down the street from your home or work place.

RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONIES WELCOME TO O’FALLON!

The O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce and the City of O’Fallon are excited to welcome these new businesses to the community and to help them celebrate with a with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony.

Non-profits Receive Greater Support St. Charles County non-profits receive a large percent of their revenue from business contributions. Your support of local businesses helps to ensure that they are able to continue their giving to our local charities and in turn make our community stronger. Your own charitable gifts to local non-profits are a means of spending locally to keep those donations in O’Fallon. Personalized Experience Shopping at small local businesses always offers a personal and sincere customer-owner interaction. Small business shop owners are interested in their clients, know their wants and needs, and are willing to give their customer personal attention to answer questions about their products. A small business owner is linked to the success of his or her business, which means they are experts on the product that they create and sell.

Rizzo’s Pasta 104 Triad West Center | O’Fallon, MO 63366

Improve Your Local Economy and Enrich Your Community Nobody wants to live in a neighborhood that lacks a small business culture. When you shop, dine and play in O’Fallon, your purchases provide sales tax revenue to O’Fallon. These sales taxes pay for O’Fallon’s police department, civic services, parks and much more. Original, Handmade Gifts At small local shops you can find some great unique items that aren’t available at other stores. If you like to give original, handmade gifts, you can’t beat shopping at a locally owned business. If you can’t commit to spending your entire holiday budget locally, commit to just one day! Small Business Saturday is November 30th. If we could all commit to at least one day of purchasing from local small businesses then we could really make a difference in our communities. SIGN UP FOR CHAMBER’S GOT TALENT IN NOVEMBER I’m not exactly sure where October went, but here we are, already November and ready to gear up for the holiday season! Maybe you’re a Clark Griswold and have been patiently waiting for the holiday season to get here so that you can begin you’re good old fashion family Christmas, or perhaps your more like a Grinch who would rather be hiding in a mountain; either way, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and with it, the flurry of gatherings and shopping to find the perfect gift. (Hint: it is not a membership to the jelly of the month club. Contrary to popular belief- it is not the gift that keeps on giving.) I do have several suggestions for the perfect gift or at least a suggestion on where to find it- O’Fallon! Our community is packed with big box, boutique and specialty stores to find great unique gifts. I challenge you to spend Black Friday and all other shopping days after, here in O’Fallon. According to the 3/50 Project (www.the350project.net), for every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. The sales tax generated locally supports our schools, roads, parks and public safety; which together make O’Fallon one of the best places to live in the U.S. (#39 to be exact). Check out the full list of Chamber Members at www. OFallonChamber.org/member-directory or simply call the office staff to find where you can get your next great gift! Until next time, wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving, Adam Hopper 2013 Chairman of the Board
