Welcome to the 2020 Spring/Summer Activities Guide! It has been a phenomenal school year! Spring time brings competitions, awards, and also some testing. I wish all of our students much luck and success as they compete and also as they take their standardized tests in the coming weeks. I am sure they will be ready and looking forward to a wonderful summer break! As we head into summer, our hope is that our students will continue their learning and also be able to socialize with their peers. Some parents may already have their plans set, but others will soon be looking for activities and events to keep their child busy and learning during the summer months. Parents may also be looking for opportunities for their child to interact and meet other kids similar in age. The CCPS Summer Activities Guide is here to help you. Enclosed you will find information on camps, tutoring, sports programs, music and art classes, and so much more … all in one place! This guide was developed in partnership with Neapolitan Family Publishing and is distributed to nearly 48,000 students across the district. It is a one-stop shop of extracurricular resources for students and families in the community. We hope you find this information useful as you begin to prepare your plans for the spring and summer. Brianna is a shining example of what it means to #StandUp for youth mental health. After being plagued during much of her childhood with anxiety and depression, she began using the coping skills she learned while in treatment at David Lawrence Center and “finally found new life at last.” A child’s life can be greatly hindered by a mental health challenge, and one of the biggest barriers to seeking treatment is the heavy stigma that still exists. If addressed early, more children, like Brianna, have a chance to learn the skills necessary to live a healthy and greatly fulfilling life.
