Tide Lines to launch debut album at Oban Live #TLalbum Oban :: 2-3 June :: www.obanlive.com Buy tickets @ www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/oban-live-2017-tickets-29072525707

Highland band, Tide Lines, are gearing up to launch their highly anticipated debut album at Oban Live on 3 June.

Tide Lines :: www.facebook.com/wearetidelines photo by William Johnston

Tide Lines are a four piece band who have been achieving considerable success since their live launch at Tiree Music Festival last summer. They join an impressive line-up this year at Oban Live, playing the Saturday of the two-day event at Mossfield Stadium on 2-3 June. Their debut single, Far Side of the World, entered the iTunes official UK download charts ahead of the likes of Coldplay, Beyonce, and Adele within 24 hours of its release in June 2016. The band have since performed all round the country: including sell-out shows alongside trad outfits Mànran and Skerryvore, and festival appearances such as the finale of the Blas festival in Eden Court Theatre, Inverness, at which they shared the bill with Irish accordion star, Sharon Shannon. Their debut album will be available for digital download from the 2 June, and physical copies will go on public sale for the first time at Oban Live. Fans of the band also have the opportunity to pre-order a copy prior to the launch @ www.tidelinesband.com/debut-album-pre-order/ There will be 3 different packages available for pre-order — including a signed copy of the 14 track digipak album with lyric booklet. The album is a collection of the band’s original

material and also features two songs from the pen of Dol Eoin MacKinnon, a traditional Gaelic song, and a tune set led by the highland bagpipes. There are a number of recurring lyrical themes that run throughout. The songs are a study of the fleeting glory of youth, the innocence of young love without complication, and the effect of place upon the development of time: the comfort of a rustic past in relation to the uncertainty of an urban future. Musically, the sound reflects the lyrical juxtaposition - stylistically floating between traditional and pop influences. The energetic arrangements are led by electric and acoustic guitar, drums, and synth but also include piano, whistles, accordion, and cello.

Such collaborations have greatly augmented the sound of the band and enriched the timbre of the music within the album. The band are promoting the album on their social media platforms using the hashtag #TLalbum. Oban Live is Argyll's biggest live music event that was created following the open-air concert ‘DECADE’ in 2015 – the 10th anniversary celebration of trad-fusion band Skerryvore that attracted over 6,000 people from all over the world to Oban. Such was the reaction and impact of the event, 98% of attendees requested that it become an annual event. From this, Oban Live was formed in 2016 with the aim of showcasing the very best Scottish and international artists as part of both the open-air concert and Oban Live Fringe events.

Tide Lines have collaborated with a number of very talented musicians on the album - including www.obanlive.com Anthony Thistlethwaite of The Saw Doctors and The Waterboys, whose saxophone and mandolin www.facebook.com/obanlive playing feature on two tracks. https://twitter.com/OBANLIVE

Carnival Fifty Six, the major new music festival taking place on Saturday 12-13 August at Camperdown Park in Dundee has announced The Fratellis have been added to the line up as special guests. Eleven years on from the release of debut album Costello Music, … ten years on from winning the Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act…nine years on from Costello Music finally exiting the Top 100 after 83 weeks in the charts… eight years on from recording second album Here We Stand in their own Glasgow studio… five years on from returning after a break in which frontman Jon Fratelli released two side-project albums (one under the name Codeine Velvet Club, one a solo) and releasing third album We Need Medicine… and zero years on from the last time Chelsea Dagger was sung by the crowd at a major event somewhere in the world (as singalong anthems go, few songs come close) …after all that, The Fratellis’ rocking and rolling good times are set to be unleashed on the Mardi Gras Main Stage at Carnival Fifty Six this summer. Commenting on today’s Special Guest announcement, Festival Director Craig Blyth said, “The Fratellis are guaranteed to have Camperdown rocking this summer. The band are brilliant live and we’re delighted to have Jon, Barry and Mince join us as Special Guests. They’ll get a massive response when they hit Dundee in August and thousands of fans are guaranteed to create one of the summer’s biggest singalong moments.” The Fratellis join an already heaving-with-quality line up with headliners Mark Ronson, Rudimental,

The Fratellis :: www.facebook.com/thefratellis

Clean Bandit and Basement Jaxx joined by many of the country’s most exciting breakthrough bands including Boxed In, Prides, Be Charlotte, White and Elle Exxe, plus a top flight dance offering which includes Sasha, Hot Chip, James Zabiela, Harri & Domenic and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. In another major announcement, Carnival Fifty Six is delighted to confirm 71 Brewing – Dundee’s urban craft brewery, as this year’s official headline sponsor. Hot on the heels of its first product launch, 71 Brewing will sell its 71 Lager, the official lager of the festival, across the two days. Located in the heart of Dundee, and occupying a building that formed part of the historic and imposing Blackness foundry, a 7,200 sq ft state-of-the-art brewery has emerged. The architects behind the venture are Duncan Alexander and Mark Griffiths and, following a six-month renovation period, the pair opened the state-of-the-art urban brewery in January 2017 with the launch of 71 Lager, inspired by a classic Bohemian Pilsner. Commenting on the official headline sponsorship, Festival Director Craig Blyth said, “We are delighted to announce the headline partnership with 71 Brewing for Carnival Fifty Six and are particularly pleased to be offering across the weekend the locally-brewed 71 Lager as the official lager of the festival. This is a quality product, conceived and produced in Dundee, and the company’s values along with its ambitious vision for the future has a great synergy with the festival. This year marks the beginning of an exciting journey for both of us and we look forward to the long term shared experience ahead.” Duncan Alexander, Founder of 71 Brewing and proud Dundonian, said: “Carnival Fifty Six will be one of Scotland’s biggest music festivals and what an incredible line-up for the first year. It will definitely put extra swagger in the Dundonian step. The fact that everyone will be drinking 71 Lager in my home city makes me excited beyond words to be a part of this."
