ANNUAL Report

Be Epic. Be An NC REALTOR®.

LETTER FROM THE CEO ANDREA BUSHNELL

DEAR NC REALTORS® MEMBERS, Welcome to 2020! I feel so lucky to be in a position to reflect on NC REALTORS® achievements during 2019 while simultaneously planning for 2020. As you read through the pages of the NC REALTORS® Annual Report, I hope you are inspired by the great achievements of our members and also our continuing efforts to position the association for success for years to come. Speaking of success, 2019 proved to be one for the record books. Through collaboration and the smart work of members, consultants, lobbyists and staff alike, we were able to get passed into law Senate Bill 86 “Small Business Health Care Act.” This win sets the stage for NC REALTORS® offering an association health plan to our members once we clear federal hurdles. We also experienced another record-breaking fundraising year for NC REALTORS® PAC, found unique ways to reach members through videos, podcasts and Mobile Mondays, achieved campaign and referendum wins engaging members and consumers through the Homeowners Alliance and hosted our first ever MOSAIC | Discussions on Diversity event.

As always, NC REALTORS® is front and center proving our commitment every day of the year to: • Creating a dynamic and profitable future of our members; • Helping our members to build vibrant, growing communities; and • Enhancing the quality of life in North Carolina. Without the many tireless hours of volunteerism given to your association, NC REALTORS® could not have achieved any of the many successes of the year outlined in this Annual Report. Asa Fleming, 2019 President; Maren Brisson-Kuester, President-elect; Kelly Marks, Treasurer; and Amy Hedgecock, Immediate Past-President, deserve your respect, thanks and your congratulations. They were the true leaders in moving NC REALTORS® forward in 2019. I thank each of you for your membership and also for your contribution to making NC REALTORS® a “first-in-class” organization devoted to our four core values of innovation, influence, integrity and inclusivity. I hope to see each of you at a future NC REALTORS® event, and please know we welcome your feedback about your benefits and services or anything related to the association any time. Thank you for all that you do to make our association— and the industry—a positive and influential force.

NC HOMEOWNERS

ALLIANCE As a valuable consumer resource, the NC Homeowners Alliance continues to demonstrate the real value of REALTORS® to consumers across North Carolina by being the only voice fighting for homeowners at the NC General Assembly. The Alliance works to educate the public about issues that directly and indirectly impact them as homeowners and provide a resource for homeowners to communicate with their elected officials on the issues that matter most.

Around $47,000 raised through major fundraising projects in 2019 including: $32,000: Golf Tournament & Raffle at XCHANGE ’19 $5,000: Quality of Life campaign & Wall of Wine fundraiser $3,985: Giving Tuesday social media fundraiser

In 2019, the Alliance lead the way to fight the 17.4% on average proposed homeowners insurance rate increase. This campaign gathered two thousand plus messages from homeowners to Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey on the concerning proposal. The Alliance also sponsored four Congressional Road Show events, helping local associations host their members of Congress. These events focused on REALTOR federal priorities and let Representatives hear from industry subject matter experts. The Alliance is excited to turn its efforts to increasing NC REALTOR® participation in advocacy on behalf of homeowner rights in 2020.
