Nonconsumptive recreation accounted for 6,260 visits with residents comprising 77 percent of Refuge visitation. The number of visitors has increased every year since the Refuge’s establishment in 1997. This growth can be attributed to the Refuge increasing public awareness, activities, and operating hours.
