ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM The Archaeological Museum of Belmonte Piceno, which is nearing completion, will be dedicated to the Belmonte Piceno phase and will be hosted on the ground floor of the “Former Casa del Fascio“, a recently renovated building. During excavations in the territory of the municipal area in the early 1900s the remains of the village and about three hundred tombs, with rich funerary attires emerged: the material recovered was initially placed in the Archaeological Museum of Ancona, but following the bombings that hit the structure during World War II, the organic nature of the documentation was compromised forever. The purpose of the present local Museum will be to provide a scientific framework to the Belmonte Piceno remains, not only by returning the recovered artifacts to the area of provenance and to the territory, but also to enhance the understanding of the history of the territory.
PERMANENT EXHIBITION OF THE WORK OF THE SCULPTOR GAETANO ORSOLINI The permanent Exhibition of the work of Gaetano Orsolini aims to enhance the work of the fellow-town sculptor, born in Montegiorgio in 1884. In particular, it refers to a series of small works in bronze and carved woods, images that reproduce a colloquial domestic scene with children, nymphs, satyrs and ballerinas, suffused with grace, elegance, often humorous, where the artist puts all his love for beautiful sculpture, for the pure line, and fills them full of vibration and life.
