T h e sheriff in Butler County wanted him tried as an adult where he could face years in prison but the case of the suspected school shooter
at Madison Jr/Sr high school will stay in Juvenile Court. 14 year old James Hancock has now been indicted on four counts of Attempted Murder and has been declared a serious juvenile offender. The special
designation under Ohio law means that Hancock could be forced to serve a blended sentence in both a juvenile prison and an adult prison but it is not mandatory. The only way Hancock would go to an adult prison is if
he gets in trouble in juvenile lockup. The Butler County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Austin in connection to the March 29 school shooting, according to Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser. Police
said Austin brought a .380-caliber handgun to school and opened fire in the middle school cafeteria before fleeing to a nearby field, where he was arrested. A pretrial hearing on the case is set for next month.
