It sure seems like we didn’t have much of a summer, especially now that we will be looking “At Old Man Winter.” But not to worry, your Park District has a slew of programs to choose from to get you through the Winter months. I have a lot of information to share with you, but space dictates I focus on a few. Again for the 6th year in a row, your Park District has received the prestigious “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.” This award means that your Board of Commissioners and Park District Staff are good stewards of your tax dollar, while adhering to above and beyond accepted accounting standards. Second, we anticipate moving into our new home. (The former New Lenox Police Station) at years end. Our new Administration Building will provide much needed space for administrative and recreational offices as well as additional programming. This move was made possible through an intergovernmental agreement allowing for a property exchange between our Park District and the Village of New Lenox with no burden to the taxpayers. Lastly, please go through this catalog and choose a program that strikes your interest. We offer programs as young as birth to our most respected seniors. Do yourself a favor by signing up for one of the programs. I guarantee you will be glad you did.

MEET & GREET DAYS for registrants.

What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants? Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun. ACTV#

Program Requirements • Children must be the correct age by 9/1/14, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure.

• All children must be potty-trained, unless they are attending a class where an adult stays with them or otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are not permitted in independent classes unless stated in the class description.

• Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships.

• Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously arranged. • For your children’s safety, all children enrolled in preschoolage programs must be picked up from the specific classroom or program site by their parents or designated guardian. No child will be released from the classroom to anyone other than these individuals. • A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants is required for all Park District Programs.

Thank You... The New Lenox Community Park District would like to sincerely thank and express our appreciation for the wonderful efforts of our foundation, New Lenox Friends of the Parks. Throughout the past year, this dedicated group of individuals have gone above and beyond in their mission to support the New Lenox Community Park District’s mission for the “improvement of the quality of life in our community.” Their efforts have included various fundraisers resulting in our Park District’s ability to purchase new equipment for both our athletic and educational programs. Their generosity to help us allows for program costs to be maintained through materials being replaced with their donations. Finally, their efforts during the election process, in providing necessary referendum information to our residents was tremendously appreciated. This foundation continues to grow and perform at a level we are grateful to have on our side. If you are interested in joining this worthwhile organization, please send an email to newlenoxfriendsofparks@gmail.com.

FITNESS

Kundalini Yoga uses a series of movements and breath exercises that create mental and physical endurance designed to help relieve stress, depression symptoms, insomnia, increase mental clarity, as well as help with weight control while improving strength and flexibility. Kriyas (set of yogic postures) can be fast and repetitive or at other times relatively still. The accompanying breaths often mirror the movements of the body. Chanting is used to help center our minds and to assist with breath exercises. This class is great for people who like variety, need low impact exercises to build strength and are looking to reduce stress. All levels of experience and flexibility are welcome! For your comfort, please come to class on an empty stomach (eat 2 hours before class) and wear loose fitting clothing. Please bring your own yoga mat, blanket and a water bottle to class.
