At age six Keller met Anne Sullivan, the tutor who taught Keller the alphabet and thereby opened up the world to her. Keller became an excellent student and eventually attended Radcliffe College. While at Radcliffe she wrote an autobiography, The Story of My Life (1902), which made her famous. In later life Keller became an activist and lecturer, sometimes in support of the blind and deaf, and sometimes for causes including Socialism and women’s rights. THE WRIGHT BROTHERS SUITABLE FOR KEY STAGES 1 & 2 AREAS OF LEARNING LANGUAGE & LITERACY/PDMU/WAU THEMES ADVENTURE/TRAVEL/COURAGE/ DETERMINATION/ INVENTION & INNOVATION

Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the first airplane in human history. They were engineers and tinkerers who founded the Wright Cycle Company in 1892. Man had always dreamed of flying but we were unsure how we would do it until that faithful period in 1904 when the brothers took flight in their hand crafted dingy airplane controlled by the wind and simple man power. It took many tries and numerous crashes before they finally perfected flight. It was their simple tests and experiences that allowed us to develop ways to travel through the sky with very little strife. DURATION: 30mins
