In a highschool sketchbook, was merged the mythical unicorn with a tiger... thus creating an amalgam that represents two natures: Idealistic Fantasy and Fierce Reality—TIGRIKORN. He treads the line between competing worlds and ideals; a bit of a misfit, his adventures are chronicled here.

W When I was in high school, I first read the
Chronicles of Narnia series of books by C.S. Lewis. One of the books “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” has been made into a movie by the same name and has been a box office hit. As I watched the movie I was very happy to see they followed the book closely. I also liked how they fleshed out the background story of the main characters, two brothers and two sisters as they were evacuated from wartime London to escape the Nazi bombings during World War 2. The fantasy characters were also well done with quality special effects. Aslan, a mystical Lion who returns to his kingdom Narnia, must fight to regain his throne from the powerful tyrant , Witch Jadis who has oppressed the once beautiful land and has locked it into a nonending, desolate Winter. Centaurs, unicorns, giants, harpies—a host of mythological creatures are locked in battle scenes that are done very convincingly. I highly recommend Narnia and plan to buy it when it’s out on DVD--Doug Jennings

One of my favorite artists took cartooning style figures into fine-art museums and venues. He created an entire vocabulary of symbols and characters that he used in huge murals, giant sculptures and on large canvases that have been displayed all over the world. I’m talking about the artist Keith Haring who dedicated his life to inspiring kids to create and enjoy art. The Keith Haring Foundation has sponsored a website, www.haringkids.com, that continues Keith’s work and offers a variety of fun interactive art features where you can see Keith’s images and use them to create your own works of art. It’s definitely worth checking out. —DJ

After subduing a Giant Robot that had threatened Chicago, (and rescuing a child-like, being they found at the control center of that mechanical monster), Earth Teen Cyrus is grounded for leaving home without telling his mom. Fortunately, Cyrus’ Granpa Bijan has offered to give Tigrikorn, by Doug Jennings Taessa, shape-shifter alien Mert and the rescued Robo-rider child a new base of operation.

Luminaus
After his failed rescue attempt, Larry Stone begins to examine his life and super-heroics. After extensive testing, he scraps his defective Humanaus super by Doug Jennings suit and creates a solar-powered new suit design to become Luminaus.

To be continued The Luminaus comic story was a feature that appeared in the Christian outreach newspaper, Issues & Answers. In keeping with that newspaper’s goal of presenting the Bible and its teachings through a variety of subjects, I wrote Luminaus to reflect a Christian world view within a super-hero story. In many of the episodes, Larry expresses his inner spiritual life and faith in Jesus Christ.
