Impressionistic Clay Flower Pots

ARTIST: Darlene Patterson LOCATION: Artists on the Square, 853 Conner Street, Noblesville, IN DATE & TIME: Tuesday, June 19, 6-9 PM Create beautiful clay flower pots through hand-building and “texturizing.” Crocheted lace, large stamps and other items are provided for pressing designs into the clay; however, you are encouraged to bring sentimental items of your own for personal impressions in the clay. Your creation will be glazed, fired in the kiln, and available for pick-up within two weeks after class. $50 (all materials included)

Inkle Weaving

ARTIST: Sue Payne LOCATION: Jane Leslie Textile Studio, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park

Get your hands on some yarn! Inkle weaving is a simple and traditional weaving technique for belts done on a small loom. Learn how to warp and weave a loom for making both traditional and modern woven bands. Each student will weave and take home one belt. Memoir as Poetry

ARTIST: Jo Barbara Taylor LOCATION: Nickel Plate Arts Campus, 107 South 8th Street, Noblesville, IN DATE & TIME: Saturday, July 14, 1-3:30 PM In this hands-on, write-as-we-go poetry workshop led by Jo Barbara Taylor, visiting poet from North Carolina Poet Society, we will share ideas for accessing our memoir experience. An open mic session will follow the 2 ½ hour workshop. $17 (includes copy of Taylor’s Cameo Roles and light, local refreshments)

The Magic of Polymer Clay Mil e fiori

ARTIST: Pandora LOCATION: Nickel Plate Arts Campus, 107 South 8th Street, Noblesville, IN DATE & TIME: Wednesday, July 25, 6 - 8 PM Italian for “Thousand Flowers� millefiori describes the long tube of polymer clay that you will use to create a beautiful picture frame. You will love the kaleidoscope of colors as you work with this material.

Watch this painting come to life with bright colors, beautiful texture and inspiring words. $55 (all materials included)

Spin ing Wool

ARTIST: Sue Payne or Sandi Butler LOCATION: Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN DATE & TIME: Friday, August 17, 1-4 PM Make beautiful hand-spun wool yarn on a spinning wheel. Learn about different wools and the process, from sheep to finished products. Discover the history and function of various types of spinning wheels.

Ample time will be devoted to teach and develop spinning skills.

Steam-Punk Necklace Pendant

ARTIST: Deanna Leonard LOCATION: Nickel Plate Arts Campus, 107 South 8th Street, Noblesville, IN DATE & TIME: Thursday, August 23, 6-8 PM Steampunk art places great importance on the value of beauty and reflects unusual or antiquated ideals. In this class you will design a Steampunk necklace pendant using pieces of old watches, gears and buttons.

ARTIST: Jill Metz LOCATION: Gallery 116, 8597 East 116th Street, Fishers, IN DATE & TIME: Saturday, September 22, 10 AM-4 PM Participants will create a unique finish and surface that cannot be duplicated with any other medium.

After creating this deep, plaster finish on an 11x14� surface we will paint a still life of a bowl on a table to make a simply beautiful piece of artwork. $55 (all materials included)

Hearth Cooking

ARTIST: Sarah Withrow LOCATION: Outdoor Cooking Classroom, Conner Prairie Interactive History Park

13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN DATE & TIME: Saturday, September 22, 9:30 AM-2 PM Chicken on a string? Potatoes in a spider? And bread in the dutch oven? Find out what all this means as we cook on the coals! The class will work in preparing their own meal using simple ingredients and methods. Of course there will be sampling along the way and a fresh-cooked lunch to be enjoyed by all! Techniques learned in this class are easily applied to camp cooking or could make for a unique outdoor entertaining event!
