Suro Records Name Marcelo Demarco Where are you originally from? I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, although I have been travelling around the world for several years.

Relationship with Ibiza. I fell in love with this place the first time I visited back in 1995, and I have not missed a summer since.

What’s your job? DJ, Producer and Manager of two labels: Sexy Beats & Suro Records.

Tell us about Suro Records, the international label you created. Suro is a new project I started a few years ago on the island dedicated to Deep Tech House. We can say that Suro is international and we have a roster of artists from South America, Ireland, Spain, USA. This year is particularly good for me and Suro, as we’re launching the first vinyl RUNAWAY EP

with two of my original tracks: Runaway & Our Deepest Fear, along with a beautiful and very deep remix of Alex Arnout and a remix of The World & Satori that is a tech bomb.

Starting this year, you also organize events in Ibiza.

How has the white island welcomed you? It’s been very welcoming as always, and this year we are in La Plage, which is a wonderful place, working with good people and most importantly we are having a great time.

Future objectives and business plans... This year, our plans are to include new markets, organize events in London, Miami and New York where we want to spread the Suro sound and most of all make people dance and continue to grow in every sense of the word.

Nombre Marcelo Demarco ¿De dónde eres? Nací en Montevideo, Uruguay, aunque llevo varios años viajando alrededor del mundo.

Relación con Ibiza. Desde la primera vez que visité la isla en el 95, me enamoré de este lugar y no he faltado ni un verano. ¿A qué te dedicas? Soy DJ, productor y manager de dos sellos: Sexi Beats & Suro Records.

Háblanos de Suro Records, el sello internacional que creaste. Suro es un nuevo proyecto que comencé hace unos años en la isla dedicado al Deep Tech House. Podemos decir que Suro es internacional, ya que tenemos en el roster artistas sudamericanos, irlandeses, españoles y americanos. Este año es particularmente muy bueno para mí y para Suro, ya que lanzamos el primer vinilo RUNAWAY EP con dos tracks originales míos: Runaway & Our deepest fear, junto con un hermoso remix de Alex Arnout bien deep y otro remix de El Mundo & Satori que es una bomba tech.

A partir de este año también organizáis eventos en Ibiza. ¿Cómo os ha acogido la isla blanca? Muy bien, como siempre, este año estamos en un lugar maravilloso como es La Plage trabajando con gente muy buena y, lo más importante, lo estamos pasando genial.

Futuros objetivos y planes de negocio... Para este nuevo año los planes son incluir nuevos mercados, organizar eventos en Londres, Miami y Nueva York donde difundir el sonido de Suro, y más que nada hacer bailar a la gente y seguir creciendo en todos sentidos.

As in the case every year, the arrival of August represents the most stressful month for the island residents, while for tourists it means a relaxing holiday.

This dichotomy reinforces our idea of magazine... a “guide” to events and places to go to day and night, because there are two sides to every story.

It’s time to enjoy your holiday, forget the outside world and everything you’ve left behind when you go to the beaches, bars and clubs on the island.

Or you can stay glued to the screens to see the champions compete in all the disciplines at the Olympic Games in London, just as you did last month to follow the European Football Championship (congratulations to the Roja!).

At N&D we want to celebrate the day and the night. To celebrate the day we have dedicated the cover of Formentera to a true champion, a symbol of Italian and international rugby who needs no further introduction: Martin Castrogiovanni (thanks to Davidone who has made this possible). We celebrate the night with our 5-year collaboration with the La Leche! Festival by the Matinée Group, the leading Spanish promoter, with 5 covers coming from the lens of the photographer Tiago Prisco. Also this month, N&D has several interviews and articles.

I leave you with a sentence that I copied from a friend’s Facebook profile (Magda, I hope you’ll forgive me!): “Believe in the possibility that everything is possible and can be done. Dream, visualize, believe, chase and conquer it...”

Como cada año, la llegada del mes de agosto representa

para los habitantes de la isla el mes más estresante, mientras que para los turistas es el mes de unas vacaciones relajantes.

Esta dicotomía refuerza nuestra idea de revista... una “guía” de eventos y locales a los que ir de día y de noche. Porque todo se puede ver desde dos puntos de vista diferentes.

Es hora de disfrutar de vuestras vacaciones olvidando el mundo exterior y todo lo que habéis dejado atrás para visitar las playas, los bares y las discotecas de la isla.

O podéis quedaros pegados a las pantallas para ver competir a los campeones de todas las disciplinas en los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres, como habéis hecho el mes pasado para seguir el Campeonato Europeo de fútbol (¡felicidades a la Roja!).

Nosotros, los de N&D, queremos celebrar el día y la noche. Para celebrar el día hemos dedicado la portada de Formentera a un verdadero campeón, un símbolo del rugby italiano e internacional, que no necesita presentación: Martin Castrogiovanni (gracias de corazón a Davidone que lo ha hecho posible). De la noche queremos celebrar los cinco años de colaboración con la fiesta La Leche! del grupo Matinée, el más importante promotor español de eventos, con las cinco portadas que han salido del objetivo del fotógrafo Tiago Prisco. También este mes N&D presenta numerosas entrevistas y artículos.

MANOLO SORIA We interview Manolo Soria, founder and CEO of Matinée Group. If there is anyone who still hasn’t about it yet, suffice to say that Matinée is much more than just partying. As well as the legendary Saturday night session at Amnesia, the group promotes the organization of festivals and parties around the world and other initiatives in different fields such as fashion, with its own line of clothing, and the recording industry, through its own label and artistic management agency.

Manolo Soria oversees it all.

Relationship with Ibiza: Ibiza has been my second home for two decades. I fell in love with the atmosphere, the energy, the people... there are so many things it’s impossible to name just one. I think it’s one of the most magical places in the world.

Matinée has become a benchmark for huge musical events. Did you think it would go so far? You never think about how far something will go. We have always aimed to generate leading events with the highest quality possible. Our only concern has always been our audience, with so much work we don’t have time to think about where we’ll end up.

What is the secret of Matinée’s success? Hard work, total dedication, a little bit of luck of course, always being surrounded by a great team to support all our plans and above all always thinking about the future. I believe that focusing on the future, and 22 • IBIZA • MUSIC

not the present, has been key to our success. Last but not least, we can’t forget the loyalty of the Matinée crowd, which from the first moment has understood that Matinée was more than a brand, a way of understanding leisure, fun and also life.

On a personal level, what does Matinée group mean to you?

Matinée Group is a lifetime project. I spend more hours working with Matinée than at home.

5 years ago Matinée group started working with N&D Magazine. What do you think about the relationship established between you and our magazine? N&D has become a key part of life on the island. It is a pleasure to work with you every year.

How do you imagine Matinée in 10 years’ time? What would you like to have achieved? Our aims are to continue growing, innovating, diversifying our services and surprising our crowds.

In this difficult time, the national press has mentioned Matinée as a company that is expanding and seeks staff for new projects. Do you think nightlife is becoming increasingly important from a financial perspective? In difficult times we find that the nightlife sector works alongside other sectors to achieve a common goal.

Everyone can do their little bit. The world of the night has been one of the engines of our economy for many years.

News for the season and the rest

of 2012. It’s been a very exciting season. The artistic team in place for Matinée nights at Amnesia is coming up with some amazing plans that can only get better.

The 2012 season will long live in the memory.

Por si aún hay alguien que no lo conozca, baste decir que Matinée es mucho más que fiesta. Además de la legendaria sesión de los sábados noche en Amnesia, el grupo impulsa la organización de festivales y fiestas en todo el mundo y otras iniciativas en ámbitos distintos como la moda, con una línea propia de ropa, y la industria discográfica, a través de un sello propio y agencia de management artístico. Manolo Soria es el artífice de todo ello.

Relación con Ibiza: Ibiza es mi segunda casa desde hace dos décadas. Me atraparon la atmósfera, la energía, la gente… son tantas cosas que es imposible quedarme con una sola. Creo que es uno de los lugares más mágicos del mundo.

Matinée se ha convertido en un referente de grandes eventos musicales. ¿Pensabas que llegaría tan lejos? Uno nunca piensa en cómo de lejos va a llegar. Siempre hemos intentado generar eventos punteros de la mejor calidad posible. Nuestra única preocupación siempre ha sido nuestro público, con tanto trabajo no suele quedar tiempo para

preguntarse por dónde vas a acabar llegando. ¿Cuál es el secreto del éxito de Matinée? Mucho esfuerzo, dedicación total, algo de suerte por supuesto, un gran equipo siempre a mi alrededor apoyando todas nuestras iniciativas y sobre todo el pensar siempre en el futuro. Creo que definitivamente tener una visión más enfocada al futuro que al presente ha sido una de las claves. Por último pero no menos importante, no podemos olvidar la fidelidad del público Matinée, que desde el primer momento ha entendido que Matinée era, más que una marca, una forma de entender el ocio, la diversión y, por qué no, la vida.

A nivel personal, ¿qué significa para ti el grupo Matinée? Matinée Group es el proyecto de toda una vida. Paso más horas trabajando con Matinée que en mi casa.

Hace 5 años el grupo Matinée colabora con N&D Magazine, ¿qué opinas de la relación que se ha instaurado entre vosotros y nuestra revista? N&D se ha convertido en una pieza clave de la vida en la isla, es un placer poder colaborar con vosotros año tras año. ¿Cómo te imaginas Matinée en 10 años? ¿Qué os gustaría alcanzar?

Nuestros propósitos son seguir creciendo, innovando, diversificando nuestra oferta y sorprendiendo a nuestro público.

En este momento difícil, la prensa nacional ha hablado de Matinée como empresa que se expande y busca personal para nuevos proyectos. ¿Crees que a nivel económico el mundo de la noche empieza a tomar relevancia? En momentos difíciles comprobamos que el sector del ocio nocturno trabaja, con los demás, por un

objetivo que nos es común a todos. Todos pueden aportar su grano de arena, el mundo de la noche lleva muchos años siendo uno de los motores de nuestra economía.

Novedades para la temporada y el resto del 2012. Está siendo una

temporada muy emocionante; el equipo artístico que se ha configurado para las noches de Matinée en Amnesia está teniendo unas iniciativas increíbles que sólo pueden ir a más.

Esta temporada 2012 no se olvidará fácilmente.

October 18, 1999. Sometimes in people’s life there are moments or specific dates that represent a before and after.

For me this date was the beginning of a “Spanish” experience, which coincided with my arrival in Barcelona, for which I received an Erasmus scholarship.

I should have stayed 10 months, but I ended up staying 10 years...

After Barcelona I discovered Ibiza as a weekend destination, and then it became a week, a month, a season... Ibiza has been my home for several years now.

In recent years one of the few regular parts of my life has been Matinée. At first I identified with the titles of the compilations which were Barcelona-IbizaBarcelona. I vividly remember the first parties I went to: the Soleil after-party, Madame (first at Luna Mora

and then at Salvation), “Illusion”, Souvenir, the disappointing Maison, Mito on calle Tarragona, and every Saturday morning running to Prat airport to catch the first available flight to Ibiza for the Matinée party at Space.

I have a drawer full of shirts of every colour that remind me of the different years: black, yellow, orange, red and many more.

I am proud to collaborate with the leading Spanish events promoter, among which I remember the Circuit Festival, Winter Festival and Saturday night at Amnesia.

I can only thank Matinée for the trust they had in N&D 5 years ago, when the magazine was not like the one I have in my hands now, and the professional and human relationship that has been created and that turns work into friendship.

18 de octubre de 1999. A veces en la vida de las personas hay momentos o fechas concretas que marcan un antes y un después.

Para mí esta fecha significa el comienzo de una experiencia “española”, que coincide con mi llegada a Barcelona, ciudad para la que me dieron una beca Erasmus.

Tenía que haberme quedado 10 meses y, finalmente, me quedé 10 años...

Después de Barcelona descubrí Ibiza, destino para un fin de semana, que se convirtió en una semana, unos meses, una temporada... Desde hace años Ibiza es mi casa.

En los últimos años, una de las pocas constantes en mi vida ha sido Matinée. Al principio me identificaba con los títulos de los recopilatorios que ponían Barcelona-Ibiza-Barcelona. Me acuerdo perfectamente de las

primeras fiestas a las que fui: el after Soleil, la Madame (primero en la Luna Mora y después en Salvation), “Illusion”, el Souvenir, la decepcionante Maison, el Mito de la calle Tarragona, y de todos los sábados por la mañana corriendo hacia el Prat para coger el primer vuelo disponible para ir a Ibiza a la fiesta Matinée en Space.

Tengo un cajón lleno de camisetas de todos los colores que me recuerdan cada uno de estos años: negro, amarillo, naranja, rojo y un largo etcétera.

Para mí es un orgullo poder colaborar con este promotor español de eventos tan importante, organizador de, entre otros, el Circuit Festival, el Winter Festival y el sábado noche en Amnesia.

La prueba del éxito del grupo Matinée es el hecho de que esté buscando personal para nuevos proyectos a pesar de la recesión que está viviendo el país.

El fantástico trabajo de todo el equipo Matinée ha quedado plasmado por el talento del fotógrafo Tiago Prisco, quien nos ha regalado unas imágenes de portada increíbles.

Solo puedo darle las gracias a Matinée por la confianza que ha tenido en N&D desde hace 5 años, cuando la revista no era lo que ahora tengo en mis manos, y por la relación profesional y humana que hemos ido construyendo y que convierte el trabajo en amistad.

Name Mathias Kaden Where are you originally from? I’m from a small town in Germany called Gera.

You started spinning at the age of 14.

How come you started DJing? Around this time we had one of the first record shops in East Germany called ‘Undergroundwear’. I got involved in the group and started buying records.

How would you define your musical genre? My music is very open. I love drums and percussion, especially rhythmic music, for that special drive on the dance floor.

You are working on several projects, have several residencies at famous clubs, produce music and support young DJs. Which part of your job do you enjoy the most? The part I enjoy the most about my job is getting together with people around the world.

I am very lucky to be able to do this as part of my job.

What is it like working with Cocoon in Ibiza? How is your relationship with the other Cocoon heroes? The relationship works super well for me. My first gig for Cocoon was in Ibiza in 2009. I love working with the Cocoon Gringos and have a great bunch of friends there - it is a good family to be part of.

Besides playing at Amnesia Ibiza, what do you like about the island? Of course the food and restaurants and the special hippy spirit that you feel in places on the island.

Tell us about your future plans. My future plan is… to stay healthy and happy ;-))))

Nombre Mathias Kaden ¿De dónde eres? Soy de un pequeño pueblo de Alemania llamado Gera.

Empezaste a pinchar con 14 años. ¿Cómo fue que empezaste? En este tiempo había una de las primeras tiendas de discos en Alemania del Este que se llamaba “Undergroundwear”. Me involucré en el grupo y empecé a comprar discos. ¿Cómo definirías tu estilo musical? Mi música es muy abierta. Me encanta la batería y las percusiones, en especial la música rítmica, para crear acción en la pista de baile.

Estás trabajando en varios proyectos, tienes varias residencias en clubes famosos, produces música y apoyas a jóvenes DJ. ¿Qué parte de tu trabajo te gusta más? La parte que más me gusta de mi trabajo es estar en contacto con personas de todo el mundo. Me siento muy afortunado de que sea parte de mi trabajo. ¿Qué tal es trabajar con Cocoon en Ibiza? ¿Cómo es tu relación con los otros héroes de Cocoon? La relación va súperbien. Mi primer concierto para Cocoon fue en Ibiza en 2009. Me encanta trabajar con los gringos Cocoon y tengo un gran grupo de amigos allí, formo parte de una buena familia.

Además de pinchar en Amnesia Ibiza, ¿qué es lo que te gusta de la isla? Por supuesto, la comida y los restaurantes y ese peculiar espíritu hippie que se siente en los lugares de la isla.

Cuéntanos acerca de tus planes para el futuro. Mi plan para el futuro es... mantenerme sano y feliz ;-))))

It’s never easy to accept that someone goes away forever…Samuel was a friend with whom I shared many years of great memories, of hilarious moments, jokes, family meetings all the time and lot of business success. We also had big differences, conflicts and disappointments... Yes, we weren’t just two friends that shake hands, but real friends with real feelings...

What I can say about Samuel is that he was a fighter in business 34 • IBIZA • MUSIC

and had a culture of good music.

He loved to party and his energy was extremely contagious all the time... He was one of us, with his qualities and imperfections. But the best thing about him was his dedication to his children, especially as a father that loved his children so much… This was for sure his best side, which perhaps many people couldn’t see. In this sad moment, I wish peace and love to his family. This is the best thing that we can do for them. I will always be there for them.

Nunca es fácil aceptar que alguien se va para siempre...

Samuel era un amigo con quien he compartido muchos años de grandes recuerdos, de momentos hilarantes, bromas, muchas reuniones familiares y mucho éxito en los negocios. También tuvimos grandes diferencias, conflictos y decepciones... Sí, no solo eramos dos amigos que se apretian las manos, sino amigos de verdad con sentimientos de verdad...

Lo que puedo decir acerca de Samuel es que era un luchador en los negocios y un cultor de la buena música. Le encantaba ir de fiesta y su energía era extremadamente contagiosa, siempre… Ha sido uno de nosotros, con sus cualidades e imperfecciones. Pero lo mejor de él era su dedicación a sus hijos, era un padre que amaba muchísimo a sus hijos... Éste era su lado mejor, que quizás mucha gente no veía.

En estos momentos de tristeza , deseo a su familia amor y paz.

Esto es todo lo que podemos hacer por ellos, y yo estaré ahí para apoyarlos.

Descansa en paz, amigo, no te olvidaremos...

Saludo de la alcaldesa Como cada año, las Fiestas de Sant Bartomeu llaman de nuevo a nuestra puerta. El 24 de agosto se acerca y, con este, una serie de días marcados por la celebración y la alegría. Unos días que espero que sean del agrado de todos los portmanyins y las portmanyinas, así como de los residentes, turistas y visitantes que estos días viven con nosotros y disfrutan de los eventos festivos.

Este año queremos dedicar el programa de fiestas a los fondos marinos. Es sabido que en Ibiza tenemos la suerte de convivir con dos paraísos: el de la mar y el de la tierra. Sin embargo, todavía nos queda mucho por conocer del mar, de su belleza, su paisaje acuático y su riqueza natural.

En este sentido, el Ayuntamiento colabora periódicamente con limpiezas de los fondos marinos y estamos trabajando en un plan de ordenación de los fondeos en nuestra bahía, que repercutirá muy positivamente en su calidad medioambiental. Colaboramos también en proyectos educativos del Centre de Recuperació de Espècies Marines, y queremos potenciar como eje vertebrador de todas estas actuaciones el Centre d’Interpretación del Mar, ubicado en el Faro de ses Coves Blanques, donde este año se celebra por tercer año la Universidad Internacional del Mar. El verano es el mejor momento para conocer el mar. Es tiempo de playa, de refrescarse en el agua. Y, por qué no, de iniciarse en el submarinismo y acercarse al gran espectáculo acuático. Os animo a conocer y respetar mejor esta parte tan importante de nuestro patrimonio natural, que entre todos debemos saber conservar para las generaciones futuras.

Greetings from the Mayor It’s that time of the year! The Festival of Saint Bartholomew is back. The 24th of August is drawing closer and with this, a number of days will be marked by celebration and happiness.

Several days which, I hope, will bring happiness to all portmanyins and portmanyinas as well as residents, tourists and visitors who will live and enjoy the festivities with us.

This year we the festival program is dedicated to the seabed. It is well known that here in Ibiza we are lucky to live in harmony with two paradises: land and sea. However, we still have much to learn about the sea, its beauty, its aquatic landscape and its natural water.

For this reason, the City regularly works on projects to clean the seabed and is helping to put together a plan to manage anchorage in our bay, which will have positive repercussions on the environmental quality. We also collaborate on educational projects with the Centre de Recuperació de Espècies Marines and want to promote the Centre d’Interpretación del Mar as the linchpin of all these actions, which is located in the Lighthouse Coves Blanques, where the third year of the International Sea University will be celebrated this year.

Summer is the best time to visit the sea. It is the time to go the beach and to refresh ourselves in the water. So why not take up diving and get to know the stunning world under the sea? I encourage you to get to know and respect this important part of our natural heritage. We all have to start to learn to preserve it for future generations.

Where are you originally from?

Cáceres, Ávila and Córdoba, respectively, and we’ve been living in Madrid for over 10 years.

What’s your job? We are an advertising agency. We’ve been together for almost ten years managing advertising for several national magazines.”Publicidad a Primera Vista” is a young company eager to evolve and do new things, as will be the case with the launch of N&D Madrid.

How did you learn about N&D Magazine? At the airport on a trip to Ibiza.

N&D Madrid will be the first magazine from our franchise.

Where does the idea come from?

After seeing the magazine in Ibiza, we thought it could be a good reference point for telling people about the wide range of leisure on offer in the Spanish capital. After few calls and email proposals, we met with Christian Dori in Madrid to study all the finer points of N&D. We really liked what we saw, and thought there was great potential for a good project together.

What do you think about the cultural magazines circulating in Madrid? In what way will N&D Madrid be different? They are very complete, but there is no specific magazine focusing on nightlife, and the ones about day entertainment are more guides than magazines. So N&D Madrid will stand out.

What do you want to transmit to the future readers of N&D Madrid?

That the young, those living here and tourists, can enjoy the spirit of the city through N&D Madrid.

LET ME “FREAK OUT” A WHILE IN PRIVATE BEFORE GOING ON STAGE WITH ROBERT DE NIRO No doubt my greatest satisfaction till now as an actor has been playing a role in one of Robert De Niro’s films; although in just one scene; although it was only replying when one of the actors on set introduces my character, “Dr Campbell” to De Niro’s “Mr Silver”; even if I only felt his stage presence and energy on set and, especially, because I could answer addressing him.

In the movie “Red Lights” I had the opportunity to be part of several scenes with my character, one of them with Sigourney Weaver, Tobby Jones and Cillian Murphy. Acting alongside them, I had feelings of professional responsibility and wanting to do a good job. But when I got my

scene with De Niro that was very different: I was in my trailer and an assistant told me that in an hour we would shoot the scene, and I said something I will never forget: “Please let me freak out a little in private before going on stage with Robert De Niro”. She took me to the set and looking between some boxes I saw him for the first time, filming the scene before mine, I was able to watch him in private and therefore I managed to perform my scene with him in a professional manner.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rodrigo Cortés, the director of the movie, for the opportunity he gave me.

Sin duda, mi mayor satisfacción como actor hasta el día de hoy ha sido entrar a formar parte de la filmografía de Robert De Niro, aunque solo haya sido en una escena, aunque solo haya sido en una réplica en la que uno de los actores en escena presenta a mi personaje, el “Dr. Campbell”, al suyo, “Mr.Silver”, aunque solo haya sido porque sentí por un instante su energía en escena dirigiéndose a mí y, sobre todo, porque pude responderle dirigiéndome yo a él. En la película Red lights tuve la oportunidad de estar con mi personaje en varias escenas, coincidiendo en una de ellas con Sigourney Weaver, Tobby Jones y Cillian Murphy. Con ellos tuve sensaciones de responsabilidad profesional y de querer hacerlo bien.

Pero cuando llegó mi escena con De Niro eso fue muy diferente: estaba en mi caravana y una asistente me anunció que en una hora rodaba la escena. Le dije algo que jamás olvidaré: “por favor, déjame flipar un rato en mi intimidad antes de salir a escena con Robert De Niro”.

Ella me llevó al set de rodaje y, entre cajas, lo vi por primera vez: estaba rodando la escena que precedía a la mía, pude observarle en mi intimidad y así abordar mi escena junto a él con profesionalidad.

NICOLE MOUDABER Name Nicole Moudaber Where are you originally from? Born in Nigeria, of Lebanese and British descendants.

Connection with Ibiza. I have a house in Ibiza that first brought me to the island.

When did you start playing? Only 3 years ago really, but this year is my year because I’m playing around 3/4 shows a week.

You’ve worked really hard at the studio recently, tell us about your upcoming releases. I’m always in the studio; I have loads of new releases coming out. The next ones are 2 EPs on Drumcode, Adam Beyer’s label, a collaboration I did with Victor Calderone from New York and a solo EP as well.

How did you meet Carl Cox? What’s it like playing with him at Space Ibiza? He invited me to play for the first time at a London show for the launch of his DVD. Since then he’s been inviting me to play every year at Space in Ibiza and at several shows around the world. We’ve become very close friends since then.

Playing with him is the most amazing experience one can have. This club has the best atmosphere on the island and the most incredible DJs from all around the world. I love playing with him. He takes care of everyone and makes sure we all have a memorable time.

The first record you bought. Fela Kuti - Beats Of No Nation.

Plans for this summer 2012. Studio, performances and no sleep… I’m taking 10 days off in August before getting out there again. So see you in Ibiza!

Has trabajado mucho en estudio últimamente, háblanos de tus próximas publicaciones. Siempre estoy en el estudio, sacaré un montón de nuevas releases, los más inminentes son 2 EP para Drumcode, la etiqueta de Adam Beyer. una colaboración que hice con Victor Calderone de Nueva York y también un EP en solitario. ¿Cómo conociste a Carl Cox? ¿Cómo es pinchar con él en Space Ibiza?

La primera vez me invitó a pinchar en un espectáculo en Londres para el lanzamiento de un dvd suyo.

Desde entonces me invita cada año en Space Ibiza y en varios conciertos en todo el mundo y nos hicimos muy amigos. Pinchar con él es la experiencia más increíble que podía tener, este club tiene el mejor ambiente en la isla y los mejores DJ de todo el mundo.

Me encanta tocar con él, cuida a todo el mundo y con él siempre pasas unos momentos memorables.

SUMMER: PLANTING AND STIMULATING LIFE During the summer months all things in life flourish.

The earth bears its fruits. It is, therefore, a time when we must seize the hours of sunlight and charge our energies for the winter.

In summer we should avoid anger and let things flow spontaneously. We must act with positive energy, express ourselves externally as lovers of the world.

Tao says the summer is a season to grow and stimulate life. If we do not live in this way we will get sick in autumn.

Summer diet months should be light, fresh and digestible to acclimatize to the heat of the season.

In summer we have lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes, ingredients of the Spanish gazpacho.

With the heat, watermelon and cantaloupe are at their best. They are fruits with moisturizing properties. There are delicious figs and miraculous grapes. Nature is wise and summer fruits and vegetables are very rich in water and antioxidants that help us to fight aging and diseases like cancer.

Raw vegetables accompanied by hummus (mashed chickpeas with tahini and lemon juice), mixed lettuce salad, arugula and herbs like basil, mint and oregano are the best condiments of the at this time of the year. We also advise eating lighter cereals such as corn, biological white pasta or tofu. And finally, always with a delicious infusion of passion flower and lemon balm for our hearts or sage for circulation, of course with a few drops of lemon and honey. Enjoy this season of light and feed on the sun’s energy at its maximum brightness.

En verano tenemos lechuga, pepino y tomate, ingredientes de nuestro gazpacho. Con el calor la sandía y melón están en su mejor momento. Son

frutas con propiedades hidratantes. Llegan los deliciosos higos y la milagrosa uva. La naturaleza es sabia y durante el verano nos proporciona frutas y hortalizas muy ricas en agua y antioxidantes que nos ayudan a luchar contra el envejecimiento y enfermedades como el cáncer.

Verduras crudas acompañadas de hummus (puré de garbanzos con tahini y zumo de limón), ensaladas de lechugas variadas, rúcula y hierbas aromáticas como la albahaca, la menta y el orégano son los mejores condimentos del momento. Los cereales también se aconsejan más ligeros como el maíz, la pasta blanca biológica o el tofu. Y para terminar, siempre con una deliciosa infusión de pasiflora y melisa para nuestro corazón o salvia para la circulación obvio con unas gotitas de limón, y miel.

Among other places to visit, there are important remains of ancient civilizations that have led to a number of archaeological findings on the island dating back to Phoenician and Carthaginian, retrieved from the famous necropolis of Puig des Molins.

However, the main attraction for tourists are the nightclubs, which create a colourful blend of trends, styles, appearances and eccentricities which have made the island extremely famous around the world.

Clubs are extravagant and known for their truly breathtaking structures. Visit and enjoy them. If you have the misfortune of Eva França, who went for dinner at a famous hotel on the island and when walking through the room she slipped on some food that had fallen on the floor - she fell and badly injured herself -, remember one very important thing: even if you cannot expect the caterer to pay for permanent supervision of the room or the club, it’s worth nothing that in relation to things without their own dynamism, Spanish law recognizes duty in terms of custody and control when the accident or a human action can act as the sole cause or as an additional factor in the objective process that produces the damaging event.

Why did you choose Ibiza to start your own business? I have lived here for nearly 20 years and don’t really know the bigger wider world outside!

Tell us about your new restaurant Mumak.

For me and my partner Miguel, who owns Kumharas, the idea was a new modern project. We have tried to retain the essence of Kumharas and the wonderful taste of the many Asiatic dishes we both like and enjoyed. For us, it’s the most stylish venue, which is totally different to everything else that’s available in Playa d’en Bossa. I call it unique, in that it’s a haven of calm surrounded by the noise and action of the party!

What do you offer your clients? Great food, relaxed atmosphere, amazing alternative music. A Mumak family from all over the world, being themselves and being different. We offer celebrating difference!

Plans for this season. To be able to develop our project and create something different!

Everything started with the dream of an amazing Boat Party. The idea was to combine good music, the energy of the people, the beauty of the sea and a taste of IBIZA’s freedom.

The events and promotion agency CAPADI thought of all the life changing experiences and opportunities Ibiza has given and continues to give all the people who choose Ibiza as their personal music and lifestyle mecca.

A brand called “THANK GOD WE ARE REBELS” was born. After two successful summers with appearances by DJs from big labels such as Cocoon, Cadenza, Desolat and Moon Harbour, the young company decided to redefine itself.

During their REBELUTION Winter Tour 11/12 across Germany, they presented their new concept: IPYA Independent Platform for Young Artists.

The idea incorporates talented artists from the worlds of music, fashion, and photography. It gives these young people the opportunity to perform in front of bigger and more important audiences.

The heart and soul of the brand is provided by residents appearing at every REBELS event since the beginning. Germany based immigrants Deniz Bilgic from Karlsruhe and JIGGY from Stuttgart leave their homes during the summer to spread the REBELS sound around the island. After last summer’s gigs in Space, Privilege and Monza @ Sankeys, they will be performing at some eye-catching nights over summer including every Tuesday and Friday on REBELS Boat Battle and Wednesdays at Delano Beach Club at REBELS Beach Revolt starting at midnight and continuing until sunrise!

Todo empezó con el sueño de una Boat Party increíble. La idea era combinar buena música, la energía de la gente, la belleza del mar y el sabor de la libertad de Ibiza. La agencia de promoción y de eventos CAPADI pensó en todos los cambios de vida y oportunidades que Ibiza le había dado y seguía dando a todas las personas que eligen Ibiza como su Mecca en cuanto a música y estilo de vida.

Name Stefano Mazzetti Where are you originally from? Monterotondo, a hill near Rome, but I have lived in London for the past 15 years.

How did you come to Ibiza and why did you decide to stay? The first time was in 1995. I came on holiday until 2003 until I opened my first bar. Last June I moved to Ibiza which for me represents the perfect balance between social emancipation and contact with nature.

What’s your job? I have always worked in the management of bars and clubs: first Cosmobar in London, then ‘The city arts & music project’ (the CAMP), a place for young people with art and avantgarde music in East London. Here I am doing something completely different: I am a partner in Ecotoner 2001, a company supplying cartridges and toners for printers, and this year I have created Ibiza Drinks Delivery, a 24-hour delivery service for alcohol and other products.

What are the differences between working in London and Ibiza? The difference is between London and Spain in general. Here life and social relationships are more authentic and this makes life more enjoyable.

Your favourite place on the island. Very difficult, I love it all. Perhaps my favourite place is the view of the Can Marçà cove near Benirràs.

Plans for the 2012 season. It’s my first season as a business man. I hope Ibiza Drinks Delivery will become a useful innovation for the island.

Everything I’ve done in life has been focused on innovation and human utility.

La primera vez fue en 1995. Estuve viniendo de vacaciones hasta el 2003, cuando abrí mi primer local. El pasado junio me mudé a Ibiza, que para mí representa el equilibrio perfecto entre emancipación social y contacto con la naturaleza. ¿A qué te dedicas? Siempre me he dedicado a la gestión de bares y locales: primero el Cosmobar de Londres, luego The city arts & music project (the CAMP), un lugar para jóvenes con arte y música de vanguardia en el East London. Aquí me dedico a algo totalmente distinto: soy socio de Ecotoner 2001, empresa que suministra cartuchos y tóners para impresoras y este año he creado Ibiza Drinks Delivery, un servicio de entrega de alcohol y otros productos en 24 horas. ¿Qué diferencias has encontrado entre la forma de trabajar en Londres y en Ibiza? La diferencia está entre Londres y España en general. Aquí la vida y las relaciones sociales son más auténticas y esto hace que la vida sea más placentera.

Tu lugar favorito en la isla. Muy difícil, la amo toda.

Quizás mi lugar favorito sea la vista sobre la cueva Can Marçà cerca de Benirràs.

Planes para la temporada 2012. Es mi primera temporada como business man. Espero que Ibiza Drinks Delivery sea una útil innovación para la isla.

Rebecca and Tony Plastik Beach Club Names Rebecca Marney and Tony Oneto.

Where are you originally from? Rebecca is from London and Tony was born in Cadiz, but at the age of 3 he came to live in Ibiza.

What’s your job? A: In London I used to work for the DMC Record Label and when I was on holiday on the island I met Tony and started promoting parties. The Plastik Bar in San Antonio came next, and now the newly opened Plastik Beach Club in Playa d’en Bossa.

T: I started DJing at a young age, playing at Play 2 Nightlife and then at clubs like Space and Amnesia.

Where did the idea of opening a beach club in Playa d’en Bossa come from? After gaining ten years of experience in San Antonio, we had the opportunity to demonstrate a different side to Plastik, reflecting the high level of quality bars and clubs to be found in Playa d’en Bossa. We did it working alongside our partners Colin Butts, Andrew Matthews and Ashley Dexter.

The decor of Plastik Beach Club has a strong Asian influence, with lots of Buddhas everywhere. Is there any reason or special meaning behind this? Because we have travelled a lot to Thailand and Bali and we wanted to somehow express the magic of these places in our beach club.

Why does Plastik stand out from other Beach Clubs?

We have created a place for people of all ages where everyone can feel at home, working alongside toplevel professionals. During the day we offer typical island dishes with a modern atmosphere, in the evening barbecues with cocktails and groove music, while at night we become a beautiful club with different parties and top-level DJs. At the weekend we offer something more familiar, live music, children’s entertainment, and different shows.

Por el día ofrecemos platos típicos de la isla con un ambiente moderno, por las tardes barbacoa con cócteles y música Groove y por las noches nos convertimos en un hermoso club con diferentes fiestas y DJ de alto nivel. Por los fines de semanas ofrecemos algo más familiar, música en vivo, animaciones para niños y diferentes shows.

Conejito Blanco is no person; without dreams there is no magic!

Where does he like to hide? I wish I knew! We are not so close... I do not ask such things! Everyone deserves a little privacy. What it is certain is that there are things a rabbit can do that a young lady can’t! (Irony and laughter) Playboy Bunny (Conejito)? In my case the Conejito plays, but without a boy (laughs).

Name Conejito Blanco intergalactic guru.

Where are you from? From a burrow in outer space.

Why have you chosen to live in Ibiza? It’s one of the few places that if you start jumping from one party to another, you can rent your out your house again because you aren’t going to need it for a long time!

(Laughs) We’ve already jumped... pirimpimpam!

What do you do? I live. It takes up most of my time really. It’s something serious, so I can’t rest for long!

Where does the idea of the character Conejito Blanco come from? It was born by chance, just like a rabbit is born! His tail first flirted at the old Ushuaia in 2010.

Even today it is one of my favourite spaces: it’s like a delicious appetizer.

Why Conejito, if you are female? It has nothing to do with gender. There’s the person and then there’s the character.

What do you want to express through it? Conejito has his own life, his life’s algorithm. I’ve heard people say in their philosophical moments that without love there

Nombre Conejito Blanco gurú intergaláctico. ¿De dónde eres? De madriguera espacial. ¿Por qué has elegido vivir en Ibiza? Es uno de los pocos lugares en los que si empiezas a saltar por las fiestas, puedes realquilar tu casa, porque no la vas a necesitar durante un largo tiempo! (risas) nosotros ya saltamos… ¡pirimpimpam! ¿A qué te dedicas? A vivir. Verdaderamente ocupa la mayoría de mi tiempo. ¡Es cosa seria, así que no me permito largos descansos! ¿De dónde surge la idea del personaje de Conejito Blanco? Nació por casualidad, ¡tal como debe nacer un conejo! Su colita coqueteó por primera vez en el antiguo Ushuaia en 2010. Hasta el día de hoy es uno de mis espacios preferidos: es como un delicioso aperitivo. ¿Por qué conejito, si eres de sexo femenino? No tiene nada que ver. Hay persona y hay personaje. ¿Qué quieres expresar a través de él? Conejito tiene su vida propia, su algoritmo de vida. Escuché decirlo a la gente en sus momentos filosóficos: ¡sin amor no hay persona! ¡Sin sueño no hay magia! ¿Dónde le gusta esconderse? ¡Me gustaría saberlo!

No somos tan íntimos… Además yo no soy de preguntar este tipo de cosas! Cada uno merece tener un poco de intimidad. Lo que está claro es que lo que está permitido hacer siendo conejo, ¡una señorita no lo debe repetir! (ironía y muchas risas) ¿Conejito playboy? En mi caso Conejito play sin boy (risas).

The DJ AWARDS returns on Tuesday, 25th of September at Pacha, Ibiza. Celebrating a landmark of 15 years, this annual ceremony has remained faithful to those that it honours; the DJ´s.

The hotly awaited 2012 line-up of Nominees & Categories are now confirmed. Helping us along were some of the electronic dance music finest, including Managers, Record Labels, Venue Promoters and key music writers with the DJ´s themselves!

The DJ Awards announces 10 music genre categories, which the public get to nominate their favourites to win the prestigious Kryptonite awards. Voting has now opened at www.djawards.com. There are also 10 Special Industry Awards which are presented during the ceremony and these are decided by a selected panel. **Voters will be automatically entered into a draw for the chance to win invitations to attend the ceremony** Each year there are new subgenres of music being created, by the DJ´s themselves, and nominees are morphing from one category into another, this year is no exception. New to the 2012 list

of Categories is the Electronic Live Performance, whilst Urban now goes into the more defined category of Dubstep/Bass.

Created back in 1998, this non profit making organistation continues to gain support from the EDM scene, with past winners gracing the stage at Pacha, including David Guetta, Carl Cox, Tiesto, Luciano, Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong, SHM, 2Manydjs, Sven Vath, Loco Dice and Madness amongs many others.

The DJ Awards has become an end of season ritual in Ibiza, the awards unite DJs from all over the world who come to celebrate the music they love, with their contemporaries. And this year the DJ Awards takes over Pacha, with their own dedicated after party, featuring some very special guests, and unforgettable live performances, all to be announced soon.

Name Francesco Facchinetti Where are you originally from?

Mariano Comense.

How did you get into radio? By chance, when I was 14. I went to school wearing an earring and as a punishment they made me work in the school radio station in the afternoons. It was my first job, and I haven’t looked back since!

Describe yourself with 3 adjectives.

Stubborn, clumsy (in the nice sense), troublemaker.

What are the differences between radio and TV, worlds you move with ease in? The TV is an invasive means of communication, in the sense that it forces you to be part of it since it fills the room and the place where you are. However, the radio is less invasive because you can choose not to listen to it, to lower the volume and keep doing your things in the morning, afternoon or evening. However, unlike TV, the radio remains, probably due to the music it broadcasts.

Do you remember your first time in Ibiza? What impressed you the most? First of all I want to say Ibiza is my island, my “retreat”. It has everything. It offers tranquillity, sea and even chaos. I’ve always been a fan of Ibiza. I’ve been both to the north and to the south. I’ve had “chaotic” and quieter holidays, according to my different needs.

Anyone who thinks Ibiza is an island that only offers nightclubs and music is wrong, because it has secret, beautiful places and a wonderful sea where there isn’t even mobile phone coverage.

Your plans for the 2012 summer. I have already spent several days in Ibiza with my wife and my daughter - but in June -, so they could both experience the sea and the island I love so much before the August crowds arrive.

¿Cuáles son las diferencias entre la radio y la televisión, mundos en los que te mueves con facilidad?

La televisión es un medio de comunicación invasivo, en cierto sentido te obliga a ser partícipe porque INVADE la habitación y el lugar donde te encuentras. La radio, sin embargo, es menos invasiva, ya que puedes optar por no escucharla, bajar el volumen y seguir haciendo tus cosas por la mañana, tarde o noche. Sin embargo, a diferencia de la televisión, la radio sigue ahí, probablemente también gracias a la música que retransmite. ¿Recuerdas tu primera vez en Ibiza? ¿Qué te impresionó más? Lo primero que quiero decir es que Ibiza es mi isla, mi lugar de retiro.

Tiene de todo, ofrece tranquilidad, mar y también follón. Siempre he sido admirador de Ibiza, he visitado el norte y el sur, he hecho vacaciones “folloneras” y otras más tranquilas, según mis necesidades de cada momento.

Los que piensan que Ibiza es una isla que solo ofrece discotecas y música se equivocan, ya que esconde lugares maravillosos con un mar maravilloso donde ni siquiera hay cobertura telefónica.

Tus planes para este verano 2012.

Ya he pasado varios días en Ibiza con mi mujer y mi hija en junio, para que las dos pudieran disfrutar con tranquilidad del mar y de la isla que tanto me gusta, y no con la multitud de agosto.

Name Tiago Prisco Where are you originally from? Goiania, Brazil.

Relationship with Ibiza. Ibiza is a wonderful world apart. It has a special power, but I still have a lot to discover on the island. I have visited Ibiza in summer and winter, and can’t say which one I like more.

What do you do? I’m a photographer.

What do you like most about your job? I like photographing people, seeing the reaction of each person in front of the camera. It’s fun.

Tell us about your work with the Matinée group, how did it start and how has it progressed over the years? I first made contact with Manolo Soria 6 years ago, after one of my jobs come to their attention. From there, we started working together.

We have worked on campaigns such as La Leche since the beginning, GayDay, Space Barcelona, Salvation, Souvenir, Circuit and many more. Not to mention the brand calendars... which gave me a great platform to showcase a little of my photography.

On a personal level, what does Matinée Group mean to you? Matinée Group is part of many people’s lives and is obviously part of mine too...

It’s synonymous with a good party, and who isn’t a fan?!

How do you see the Matinée group in 10 years’ time? I haven’t thought about it, but I think what they do is entertaining. And I’ve lived through several generations of young people. It’s precisely their brand that makes them stronger. That makes the difference.

Plans for the season and the rest of 2012. For the moment, enjoying a couple of well-deserved weeks off, and then we’ll see.

Relación con Ibiza. Ibiza es un maravilloso mundo aparte, tiene una energía especial, pero aún me queda mucho por descubrir de la isla. He conocido Ibiza tanto en verano como en invierno, y no te sabría decir cuál me gusta más. ¿A qué te dedicas? Soy fotógrafo. ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de tu trabajo? Me gusta fotografiar personas, ver la reacción de cada una delante de la cámara. Es divertido.

Cuéntanos algo sobre tu colaboración con el grupo Matinée, ¿cómo nació y cómo se ha desarrollado en estos años? Tuve un primer contacto con Manolo Soria hace seis años, después de que uno de mis trabajos llegara a su conocimiento. A partir de ahí empezamos a trabajar juntos. Hemos desarrollado campañas como las de La Leche desde sus inicios, GayDay, Space Barcelona, Salvation, Souvenir, Circuit y muchas otras. Sin dejar de mencionar los calendarios de la marca… de los cuales he tenido un gran espacio para poder mostrar un poco mi fotografía.

A nivel personal, ¿qué supuso para ti el grupo Matinée? Matinée Group está presente en la vida de muchas personas y obviamente de la mía también… es sinónimo de una gran fiesta, y ¡¿a quién no le gusta?! ¿Cómo te imaginas el grupo Matinée en diez años?

No he llegado a pensarlo, pero creo que lo que hacen no llegará a aburrir. He convivido con muchas generaciones de jóvenes. Y lo que lo hace más fuerte es, nada menos, su propia marca. Lo que hace la diferencia.

Planes para la temporada y el resto del 2012. De momento, disfrutar de un par de semanas de unas más que merecidas vacaciones y luego ya se verá.
