SPOTLIGHT

The 6th Asia-Pacific Region Messenger of Peace National Scout Organization Coordinators Meet was held in Kathmandu Nepal from March 25-28, 2023, with representatives from 15 NSOs attending. The objective of the meeting was to create 3-year plans for National Scouts Organizations for 2023-2025 and to enhance the capacity of newly appointed NSO MoP Coordinators. The participants had a diverse mixture of experienced and new MoP NSO and Local Province Coordinators from Nepal Scouts as observers. The Meet provided information on World Initiatives, including Four Thematic Areas of Education (Better World Framework), applying for grants, SDG Hub, and Storytelling, along with Scout Donation Platform. The event facilitated collaboration between NSOs and Provinces to build a cohesive Network of MoP Coordinators. The Meet also encouraged teamwork and communication among members, taking into account their strengths, limitations, and expertise. A project plan was drafted, and MoP project 2.0 was discussed.

Operational Updates

Total 2037 Volunteers were mobilizing during month of March 2023 in all 7 Provinces:

1. 266 volunteer services on activities like Sanitation and Plantation program in Kailali and Kanchanpur, President Running Shield Sports Tournament in Dadeldhura, 1 day Free Health Camp and Eye Check Up Camp in Kailali of Sudur Paschim Province.

2. 552 Volunteers have been mobilized on 113th International Women's Day Celebration in Baglung and Cleaning Campaign program in Gandaki Province.

3. Earth Hour 2023 has been celebrated in presence of Minister of Physical Infrastructure Development and Minister of Home Affairs and Communications in Madhesh Province.

4. 250 Scouts volunteers have been mobilized in providing services on social and cultural program in Koshi Province. International Women's Day were celebrated in partnership with Social Development Ministry of Koshi Province.

5. Mask Campaign has been conducted with support of Scouts Volunteers in Bagmati Province.

6. 71 Scout volunteers were mobilized in Blood donation, traffic awareness and different social issues in Lumbini Province.

7. Nepal Scouts and Finland Guides and Scouts collaborated to conduct Training of Trainers to 72 participants in regards to “Scout, Peace and Security” from 2nd – 5th of March at Kakani International Scouts Center.

8. 6th APR Messenger of Peace (MoP) NSO Coordinators Meet took place at Hotel Park Village by KGH, Kathmandu, Nepal on 25-28 March 2023 for capacity strengthening and collaboration of MoP NSO coordinators.

Nepal Scouts National Strategy 2022-2032

Vision 2032

By 2032 Nepal scouts will be the preferred youth movement with 7,00,000 young members Nationwide, which is well managed, Self-dependent and supported by competent leaders for the development of young people with their active involvement in decision making level.

Strategic Priority 1: Youth Program

Strategic Outcome:

Nepal Scouts should ensure the youth program is vibrant and relevant to current youth trends and is effectively implemented providing safe environment in all Scouting activities, ensuring inclusiveness (gender, etc).

Activities:

• Over 1000 students were directly participated in School Level Stop the Violence (STV) Program organized in all seven provinces of Nepal.

• Adolescent Mental Health Program was organised at Manahari Makwanpur in presence of 35 scouters.

• Scout Friendship Camp has been accomplished at Bhaktapur and Khairahani Chitwan of Bagmati Province.

• Two [2] Free Being Me (FBM) orientations have been completed in Lumbini Province where 78 adolescents directly benefited by the program.

• Tribhuwan Shanti Scout Troop organized Kitchen Fire Safety Training with the support of Province Scout Office, Gandaki Province.

• Women Rights awareness program has been conducted on the occasion of 8 March in all province.

• Simulation of Disaster Management Training (DMT) has been successfully completed at Bhaktapur and Makwanpur of Bagmati Province and Damak, Jhapa and Mock Drill on Earthquake in Dharan of Koshi Province.

Strategic Priority 2: Adult-in-Scouting

Strategic Outcome:

The priority focuses on effective implementation of National Adult Development Policy ensuring competent and motivated leaders as per the requirement are available at all levels and in all roles.

Activities:

• Troop leader training was organized in Jhapa, Koshi Province.

• 2 Basic Scouts training and 2 Preliminary Training Course has been completed where total 78 scout masters trained.

Strategic Priority 3: Good Governance

Strategic Outcome:

The priority area focuses on transparency, accountability, responsive, fully constituted, and functional association at all levels, delivering quality Scouting in respective areas of operation as per the laid rules/procedures.

Activities:

• Meeting with Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding annual budget plan preparation for the next fiscal year.

• WOSM GSAT (Global Support Assessment Tool) inperson has been completed from 30 to 31 March 2023 in National Headquarters.

• Meeting with Province Chief Minister regarding the expansion of scouts and implementation of scout program in all schools of the state in Madesh Province

• 3 Virtual trainings on minute and proposal writing has been conducted in Lumbini Province where total 47 local association and scouts masters benefited

• Distributed Scout Uniform on Janakalyan Secondary School, Kathekhola Rural Municipality, Baglung of Gandaki and Rangeli, Morang of Koshi Province

• The final audit of Yess Project 2022 has been completed and the report has also been received from CA Auditor.

Strategic Priority 4: Resources Development and Management

Strategic Outcome:

Nepal Scouts to ensure efficient management of assets at all levels explore new source of revenue, partnerships and further strengthen the available revenue centers toward association’s self-reliance.

Activities:

• In coordination with Scout Shop for opening of scout shop outlets in all provinces.

• Booking of KISC and continuous service is provided to the scouts members and income is generated.

• New scout shop outlet opened and functional at Bhaktapur city

• Collection of Nepal Scouts properties related documents from all provinces

Strategic Priority 5: Communication

Strategic Outcome: This strategic priority will ensure the development & Implementation of communication Policy and emphasis on the effective communication with all stakeholders adopting impactful methods, brand promotion & protection.

Activities:

• Orientation on Brand Manual (Communication mechanism) has been conducted to all the Province Staff members.

Strategic Priority 6: Membership Growth

Strategic Outcome: This priority focuses on increasing membership towards achieving the vision 2032 by implementing efficient growth strategy, ensuring reaching to all segments of society and making scouting easily accessible to every willing young person.

Activities:

• 4 Scouts online registration orientation program (virtual) has been completed where total 50 Scouts master benefited.

• Scout Investitute ceremony has been completed in different Local Level of Gandaki Province, Bagmati Province, Koshi Province, Lumbini Province and Madhesh Province.

• Scout Orientation programme has successfully completed in Lumbini for 105 (teachers and guardian), Madhesh Province at Sarlahi, Bagmati Province at Ramechhap and Sindhuli, Sudur Paschim Province at Kailali and Kanchanpur.
