1 Interior Design 2 • Final Portfolio Jackson Horne About Me Jackson T. Horne is a sophomore at Olathe East High School currently enrolled in Interior Design II with Miss Vohs. At fifteen years old and throughout the 2023 spring semester, Horne has been quite busy at work creating an array of different designs, ranging from brand marketing, to house hunting, to designing a tiny home from the ground up. Each design has a story and a client, each differing from each other with an expansion of design styles. Horne thanks you for taking the time to view his portfolio and can’t wait for what the future holds in the design world. Contact Me! The Client Ugly Chair project is just as it seems. We were challenged to design a living room with only one element to go off of…the client’s ugly chair which must be included in the final design. This was a difficult one to navigate, but it came out just as I had envisioned and I hope my client’s needs were fulfilled in my design.

The Opposing Design Styles project was a difficult, time-consuming project to perfect. I was given the Southwestern and Contemporary design styles, two with very different focal points. From a New Mexico dream home to an uptown California oasis, it was difficult to incorporate a room with a 50/50 combination of designs. My two clients were looking for a living room that met their demands, and the final interior was what I had envisioned for this couple and I hope they can see themselves living here.

The House Hunters project was my favorite project from the course. We were given a family with differences and interests. For example, my family was the Watsons, a beginning dentist named Ken and a homemaker named Barbie with two children and a third on the way. The only requirement for this project was to stay within the Olathe School District and I did just that. I found three qualifying homes that fit the needs and demands for this large, loving family. It was my goal to find the home that stood out to them the most and I hope I was able to find them a home that they can find themselves living in for time to come.

House

The Tiny House project was the final one for the course. We were asked to create a tiny house (less than 500 square feet) for the client of our choice. I chose myself and I designed a minimalist, contemporary tiny home with everything that you would need to live full-time in a small space. My home met the requirements at 474 square feet and I would not change a single thing to the house…except for one thing…the living room was lacking and nearly non-existent. In the future, with the option to move just about that 500 square foot requirement, I would expand the living room area to create a more roomy and spacious living area for myself and any future visitors.
