CCPS ACTIVITIES GUIDE • SPRING/SUMMER 2019

from Dr. Kamela Patton the parenting magazine devoted to collier county

P.O. Box 110656 Naples 34108 info@neafamily.com

Welcome to the 2019 Spring/Summer Activities Guide! I cannot believe we are coming to the end of another successful school year. In just a few weeks, our classrooms will be empty and our bulletin boards will be cleared … but learning and activities will continue. Summer can be a fun and exciting time for families. You may be planning a special family vacation, visiting relatives you might not have seen in a while, or planning activities to keep your child busy. As a parent or guardian, it can sometimes be a daunting and time-consuming task to research available activities in the area. That is where the CCPS 2019 Spring/Summer Activities Guide comes in to help! Enclosed you will find information on summer camps, tutoring, sports programs, music and art classes, and so much more – all in one place! This guide was developed in partnership with Neapolitan Family and is distributed to nearly 48,000 students across the district. It is a one-stop shop for activities for students and families in the community. Our goal is to be all-inclusive and give as many businesses and organizations the opportunity to participate, free of charge. We hope you find this information useful as you begin to prepare your plans for the summer. Enjoy! Kamela Patton, Ph.D. Superintendent

“I FINALLY FOUND NEW LIFE AT LAST.” – B R IA N N A

#STANDUP

T O M E N TA L H E A LT H S T I G M A

Brianna is a shining example of what it means to #StandUp for youth mental health. After being plagued during much of her childhood with anxiety and depression, she began using the coping skills she learned while in treatment at David Lawrence Center and “finally found new life at last.” A child’s life can be greatly hindered by a mental health challenge, and one of the biggest barriers to seeking treatment is the heavy stigma that still exists. If addressed early, more children, like Brianna, have a chance to learn the skills necessary to live a healthy and greatly fulfilling life.
