CAYO DAVCO VILLAGE COUNCIL TRAINING 2010 The Cayo District Association of Village Councils (DAVCO), Village Council Training workshop started on November 13, 2010 at the Georgeville Community center, and came to an end for all 34 villages in the Cayo district on December 5, 2010 at Los Tambos Village. The main focus of the training was to support, teach and strengthen village council members to be better leaders to their community. The training will benefit each member of the council how to conduct and control village meetings, preparing meeting minutes; filing of village records, process of how village council should go about collecting their liquor license funds from District Association of Village Councils (DAVCO). About 30% of village council members took part in the three weeks training workshop, this training was intended for all seven members of the council. Even though it was a very low percentage, the Cayo DAVCO will continue to work closely with all village council members that need the necessary training. The Cayo DAVCO office will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am – 2:00pm, village council members please stop by the office anytime, for any assistance that you need, whether it’s for your financial report, agenda, meeting minutes or letter writing for your council.

COROZAL DAVCO TRAINING On October 30, 2010 the newly elected Corozal DAVCO Board Members were trained at Train the Trainer Workshops at the Ministry of Labour, Local Government and Rural Development Office in Corozal district. The training was conducted by Sandy Yamakishi (Peace Corps Volunteer NAVCO), Mr. Hilbert Lopez, Chief Administrative Office NAVCO and Jacklin Ingram, Office Assistant NAVCO.

The training was based on:  Conducting of Village Council Meeting   Village Council Acts on Meeting  Agenda Procedure  Motion  Writing Minutes  Conducting and Controlling Meeting   Village Council File Records, Book Keeping, & Reporting   Office Record Keeping  Treasurer’s Responsibility  Village Council Act – Official Forms
