Sophie Bartlett
Artist in Focus: Sophie Bartlett Balcony Gallery Sophie Bartlett’s work encompasses landscape, still life and figurative subjects, and she describes it as ‘loosely impressionistic’. Though much of her inspiration comes from the countryside, she is also fascinated by urban and industrial landscapes as diverse as cathedrals, construction sites and dockyards. Sophie introduces colour combinations remembered from elsewhere into a current painting. Sophie works with oils, as well as watercolour, charcoal, ink and wax.

friends, African art, something glimpsed through his telescope or even a day’s fishing, and above all the human form. He experiments constantly to develop his work and always tries to resist being influenced, even subconsciously, by the work of others. In his technique, Wallhead replaces paper with glass and pencil with copper wire. His palette is simple and metal inclusions of copper, aluminium, steel, sterling silver and 24-carat gold all perform
