Irymple Junior A Great Year at ‘The Nest’ Irymple Junior Football Netball Club has had a stellar year, thanks largely to the fantastic support people who make successful clubs tick along smoothly and successfully. The goal of our team is “To support young people in our community to be involved in sport by giving everyone a go!” The value of this guiding principle has been vindicated by the number of people in our wider community who now bring their children to Irymple to play footy or netball.
Developing footballers through a plan of “everyone gets to play,” has been a formula for success at Henshilwood Oval for a number of years, according to IJFNC president Craig Burford.
“This year we have had Brad Eaton (the club’s current senior coach), Rod Simms, Paul Geister, Brian Roads, Grahame ‘Tiddles’ Kerr, Richard ‘Dicka’ Bryans, Dave Ryan, Marty Scott and Sam Curran.
“It’s about making sure that every kid gets a chance to have fun, while learning how to play footy,” Craig said.
“All these guys have long associations with local football, and lots of games under their belt.
“We make sure our coaches are very good at what they do, and that they are the best people to teach the kids the basic, including sportsmanship.
“They know the game, and teach our kids how to play at their best. It is really terrific to see so many kids enjoying the game, and getting a chance to play here at the club.”
