Laid Back Plait  Pull hair back and round into a side pony tail.  Take a piece of hair from the pony tail, wrap it round the band and pin into place.  Create a fish plait by plaiting with two sections of hair instead of three. Split one of the two strands in half and fold over itself, do the same with other of the two strands but fold over the first fold, swapping the first fold into the second strand of hair.  Repeat until plait is complete and tie at the end.  Brush your fingertips back over your plait for a less ‘finished’ appearance.  Embellish with stylish headbands or wrap round pieces. If you want to include the smaller plait detail just leave a little hair out of the ponytail being plaited. Plait separately as per the norm with three sections, wrap around the larger plait and tie into the end.

Grecian Style Plait - Updo  To do this style you do need to have a little knowledge of French plaiting, you don’t need to have perfected it but you do need to be familiar with the technique.  Part a section of your hair from the left side. Separate a small section of this into three sub-sections like a normal plait. Fold one over the other like a normal plait but only plait within that section, taking a small additional piece of hair with each fold.  When you have finished plaiting that section and have reached the edge of the right side, you need to change the direction of the plait with a second section and repeat the techniques listed above.  When you reach the edge of the left side again, repeat the above techniques until all hair is plaited. If you have a longer plait and some excess left over, wrap beneath the lower plait and pin. Pull loose strands of hair from the front to frame the face. Don’t worry if you have layers, the texture will add to the semi-messy effect. 8 Image by Wikimedia Commons
