CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS Arlington Parks and Recreation is committed to creating parks, facilities, and green spaces for you and your family to enjoy. With park fees, bonds, and other sources of income, we’re able to renovate and create facilities to fit your needs. Arlington residents unanimously approved a package of bond projects that focus on streets, parks, fire facilities and libraries in the 2014 Bond Election. Take a minute to read about projects we’ve recently completed or that are already under way. For more information about capital improvements and park planning, contact Park Planning Manager De’Onna Garner at 817-459-6937 or DeOnna. Garner@ArlingtonTX.gov.

NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT INSTALLED Adventure awaits on the new playgrounds of Marti Van Ravenswaay Park, Jake Langston Park, Gibbins Park and Carl Knox, Jr. Park in Arlington, Tx. The new playground equipment supports the City Council priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods. The new equipment enhances playground safety by replacing older equipment at these locations.

Arlington Golf and the Texas Rangers have partnered to build the world’s only Major League Baseball-branded golf course — the Texas Rangers Golf Club — which opened in February 2019. This collaborative branding partnership, along with $24 million in course renovations, affords the opportunity for Arlington to offer a destination golf course for both Arlington residents and visitors alike. “As the world’s only MLB-themed golf course, this course is sure to be a ‘bucket list’ item for baseball fans across the globe, especially our Rangers fan right here in Arlington,” Mayor Jeff Williams said. The golf club is open to the public seven days a week. Texas Rangers Golf Club is the closest 18-hole golf course to Arlington’s Entertainment District, offering a chance to play golf in conjunction with a visit to a Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers Game, TexasLive!, or the numerous other events at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, UTA or downtown Arlington. A $24 million project, Texas Rangers Golf Club involved a total renovation and updated routing of the existing golf course with improved turf grasses and additional water features. A new 33,871-square-foot clubhouse, set to open in early 2020, will feature a full-service restaurant and bar, covered patio overlooking the golf course, pro shop, locker rooms, and numerous rental and event spaces.

TIERRA VERDE

City of Arlington Parks and Recreation • N A T U R A L LY F U N . O R G

It’s hard to find a more beautiful course than the award-winning Tierra Verde Golf Club. Tierra Verde is the first golf course in Texas, and the first municipal course in the world, to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. Walk onto the first tee and enter an environment where golf and nature come together in harmony. Opened in 1998 and carved from 250 acres of secluded terrain, the course’s unsurpassed layout encompasses a variety of natural settings and offers an outstanding playing experience on every hole. The course has hosted many prestigious events, including the Byron Nelson Qualifying Tournament. Tierra Verde has been named the top golf course in the Metroplex for three years (2012-14) by AvidGolfer magazine.* Each hole has five sets of tees, sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards - all accented by stately trees and beautiful native grasses. The facility features a state-of-the-art golf learning center, a lighted driving range, three-hole practice course and large chipping and putting green complex. Lessons and clinics are taught by PGA/LPGA professionals and apprentices, an outdoor pavilion and full-service restaurant, Ventana Grille, that complement every event from small corporate outings to large fundraising tournaments.

MEADOWBROOK PARK

GOLF COURSE 817-275-0221 1300 E. Dugan

fb.com/MeadowbrookParkGolfCourse

Arlington’s tradition of outstanding golf began in the 1920’s with Meadowbrook Park Golf Course. Conveniently located just east of downtown Arlington, the golf course provides an excellent choice for families and leagues. The golf course is the centerpiece of Arlington’s first city park. Arlington purchased the 52-acre site in 1923 and it was sponsored by the Arlington Rotary Club. The site includes picnic grounds and the tree-filled nine-hole golf course. Many of the holes feature vistas of nearby AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Meadowbrook Park is the perfect facility to learn golf and sharpen short-game skills. The 9-Hole, par-33 layout consists of six par 4s, 250 to 300 yards in length, and three par 3s, approximately 150 yards in length. The course can be easily walked or played under time constraints and has a long-standing commitment to beginning adult and junior golfers. Golf legends Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson once led golf clinics here. Its small greens and narrow fairways are designed to challenge every level of player. The clubhouse offers a full line pro shop, concessions, and golf cart rentals. Exclusive facility rental opportunities are available for both golf and non-golf outdoor activities. With a long-standing commitment to environmental enhancement and preservation, Meadowbrook Park Golf Course is like a walk in the park for the whole family! 56

TRANSFER AND WITHDRAW

Classes may reach maximum capacity quickly. Please remember to register early so you will not be disappointed. If your class is full, please allow us to put you on the waiting list. We will contact you as soon as possible if a spot becomes available.

Participants must be withdrawn from the class three business days prior to the class start date to receive a refund.

Students must meet the age requirements and prerequisite prior to the first day of the class that they are registered for. Parents, please allow yourself extra time on the first day of class for completing class release forms and to meet your child’s instructor. To ensure quality instruction and safety every effort is made to adhere to strict student-to-teacher ratios. Classes have a maximum enrollment of 4-8 students depending on the level. Only those registered for classes will be allowed in the water while classes are in session. The tot pool at Bad Königshofen pool is not available for use during class hours. Swim lessons for individuals with disabilities or special needs are available following the inclusion model. Private lessons are also available for individuals wanting one on one instruction. Note: Aquatics classes must have at least two participants. The Aquatics team will move registrants of classes that do not make to another class, issue a refund, or find other accommodations.

REGISTRATION Register online at NaturallyFun.org by phone at 817- 459-5483, or in person at any City Recreation Center.

CANCELED CLASSES In the event that a class is canceled, every effort will be made to notify you by telephone. On the first day of class verify that the pool staff has the correct phone number. If a class is canceled for any reason on the behalf of the City of Arlington, we will try to make up time by adding minutes to the remaining classes. However if this is not possible, the following Friday will serve as our designated make up day. AQUATICS CLASSES MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO PARTICIPANTS. THE AQUATICS TEAM WILL MOVE REGISTRANTS OF CLASSES THAT DO NOT MAKE TO ANOTHER CLASS, ISSUE A REFUND, OR FIND OTHER ACCOMMODATIONS.
