At North Central, we are committed to helping you exceed your personal best—in the classroom, in your career and in life. One of the best ways to experience all that college life has to offer is by enjoying the independence of living in our residence halls and immersing yourself in the Cardinal community. Living on campus will surround you with friends, fun and unique experiences learning outside of the classroom. There are endless opportunities to get involved. Below is just a small sampling of activities and events already scheduled for the Fall Semester. We’ve also provided important dates regarding your on-campus housing. There are several times during the year when our residence halls close. Please take special note of closing dates and times, as students are required to leave the residence halls during these periods.

WE CAN’T WAIT TO WELCOME YOU TO CAMPUS THIS FALL! MOVE-IN DAY

Move-In Day is an exciting day on campus and one in which the entire Cardinal community participates! Our Residence Life staff, along with North Central faculty, staff and alumni will be there to help you unload your car and get settled into your room. Move-In Day is the kickoff to Welcome Week—a week packed with activities and important workshops created for new students living on and off campus. From a seamless move-in experience to group activities, your first days at North Central will be inviting and fun. This is your opportunity to get acclimated to college by connecting with new friends and creating new memories.

WELCOME WEEK

Feeling a little nervous about meeting new friends and starting your college career? Our Welcome Week Program is designed to help you get off on the right foot! We’ll cover the essentials of college life to ensure you’re fully equipped with everything you need—ID cards, class schedules, books and maps. You’ll also get familiar with our academic environment and experience a jam-packed schedule of fun and exploration that will take you from downtown Naperville to downtown Chicago. Keep an eye on your North Central email for more information as the summer winds down.

PREPARING

yo u r ro o m

ABOUT YOUR ROOM

As you begin to plan and pack for the perfect room, be sure to consult the detailed information about your room and residence hall available on our website (northcentralcollege.edu/housing). This helpful information includes building features as well as room square-footage, fixtures and college-provided furniture.

CONTACTING YOUR ASSIGNED ROOMMATE

Your assigned roommate’s name(s) and contact information is available on eRezLife. To access this information, use your North Central login credentials at noctrl.erezlife.com. Their email address is hyperlinked to their name, found under your housing assignment. We recommend that you reach out to your roommate(s) and discuss what items you each plan to bring—your residence hall room will seem much more spacious without two microwaves, two mini-fridges and two televisions!

BED LOFT RENTAL SERVICE

North Central College works exclusively with Bedloft.com to rent micro-fridges and lofts to students who wish to loft their beds. Micro-fridges and lofts should be reserved and paid for in advance of your move-in date. Lofts rented through Bedloft.com are the only lofts permitted in the residence halls*. Bed risers are not permitted. For more information about rentals or to purchase a futon, visit Bedloft.com.

WIRELESS NETWORK

All College buildings are equipped with both wired and wireless connections. North Central’s wireless network supports most operating systems including Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, iOS and Windows Phone. Gaming systems such as PlayStations, Xboxes, Nintendo Switches, and Nintendo DSs do not support WPA2 Enterprise that is required to connect to the NCC_Wireless network. In order to connect your gaming system to the network, you will need to use the wired connection in your room. College internet access cannot be used for business or “for profit” activities, as it would jeopardize the College’s not-for-profit status. For more information, visit its.noctrl.edu. *Due to room layout, residents of Seager Hall are only permitted one bed loft per room.

STUDENT MEAL

Pla n Options

As a resident student you will automatically be assigned the 17 Meals Weekly. During the first week of Fall semester, you will have the option to change your meal plan to best suit your eating needs. Meal plans can only be changed during the first week of classes at Kaufman Dining Hall. The first three block meal plans cost the same amount but vary in terms of where you plan to eat most of your meals. The All Access meal plan is a slightly higher cost. More details regarding your meal plan options can be found at new.dineoncampus.com/NCC.

All students living on campus will be required to select from one of the following meal plan options: 1. ALL ACCESS DINING PLAN: Unlimited meal swipes per semester $100 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes 2. 17 MEALS WEEKLY PLAN: 17 meal swipes per week $250 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes 3. 12 MEALS WEEKLY PLAN: 12 meal swipes per week $300 Bonus Bucks 8 guest passes 4. 100 BLOCK PLAN: 100 meal swipes per semester $700 Bonus Bucks 4 guest passes

WHAT ARE “MEALS”? Meals, also called swipes, can be used at the following dining location Kaufman Dining Hall. Your meals are added to your North Central College Cardinal Card (Student ID) at the beginning of each semester. Throughout the semester, when you use a meal, it is subtracted from your meal plan.

WHAT ARE “BONUS BUCKS”? Bonus Bucks are part of your meal plan and work like a pre-paid debit card. When you purchase items using your Bonus Bucks, the register will deduct the amount from the balance on your card. Bonus Bucks roll over from semester to semester, but not from one academic year to the next. Bonus Bucks can be used at the following campus dining locations: Au Bon Pain, Boilerhouse Café, The Cage, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Papa John’s.

WHAT ARE “FLEX DOLLARS”? Flex Dollars also act like a pre-paid debit card; however, Flex Dollars are not a part of the North Central College meal plan. Flex Dollars can be used to purchase a wide variety of items including food, books, North Central apparel, school supplies and items from vending machines located on campus. You can add Flex Dollars for your spending needs by going to the Business Office (on the third floor of Old Main) and purchasing them in increments of $25 (cash or check) or by going to managemyid.com (credit or debit). Students who do not have meal plans can add Flex Dollars in the same manner. Flex Dollars roll over from one academic year to the next.

WHAT ARE “GUEST PASSES”? Guest passes are meal swipes that can be used for a guest, or person who is not the student card holder. To use a guest pass, students must present their Cardinal Card to the cashier to be swiped after their regular meal has been swiped. The meal plan holder must accompany the individual using a guest pass during the meal that the pass is being used. Only one guest pass may be used per meal.

MEAL ACCOMMODATIONS If you are ill or otherwise unable to make it to the dining hall for meals, you are encouraged to use the sack lunch or sick tray services available through Kaufman Dining Hall. These can be arranged through the director of Dining Services and can be made available for pick up. Aside from these services, due to governmental regulations, the removal of food, beverages, glassware, utensils, or china is not permitted from the dining hall without the explicit permission of the director of Dining Services.
