Lecturers within The Study Abroad Program All TNS lecturers are associated with Dutch institutions of higher education and private businesses in the areas of communication and marketing. Arthur Pereboom Profile: Business education in cooperation with the University of Amsterdam / Fachochschule Dortmund/Haga Helia University Finland in successful export activities (expert in the fields of commercial/legal/financial/business ethics) and for SME companies with partners such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Recent projects collaborating with students and fashion companies such as Miss Green and Piogg generated a successful footprint in new markets. In Autumn 2014, a focused program will start to generate export possibilities and business in cooperation with students and universities in Lyon, Dusseldorf and Milan. Support is concentrated on market investigation; legal issues; risk management and the value and risk assessment of new potential customers. Management consultancy in various areas such as business development; succession planning and talent management; mergers and restructuring organizations Special projects and experience with: - different talent management programs for trainees and managers - business development programs for new and existing markets - workshops on various subjects in close co-operation with Bouwend Nederland - development of new relationships with corporate customers such as Royal KPN Lecturer Bart Haensel Education: Bachelor of Arts in Dutch Language and Literature (Teaching Certificate). Bart Haensel has a broad background as an educator & designer. As a teacher he worked at various art and design schools in the Netherlands and abroad. He was head of the undergraduate research program of the Industrial Design Department of Technical University Eindhoven. As a designer he developed concepts for consumer electronics at Ahold International & worked as a freelance art director in Tokyo. He also held the position of Design Director of Clockwork, one of the Netherland's largest online communication agencies. At the moment he works at the internationally highly ranked Design Academy in Eindhoven, where he teaches & researches subjects in the digital realm. At The New School in Amsterdam he helps students develop concepts & ideas for business and communication. Apart from his work in education & design, Bart works as a creative consultant in the cultural field. As an assistant of visual artist, Barbara Visser, he contributed to her projects as a researcher and concept developer at the Dutch pavilion of the Biennale di Venezia and at the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam. He also works as a researcher and script developer for projects in film and television. Some of those include: the movie Herbarium (2013) in cooperation with Barbara Visser in research, script & production as shown at the New York Science Film Festival - see: http://vimeo.com/72194174; the exposition of Symbiopsychotaxiplasm Take Zero (2013), co-directed with Barbara Visser; Filmprojects for Lemming - still in development and starting in December he is co-producing a film that will be shown at the Film Festival in Berlin. The same production team that worked on Hollandse Hoogte, which won the national award for best tv-series (“Gouden Kalf”), is involved. Bart was recently commissioned a project by the National Science Foundation to undertake a series of interviews with prominent scientists and artists about the theme “Wunderkammer”: wonder as a basis for scientific progress and artistic development.


Dorieke Mulder Ms. Mulder holds an MBA from Nyenrode Business University. After more than 25 years in commercial positions in the ICT segment (OnChannel, Hewlett Packard) she became an entrepreneur and acts as a business development and financial consultant for entrepreneurs and small businesses. She has developed, and runs, an innovative retail format of a “pop-up” store, www.berenstraat24.nl where young entrepreneurs find a platform to try out the sales of their products in the highly crowed shopping district of the Nine Streets in the city center of Amsterdam. As a volunteer she trains women to become financially independent. She was co-author of 2 related books. www.vrouwengeldzaken.nl Ms. Mulder is lecturer at TNS, teaching Corporate Communication and Project Management. She is also Program Manager for the internationalization of The New School Program and the program manager of the TNS Study Abroad Program. She is committed to ensuring that students who enroll in this program are afforded every opportunity to pursue their academic interests during their study abroad at TNS. From course selection to grade conversion, Ms. Mulder is there to help students navigate the landscape and academic ethos of Dutch higher education. Study Abroad Program Administration USActive (www.USActive.org) is a Netherlands based consultancy for international education and program development. Your liaison for the Study Abroad in Amsterdam program is Marina Meijer LLM MPA, partner at USActive since 2013. Born in Amsterdam to parents with international origins, Marina grew up in an international environment and has made a career out of encouraging international connections. After studying law in the Netherlands she traveled to the US where she earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration and completed graduate courses in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas in Austin, a leading public university. Moreover, Marina received several prestigious scholarships from the university as well as from the Dutch and US governments. Before her internship, Marina worked in South Korea for several months. She became active on behalf of several US education programs and lobbied on Capitol Hill for an American interest organization for the internationalization of American education. She also worked as a study advisor for the US government at EducationUSA in Tunisia and managed their study scholarship programs for talented students in North Africa. USActive Managing Partner Saskia Torn Broers holds 2 bachelor degrees: Physical Education and Educational Design and a MSc in Pedagogy (talent development). She is an accredited business coach. Saskia worked in the Netherlands with well-known institutes such as KPN, OHRA, University of Education and Movement as a lecturer and tutor. Saskia has an extensive network of education institutes in the Netherlands. She developed and arranged an international education trip to Norway for the Dutch speed skating organization.
