WSAA Indoor Blueface Mail-in Washington archers recently completed the WSAA Indoor Blueface Mail-in Tournament. This event is usually a good recruiting tool, and a boost to our treasury, and this year is no exception. Total participation exceeded 160 shooters, representing all age groups from Cub to Master Senior, and all equipment styles. Numerous shooters achieved perfect rounds of 300 points. Exceptionally, Adult Male Freestyle archers Ray Bunney, Ryan Magelsen, and Bill Young, plus Adult Male Bowhunter Freestyle shooter Chad Berry, turned in a perfect series of 1800 points for the six rounds. Several others were just a point or two off that mark. In the mail-in format, archers shoot at their home club or a nearby shop range, and mail their scores to the Tournament Vice President for tabulation In addition to individual competition, Clubs or Shops can form a team of three to six archers to represent them. The three high highest scores for each week are totaled to determine the team score. Teams compete as Freestyle Limited (any finger shooting styles), Freestyle (any sight and release) or Bowhunter Freestyle (fixed pins and release). Notably, the second place FSL team was the New Horizon School team shooting Olympic Style recurves. Now we turn our attention to outdoor rounds, with the State Target Championship in late April, the Safari in May, Field in June, 3-D in July, and FITA in August. Lots of fun on the range, and opportunities for every archer to challenge themselves to a new experience!
