DID YOU KNOW Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math = STEM! • The fastest-growing occupations over the next ten years are in STEM fields.

Winter Greetings, Calling all Kids to College on Saturday Mornings, from February 14th – March 14th, 2015! It is such a privilege to be part of North Shore Community College as we celebrate the College’s 50th Anniversary! The celebration started with the moving September 2014 Inauguration of the College’s new President, Dr. Patricia Gentile. It will continue as we break ground later this year for 10 new classrooms at our Lynn Campus. Our youth programs will continue to focus on fun and educational classes that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math skills and challenges. Look over our Winter/Spring Saturday morning classes, as well as our April Vacation and after school opportunities with your child. Join us for some great classes that help build selfesteem and unite kids with similar interests from all over the North Shore. Here’s to 50 more years of learning at North Shore Community College!

Nancy Tracy, NSCC Youth Programs Coordinator ntracy@northshore.edu 978-236-1200

• S TEM occupations have grown 8% in the last 10 years and are expected to grow twice as fast (17%) in the next ten years. • M any of the highest-paying jobs require STEM preparation and STEM workers earn 26% more than their non-STEM peers.

www.facebook.com/mynscc.kids2college Add Art and it’s STEAM! • Arts and Problem Solving – Artistic creations are born through the solving of problems. How do I turn this clay into a sculpture? How do I portray a particular emotion through dance? How will my character react in this situation? Without even realizing it, kids that participate in the arts are consistently being challenged to solve problems. All this practice problem solving develops children’s skills in reasoning and understanding. This will help develop important problem-solving skills necessary for success in any career.

Classes fill up quickly so sign up early. Plus, classes with insufficient enrollment as of February 6th will be cancelled so your early registration matters! Always call to check: 978-236-1200

NOTE: You will receive a medical history form and media release form in the mail. You MUST complete and return by mail or on the first day of class. We cannot allow any student to attend class unless this paperwork is completed and returned.
