Greetings from YOUR

I know all of you are just as glad as I am to see “old man winter” in our rear view mirror and the colors, sounds and outdoor activities of a great summer, just ahead of us. Just like in past years, your Park District Recreation Department is gearing up for another fun-filled summer with programs you’re accustomed to seeing. At this time, I would like to highlight some of the new programs that you should really take a good look at, they are: • • • • • •

Mom & Tot Gardening Baby Ballerinas Archery Adult Coloring Club Yoga in the Park Campus Visit to Northern Illinois University for Teens

Your Park District offers an array of quality programs for all ages. Get involved and choose one; you’ll be glad you did! Turning our attention to the business side of your Park District, staff with the help of an outside professional vendor, has started on updating our “Park District Comprehensive Master Plan.” This two-year endeavor will provide data and will help guide your Commissioners and Staff in formulating a strategy to prioritize and finance new capital projects, along with refurbishing your older existing parks.

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

New Lenox Community Park District!

Now, before you do anything else, go to your calendar and highlight July 28, 29, 30 and 31. Yes, you’re right, it’s Proud American Days! This year’s festival will again be held on the property next to Walmart. Of all the activities that go on during this four-day festival, there is nothing more meaningful than the Military Tribute that will be held on Sunday, July 31. We would like to invite and encourage all current and past military members along with their families, civic and business organizations as well as the Proud American citizens of New Lenox, to attend this special event, in order to show our support and appreciation to our men and women in our military! Please join us! Remember…Be Active and Stay Healthy! Sincerely, Brian Fischer Park Board President

Kiddie Kampus 2016-2017 Ages 3-4 (as of 9/1/16)

September 8 and 9 - Classes begin the week of September 12, 2016 through May 20, 2017.

3. If you pay your full tuition payment at time of registration, the $50 non-refundable registration fee will be waived.

What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants?

4. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency. Our Kiddie Kampus follows New Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off except for our Winter Break.

Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun.

What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration? 1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3-year-old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2016 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently. ACTV#

Due to priority registration of current 3 year-old Kiddie Kampus participants, there are limited spots available in the 4-year-old Kiddie Kampus program.

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Early Childhood

42

All children must be the correct age by 9/1/16.

Wiggles, Giggles & Fun Ages Birth-5 LCC (Room 1) Entry C A parent or caregiver stays to interact with their child to encourage socialization during free play time and participation in circle time learning. You’ll be right there to celebrate every discovery with smiles, hugs and an occasional adult size giggle. Infants are also allowed in the class to watch the fun, so no need to find a babysitter. Price is for up to two children only. Third child, please add $6. Please dress in comfortable clothing and bring a pair of non-skid socks to wear during class.

Program Requirements • Children must be the correct age by 9/1/16, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure. • Although your child may turn the correct age during a second session of a program, our age requirement date coincides with the school district’s date to assist with the fundamental growth of the child in the age appropriate programs and therefore would not be eligible for registration. • Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships. • All children must be potty-trained, unless they are attending a class where an adult stays with them or otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are not permitted in independent classes unless stated in the class description. • Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously arranged. • For your children’s safety, all children enrolled in preschool-age programs must be picked up from the specific classroom or program site by their parents or designated guardian. No child will be released from the classroom to anyone other than these individuals. • A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants is required for all Park District Programs.

Classes that require a parent and child to attend are shown with this icon.
