As in recent years, staff prepared phased plans to respond to revenue fluctuations. Our year began with a magnificent evening thanks to the unwavering generosity of board member John Klai and his partner Jon Sparer, who welcomed us into their unique and breathtaking residence “j2” to celebrate the success of our Anniversary Fund. The $250,000 we raised stabilized Nevada Public Radio’s cash reserves. (See a photo gallery on pages 48-49.) While we scrutinized anything that could be considered a “green shoot” in the wider economy in 2012, at the close of the year we saw some changes in our revenue structure that were solid trends rather than outliers.
