SCHOOLS OUT!!! JUNIOR NATURE CAMP • AGES 4-7 JUNE 27-29, 2016 9 AM - 12 PM Meet at Riverfront Park Our camps have nature-based themes: sand & mud, sticks & stones, and hide and seek. These themes in and of themselves help to guide the atmosphere of the camp. The theme creates the context of experience. We want the children to experience these elements with human culture in mind. The themes are our way of doing this. Monday at the Sand and Mud camp, young children get to explore nature’s softer side and begin to feel comfortable in the outdoors. We get dirty, build sand castles, and feel the water of a river on our toes. This is the first step in being comfortable outdoors: getting dirty. Beyond simply getting dirty, we make a game of it. Tuesday at the sticks and stones camp, children will make digging sticks, discoidal flake stone “knives”, build a stick shelter similar to a wikiup, and other random play with stick and stones. Wednesday at our Hide & Seek camp, children will learn the secrets of natural camouflage, how to move silently through the woods, how to set up booby-traps, wilderness navigation techniques, and more. FEE: $30 OUT OF DISTRICT FEE: $34.50
