New TVs, especially 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) displays, grant the viewer a breathtaking visual experience. But do you constantly find yourself struggling to hear the audio? It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to get rich, full-range audio from TV speakers within a thin cabinet. Many customers visit us looking for a simple and cost-effective solution, so we thought we would share a couple of our recommendations with you.

Acoustically transparent film screens are made from a specially formulated perforated material that allows speakers to be placed behind the screen. Because of the special nature of the screen, the sound is propagated unhindered directly into the room, creating a true cinema-style experience! NO BLACK BARS!
Planning a home cinema, your first thought should switch to the screen. For that true cinema experience nothing can compare to the CinemaScope ultra-widescreen experience. CinemaScope was developed in the 50’s and whilst its name is somewhat lost today the aspect ratio lives on and thrives. In fact, Panavision, who are a major camera and lens manufacturer, made its start in the industry producing the anamorphic lens that originally made the first versions of widescreen possible.

So what are these black bars I get when watching a Blu-ray?

The regular flat screen TV today has an aspect ratio of 16:9 whilst the majority of films are produced in a ratio of 2.40:1. When you play these films back on your regular flat screen you’ll note the image sits in the middle of the screen with black bars top and bottom. At Entertaining Environments, we take the film industry standard and using Anamorphic technology we stretch that image to fit perfectly to your 2.40:1 ultra-widescreen. The black bars are gone. Conversely the same screen can also cater for your regular widescreen viewing – think sport, pay and regular TV. The difference is whilst the height remains the same, the width is reduced. It’s an important consideration that based on your use of your cinema will determine the screen ratio, the projector and optics we use. It’s all part of our service.
LIGHTING AND AUTOMATION
No home theatre is complete without some simple automation and lighting to set the scene. Imagine this – you have just bought a Blu-ray copy of ‘Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens’ (great film by the way)! You walk into your theatre feeling giddy with anticipation, you place the Blu-ray into the player and then press ONE button. The lights dim, featured LED strips illuminate, creating a stunning visual effect. The projector starts, the AV Receiver is switched to the correct input, and then the movie begins! And, all you did was press ONE button…
