A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT Happy 2024 New England PGA Members, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed spending much needed time with your families. I want to let each of you know how grateful I am to be your President and how excited I am for this coming golf season. The Johnson’s were so eager to get the season going that the girls and I jumped in the car the day after Christmas, drove non-stop, and arrived in Port St. Lucie, FL in the afternoon of December 27th. The girls were ready to go to the course, I, however, needed an extra day to untangle my body. I haven't made that trip since I was in my 20's! If you haven't had an opportunity to visit and play the PGA Golf Club, please make it a point to do so in the future. It would top my list for PGA Member perks; the facility is truly outstanding. The NEPGA ended the 2023 season with two very productive events, the Mentoring Summit held at The Country Club, Brookline and the 2024 Planning Session held at Atkinson Resort & CC in Atkinson, N.H. The first-ever NEPGA mentoring summit truly exceeded expectations. Sitting in the front row, the event was captivating and had my attention from start to finish. We were fortunate to have PGA of America Vice President, Don Rae, PGA and PGA of America Career Services Sr. Director, Scott Kimiec headline the event. Also joining the day was PGA Career Consultant, Dave Wilson, PGA, District Director, Larry Kelley, PGA, The Country Club Head Golf Professional, Brendan Walsh, PGA, The Country Club Head Teaching Professional, Kevin Rhoads, PGA, Holy Cross Golf Coach, Steve Napoli, PGA, and Director of PGA REACH New England, Michael Packard, PGA. The knowledge and experience of these individuals is extremely valuable. I would like to remind our PGA of America Professionals to utilize the network of mentors we have here in New England. Whether you are a new Associate, Assistant, or Quarter Century PGA member, we can all use the experiences of others to learn and grow in our profession every season. The officers, board, chapter leaders, committee chairs and NEPGA staff took advantage of a two day Planning Session at the Atkinson Resort just before the Holiday. We created a detailed focus and plan of action with our own North Star initiatives. I witnessed a great deal of positive energy and I am looking forward to the future of the Section. My sincere appreciation to all who attended and dedicated two full days of hard work. I challenge each of you to become more involved this season. Whether you participate in Section tournaments, dedicate time to the Foundation, or simply take one of the annoying surveys we send out, every little bit of interaction with the Section makes you a better Professional than you were yesterday. Trust me, I never thought my involvement would bring me to be your President one day. I look forward to serving each of you, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Sincerely,

A LETTER FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Happy New Year everyone! It is hard to believe that 2024 is here. As the calendar hit 1/1/24 I began my 14th season as the Executive Director of the New England Section, but for those keeping track, it’s my 4,748th day!
During a meeting last fall at the PGA Headquarters, I made an observation when the PGA of America was introducing the role changes they were implementing with their staff. One of their senior staff members was talking about his new role and how many people now report to him, and how excited he was to oversee so many people. Every organization has an organizational chart, and I get there is a chain of command, but I’ve always been humbled by the number of people I am fortunate to work for, not how many people work for me. Though you may be a leader at your facility and the leader of your operation, I think a good practice to start the year as a leader is to be a little humble in how you view your role. This approach will make us all better leaders. Leading into 2024 I am very excited for this upcoming season. President Johnson assumed his new role about two months ago and he already has tasked Section Committees to get to work. The Education programs coming down the pipeline are frankly awesome! A laser focused approach on helping to improve our PGA of America Professionals through education has been the committee’s direction. Please be sure to join us for one of the weekly empower hours, or one of the many in person programs we have scheduled.
The Tournament Committee has done a full audit on Section and Chapter events and took a deep dive into entry fees, formats, participation, purses, and partnerships. Even though we are still in need of a few host facilities, I am excited about what our tournament program has in store for our members.
A major focus for 2024 will be Member Services. One of the many exciting points derived from our recent strategic planning session is the focus on promoting our Section Professionals. Look for increased visibility in not only tournaments, but employment, community outreach, awards, and look for a new social focus where networking and gathering opportunities for PGA Professional will increase.
I am very excited about some new role changes for our NEPGA Staff. (Click Here). We have so many talented team members who have grown tremendously along with the Section/Foundation and the new alignments will highlight individual strengths, as well as free up others to take on new roles. I have never been prouder of the team we have assembled. They truly care about the New England PGA and serving its members.
I know I will cross paths with many of you at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, so for those of you I will see, I look forward to seeing you in Florida, and for those who I will unfortunately miss, I hope to see you at an education event or Spring Meeting.

The New England PGA Section hosted the 2023 Annual Meeting on Friday, November 17th at Kirkbrae Country Club in Lincoln, Rhode Island. New officers were elected to Section Leadership positions during the meeting. Chip Johnson, PGA (Hatherly CC) was named the NEPGA President, Joanne Flynn, PGA (Windham CC) was announced as the Section Vice President, while Brendan Walsh, PGA (The Country Club) was named the NEPGA Section Secretary. Past President, Mike Bradshaw, PGA (Kirkbrae CC) moved into the Honorary President position.
The NEPGA also hosted an election for a new Senior District Director. Jim Remy, PGA won the vote and will now serve the Section Seniors.
The day featured reports from Section Officers, which touched on 2023 Section Finances, Tournament and Section successes, as well as the amazing efforts of PGA REACH New England, the New England PGA Foundation. The NEPGA is looking forward to an eventful 2024 season and will offer educational opportunities for the membership throughout the “off-season”.

The New England PGA Section hosted the 2023 Awards Dinner & Celebration on Saturday, October 21st at Pleasant Valley Country Club. The night recognized 12 Section Award winners and four Hall of Fame Inductees. The NEPGA Hole in One Pool is open to all Class-A NEPGA Members in good standing. This pool only applies to hole-in-ones made during tournaments for which all Class-A NEPGA Members are eligible. If multiple hole-in-ones are made during the season, the pot will be split between all professionals who made a hole-in-one, and will be paid out after all eligible events have been played. If nobody makes a hole-in-one in a season, the pot will carry over into the following season. No eligible hole-inones were made during the 2023 season, so the prize starts at $7,850 heading into the 2023 season.

PGA Of America Logos During the 107th PGA of America Annual Meeting, the updated Member, Section, and Foundation logos were revealed as approved by the Board of Directors. The new simplified logos were created to translate into a digital/social/mobile world and highlight who we are as “PGA of America” Golf Professionals. The use of gold in the logo designs is exclusively reserved for PGA of America Members and Member events like the PPC, PGA of America Annual Meeting, and PGA Show. PGA of America Members are not required to dispose of existing merchandise, golf bags, business cards, etc. with the previous logos. PGA of America Members should use the new logo digitally and on any new inventory and merchandise going forward, however, can continue to purchase inventory with the previous logos until the PGA Show in January 2024. Inventory with the new Member logo will be available to purchase at the PGA Show. 26
Use of a logo should correspond with the highest level of PGA Lifelong Learning that you have completed. Personal use of all PGA logos is intended to benefit individual PGA of America Members. Therefore, use of these logos is the responsibility of each PGA of America Member. It is important to understand that personal use means not for retail and or not for resale of any kind. The logos may not be used by anyone else. For example, if your employer wishes to use the PGA of America Member or PGA of America Master Professional logo in an advertisement, your name must be included in the advertisement as outlined in the guidelines below, and the use of the logo and your name must be authorized by you.
