American Mustang An artful blend of nature documentary and character-driven narrative, the majestic wild horses of the American West are revealed as never before. The wonder in a girl’s eye pulls us into the drama that unfolds on hundreds of millions of acres of public land. With battle lines that have long been carved into the landscape and players that are deeply entrenched, the subtle choreography that has evolved over thousands of years captivates us. The intricate dance between a man and a wild horse presents lessons for us all, even the battle-hardened special interest groups fighting for the place of the American Mustang. Herd In Iceland

FILM INFO

RUN TIME: 28 min DIRECTOR: Lindsay Blatt, Paul Taggart PRODUCER: Lindsay Blatt

For over 1,000 years, Icelandic law has made it illegal to import horses. For that reason, Icelandic horses are a pure breed, isolated by oceanic borders. During the summer months, the horses live a remote and wild existence, grazing in the highlands and raising their young. Every September, they are rounded up by local farmers and directed across the rugged terrain to reunite with their owners. Beautifully shot and full of compelling stories, co-directors Lindsay Blatt and Paul Taggart’s Herd in Iceland is magical. About the filmmaker

Through Their Eyes (a preview of a work-in-progress film) Through Their Eyes tells the story of the invisible wounds our veterans bear and how horses--who have faithfully served us for thousands of years--are helping them to heal. The unseen wounds of war are just as debilitating and devastating as the visible ones. And now, equine therapy is being increasingly used with veterans to help them heal from the psychological effects of warfare. By their sheer presence, horses are able to bring people into the present where all true healing takes place. The film tells the story of how horses have the ability to restore a person to balance.
