Welcome to The Music Hall’s 2010-2011 Season! Season standouts include jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, kids rocker Dan Zanes, Comedy Central Star Juston McKinney’s new A Merry Funny New England Christmas, 12 opera broadcasts from Lincoln Center, and Momix Dance’s Botanica. Our passionate, dedicated curators are committed to bringing the world to Portsmouth. We’ve searched the globe for the talent you’ll see on stage and screen this year, whether it’s Buika, the Afro-Soul Flamenco Queen, or Margaret Atwood, the iconic Canadian novelist. We are proud to be part of what makes Portsmouth and the entire Seacoast region so forward looking. I’m thrilled to think of all the nights, afternoons and evenings we’ll all spend among friends here. This is a great place to mark that special occasion. With all the fun and thrill of a live show, with great drinks and snacks, our historic theater is the place to celebrate!

The Music Hall Experience

The nonprofit 130+ year old hall, the oldest in New Hampshire, provides a unique experience for patrons – North Shore Magazine says it best,“Featuring a mix of musical artists, award-winning films, and theatrical performances every night of the week, The Music Hall operates as the city’s cultural epicenter. Upon entering the Victorian theater, you’d never guess it was built in 1878. Ongoing renovations are responsible for the swanky Founders Lobby Lounge beneath the theatre, where you can comfortably sip a cocktail before the show.” The wind is in our sails. Over the last several years we’ve seen tremendous growth in The Music Hall’s audiences and supporters – membership is at record levels, live events keep selling out, and corporate sponsorship is also at an all-time high. More than just a cultural anchor, The Music Hall is being called a regional Lincoln Center. Already our newest project, the Loft, a Center for Performing Arts and Education, is being heralded for all it will do and bring to the Seacoast community and particularly Portsmouth, the arts and cultural capital of the region. If you want to find out what you can do to help The Music Hall, the first step is keeping our membership strong, so join or renew today (page 9,11). If you want to sponsor The Music Hall, see page 13. If you’re interested in our Treasure the Future Campaign (page 124-125) please contact the Development office. And finally, I love talking to you, getting your ideas, hearing your support, sharing our stories together. See you at The Music Hall and coming in spring, The Music Hall Loft! Best, Patricia Lynch, Executive Director
