Fraternity tour: Big Ten Room 104, Norris Sorority tour: Wildcat Room 101, Norris

Norris University Center McCormick Aud: Freshman/sophomore parents Northwestern Rm 202: Junior/senior parents

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will be hosting a tour of select fraternity and sorority facilities. Tours are only for family members as the facilities are closed to prospective members. Those interested in the fraternity tour will meet in the Big Ten Room 104 of Norris while those interested in the sorority tour will meet in the Wildcat Room 101 of Norris by 4 p.m.

4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. CURATOR’S TOUR: “SOUNDS & SILENCE: JOHN CAGE COMPOSING HIMSELF EXHIBIT University Main Library

Northwestern University Library celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of avant garde composer John Cage with an exhibit composed from the collection of scores, scrapbooks, correspondence, and other materials. The tour will begin inside the main entrance of University Library.

4 p.m. - 5 p.m. A WILDCAT BREAK Various locations

For those who choose not to participate in the tours above, use the hour to take a quick breather following an afternoon of travel and sessions. Grab some coffee from Norbucks (Norris Starbucks), visit the bookstore on the ground level, walk next door to see the art in the Block Museum, or the newly renovated front of Deering Library, one of NU’s most picturesque facilities. You can also use this time to write and turn in your “Note from home” card you received at Check-in!

A panel of current students will discuss common issues and successes and how they have navigated their tenure at NU. There will be two different panels. One panel will be geared to discussing the experience of freshman and sophomore students (McCormick Aud) while the other will discuss the experience of juniors and seniors (Northwestern Room 202).

5:45 p.m. - 7 p.m. DINNER ON YOUR OWN Venture into downtown Evanston for a wide variety of dining options. For those with an iPhone or Android-powered phone, download the Downtown Evanston app for suggestions and discounts.

7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. NU REVUE Ryan Auditorium, Technological Institute

This student variety show– including a cappella, dance and comedy student groups– is returning for a second year for 2012 Family Weekend. For those without tickets, all empty seats will be filled beginning 5 minutes prior. We ask those with tickets to arrive early. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

7 p.m. - 9:45 p.m. MOVIE SHOWING: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, SPONSORED BY A&O FILMS McCormick Aud., Norris University Center

A&O– a student organization– will show the latest addition in the Batman saga throughout the weekend. Admission to this movie is free.
