Finding faith by believing in yourself

Here are the 5 things you can do to rebuild your confidence in yourself

• Ground Yourself • Focus on the positive • Speak positive • Take a Break • Surround yourself with positive people

oon after I moved to Charlotte, NC to begin my career in radio, I began to doubt whether or not I could do the job. I often wondered if this was the right choice to make. I didn’t have a place in the city so I commuted 96 miles one way from Greenville, SC. I travelled back and forth 4 days a week in a car I leased from a friend. I had taken a chance on making this career move and was willing to do what it took to make

it work. It just had to work. Boy was it hard to show up and deal with the unexpected work environment while working for a 20% commission of nothing for weeks on end. I noticed that I began to worry and stress about every little thing. From how I was going to put gas in the car to whether my children remember what I looked like. My thoughts began to wander to the dark side of questioning my abilities,

Understanding intimacy

When you doubt your power, you give power to your doubt.” – Honore de Balzac” the same abilities that had landed me the job in the first place. I didn’t trust myself. I questioned myself and my decision. Let me explain something, losing control and trusting yourself are difficult things to do. Trust and acceptance - which go hand in hand, are the most powerful tools you have, it is the most potent energy available to you. When you have confidence - or, trust, within you, it produces a positive energy that quiets doubt, worry, fear and negative expectations. It has a

profound effect on you and others. But to trust yourself is also the most empowering decision that you can make. Just think what would happen, if you trusted all your choices and accepted all your decisions - you would be successful in just about everything you do. YES! Everything you do. Positive energy is more powerful than negative energy. Trusting yourself is a learned skill. It requires a deep understanding and acceptance of who you are and

what you represent. If I were to ask you, “what do you trust most about yourself?” How would you answer? The rule of thumb is if you don’t trust yourself, you don’t trust others. The reason you don’t trust yourself is because it’s a learned emotion, but the actions of others should not affect you. Trusting yourself is about allowing those around you to experience the real you. It’s about being authentic. Now - you must change it and choose to trust yourself and others. UD

hy are there so many blogs about open relationships? As I searched the realms of cyberspace I quickly encountered over 300 million listings on the subject. What is it about open relationship and being polygamous interest people? An open relationship is when two people want to be together but agree to a form of a polygamous relationship. What is polygamous? It is a marriage or relationship which includes more than two partners. This means that they agree that a romantic or sexual relationship with another person is accepted, permitted, or tolerated. 5 paths to love

Lessons that open your heart to recieve unconditional love -(excepts from 7 Love Blocks)

1.

trust people with an open heart live in the moment believe in yourself trust your judgement seek love with an open mind

24 • Upscale Desires Magazine • www.upscaledesires.com

Trust people

When people tell you that they love you, believe them. Whether it be an intimate relationship, a friendship, or a family relationship, it is important to accept the declaration of love at face value. If you are pushing aside the gift of their love for you because you are afraid that they do not mean it, then you prevent them from having the chance to prove that they do. It also might push them away from you, so that if you change your mind it may be too late. Let love in and don’t block it.

2.

Simply open your heart, live in the moment and cherish the fact that other people care so deeply about you that you are connected needed, wanted, and included in the affairs and lives

of others. Being open and receptive to the love from others can be learned with practice, provided you don’t let cynicism and toughness take over. Let down some of those defenses and pride and let others know that you enjoy their deep care and support for you. And forget about keeping score; love others even if it is not reciprocated. As one large human family, it keeps going around and we receive it back again anyway.

3.

Beware the voices of societal negativity.

4.

Show love.

Social conditioning has a habit of making us feel wary of being effusive about and openly accepting of compliments, generosity, caring, and kind acts, lest we are seen as greedy, prideful, or selfish. Do not push aside the caring, wonderful things people have to say about you just because of such negative overlays; be appreciative and embracing of the love given out by others in all its forms. To do otherwise is to block the receipt of love.

Receiving the love is also about having love within you. Kiss your spouse and children, hug your friends, compliment your colleagues, and say friendly and complimentary items to the grocery store clerks. Do this regularly.

5.

Watch the experts at receiving love.

Children are expert at receiving love because they believe what said ... is. What is also natural is that being able to receive love creates a balance in which you give and receive in equal measure. Take note of how children manage this beautifully - they ask for help when needed, they give help when asked. They offer compliments without a thought, and they accept at face value the compliments that they are given. Re-learning what was once innate for you can restore a lot of happiness and trust in your life. UD

Make Fetch Happen, The Go Getter’s Guide to Greatness is the newest book from Author & Everyone’s Favorite Intimate Relationship Coach Nikeema Lee. Remember the movie Means Girls? The character Gretchen tried really hard throughout the movie to make the word “Fetch” the newest catch phrase. She repeatedly tried to use the word to describe the mood or circumstance. Working the word into conversation, “that’s so fetch.” Until finally they told her to stop trying to make Fetch happen. STOP TRYING TO MAKE FETCH HAPPEN.

Author Nikeema T. Lee M.S. is an Intimate Relationships Coach, Author, & former WGIV 103.3 FM Morning Show Host in Charlotte, NC. Nikeema Lee focuses her energy on coaching people on how to LOVE themselves. She is a beacon of insight on self-love and reconnection. Nikeema aids many to self-discovery of the internal hurdles that prevent many from making intimate connections in relationships, by helping many to get in touch with their true Authentic selves

In the Media

Often in life we are told to stop trying to make things happen. We are told to expect things as they are and stop going against the status quo. Its frowned upon anyone who chooses to try and make things happen for themselves. In the face of backlash and ridicule the Go Getter never backs down from life. They tend to take life head on and look for moments to win at all cost. Becoming a successful Go Getter, I believe, takes a few key principles that will lead to Greatness. Each one of us tries to make something out of nothing. We often look to be the first to create a new “catch phrase” or in the case of our lives, a new path. We seek to find a new way to explain why our lives mean something. We strive to provide the world with a purpose. We wish to “Make Fetch Happen.” I’ve often wondered, “Why Gretchen couldn’t make Fetch happen?” Why we can’t make Fetch happen in our own lives? Make FETCH Happen, The Go Getter’s Guide to Greatness answers that question for me. I hope that it will do the same for you. IG (Instagram) account earlier this year and simply for a lack of a better term fell in love. Well not really in love but I have developed a place for him and we have never meet. Chris, according to his IG post, shows himself as this strong but gentle man that can have any woman he wants. Its his relaxed yet direct approach that I believe woman find attractive. Post after post @_chrisclassic reminds ladies to be queens mixed with a little freak and men to be kings in the struggle to find their voice. From notable friends and family, he shares he love for his son Juju, food, women and clouds.

The hashtag #classiccloud, shows his artistic eye. Don’t believe me, check it out yourself. This month we celebrate @mrchrisclassic (twitter). I am inspired by this man who loves his son, a great meal, a soft pair of thighs and himself all in the same breath. He is a man who doesn’t mind standing up for what he believes in. But also is wise enough to be silent when he doesn’t know the answer. He has perfect imperfections. We celebrate his CLASSIC. UD
