Golden Pines Restaurant offers German-style entrées This week’s featured establishment is Golden Pines Restaurant and Lounge in St. Germain. Built in 1931, Golden Pines is a full, original log structure with ceiling heights of 32 feet. It was known for years as Molgaard’s Indian Lodge. Owner Sharon has made the restaurant into a yearround business. The restaurant and lounge area aim to take customers back in time with an authentic old North Woods atmosphere. The lounge area contains two fireplaces that provide an escape from the cold winter weather. The main dining room provides central air conditioning for the comfort of summer clientele. The menu has a variety of options that aim to satisfy a wide range of appetites, such as appetizers, steaks and chops, seafood, German

and ethnic specialities, light entrées for smaller appetites, sandwiches and vegetarian options. “The unique factor of Golden Pines is not just the building, but also in the preparation of the food it serves,” said Sharon. “All of the soups, sauces and salad dressings are homemade daily with fresh ingredients, as are the entrées themselves.” The lounge offers a variety of cocktails, including nonalcoholic cocktails, beer, and domestic and international wines. “Because it’s Golden Pines, all cocktails such as our old-fashioneds are homemade from scratch in the traditional way,” said Sharon.
