More than 150 years organizing fairs EXPONOR is owned by AEP - Portuguese Business Association (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), which was founded in 1849 in Porto.
1856 first exhibition organized by AEP 1861 Porto Industrial Exhibition at the Porto Stock Exchange building 1865 International Industrial Exposition of Porto and the Iberian Peninsula 1964 creation of a specific department dedicated to industrial events 1987 EXPONOR Exhibition Centre was born at Leça da Palmeira, Matosinhos 1990 first stage of an expansion programme (enlargement of the Congress Centre and the construction of another pavilion) 1991 EXPONOR joined UFI – The Global Association for the Exhibition Industry 1998 second stage of the expansion programme (to improve and expand the physical space) and the beginning of the organization of events outside Portugal – Galicia (Spain), Cape Verde and Mozambique 1999 creation of EXPONOR Brasil, headquartered in São Paulo 2001 EXPONOR Quality Management System was awarded the ISO 9001 standard by APCER (Portuguese Certification Association) 2010 EXPONOR organized its first events in Angola 2013 adoption of a new business model, with separation of the real estate and events organization/management strands.
